I installed 2.3.2.0 a long time ago.I enabled extra loud to phone speaker but it didn't work unless i used headphones to listen somethng.Does this issue still exist?

Nope Still doesnz work for me on poweramp

When I install it goes in data/app moved to data/app-private, nothing else in there. No go. This and DSP are both buggy on n5.

It works for me with PowerAmp, but after I plug in my earphones. Until a reboot then I have to plug em in again. Weird I know. I have a G2 though. That might be the difference. You may also have to make the build prop changes as well.

Rather than trying to install it as a regular app first. Download V4A, the copy and paste it to System/Priv-App. One less step and it really makes no sense to try and install it the normal way first. You may have to reboot for it show in the app drawer. On Mahdi I do. Some ROMs I don't

Tried that. Works for phone speaker not for ear buds; unless force stop and start with buds. It works and sounds great, just a lot of button pressing to make it kick in. Purity ROM.

Doesn't work here with earphones. I'm using Cataclysm. How ****ing hard can it be to get this work?

There is already another thread in this section with a lot of information on issues with Viper here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543796
I have attached a zip I made that will automatically install the app in priv-app and set permissions. I have no issues with any usage of Viper on SlimKat ROM. All options work for me on Google Music, Tune In Radio, Youtube and works over wired headphones, bluetooth, and speakerphone. Personally anyone that has already tried installing this and had any issues I would uninstall every aspect of Viper on your phone(both drivers and apk), dirty flash the ROM you're on, then flash the zip, boot up, install drivers, then reboot. If that doesn't help and you're hell bent on trying to get Viper to work I would make a nand, clean install you're ROM, and flash the zip to see if it works as it seems some ROM's have issues with Viper. If it doesn't work just restore the nand.
P.S. also keep in mind that with the apk installed in priv-app you will need to flash the zip at every ROM update and reinstall drivers then reboot on your first boot. You won't lose your settings though unless you wipe data.

That's two other threads already why make a third one?!? I posted a long guide with pictures that will get viper4android working for you in one of the most active of the two threads. If you want Viper working especially with poweramp go check it out. It's there so you can read it and setup your viper4android.

How do you disable OTA updates on Nexus 7?

I am on stock 4.1.2. I recently flashed back from 4.2. I do not want to update as I found it extremely buggy. I keep getting a notification to update and it is annoying. Anyone know how to disable it?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You need to root
Then do this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998378&highlight=disable
If you don't use sync you can also force stop "Google Service Framework"
BUT... this way isn't recommended by most... but it worked for me before rooting, would stop it for days, then it might come back after a while
Search for fotakill.apk in Google search. Place it in system/app using ES File Explorer or other file app (if using ES make sure to go into preferences - root options and enable all selections available). Change permission from RW to:
R W E
R W
R W
Then tap the app in system/app to install it. After install reboot to custom recovery and wipe cache. Reboot. Once it reboots you might still see the icon for system update. Clear the notification. If you check for an update after that it should say up to date.

Thanks for the comments! I am not wanting to root at this time because I am enjoying how this is running. So I hope this post will stay here if I place in my favs to come back to if I ever root. I will do the framework thing for now. I doubt I will be updating to 4.2. I noticed my offline GPS was not working on Google maps after updating to 4.2. So many problems with that update. Glad I went back. Thanks again! You guys rock!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
For what it's worth, I used the Google provided 4.1.2 files and scripts to go back from 4.2.1 so an expensive app would work on the Nexus 7. I have not yet locked the bootloader if this makes any difference. What I then did was install System Tuner Pro. From the menu in that app, go to System (red android symbol), find Google Services Framework and click on it to highlight it. Then at the bottom of the screen choose Settings and turn off Notifications and then Disable it. You can simply go back, I suppose, and Enable which is that the box says now. After doing this it will show that as frozen.
So I have not rooted my Nexus 7 and this seems to stop the OTA prompts for updates. I'm unclear what else this stops, but I'm not using much involving Google syncing, so probably not any harm. (You can also use System Tuner Pro to backup up your user apps and it writes these backups to the sd card. I have not tried to restore them yet, having no need.)

The links arent working..
Tried this: uninstalled everything and installed busybox via Smart install, then installed Viperaudio and the driver.
Restarted my device and it still isnt working ... hmmpf
When i play a song with poweramp it doenst work (no sound)
When i uncheck the first option in Viper (V4A-SpeakerFX) the sound is back!
When i check the setting to "on" my sound is gone :/
If you have it up and running, did you encounter some issues with the volume level? I fell that it's the same level audio in headphones even if it's 10% or 100%.. While running the stock settings, it works fine..
I found that viper audio does not work with downloaded songs in Google music or music unlimited. It works only when streaming which is useless to me.

Viper4Android Pixel 2 XL stereo speaker optimization profile (Android Q working)

Updated: OP contains instructions for Android Pie and below, post #5 has current instructions for Android Q.
Saw a couple Viper4Android threads, did not see much in terms of profiles for the 2 XL specifically. Just got the 2 XL coming from a 6P and there was a great profile to optimize it's internal speakers so decided to try out the mod for the 2 XL's speakers. Working very nicely.
Not sure if this will work with every ROM but works nice on Bootleggers (should work on any Pie ROM including stock) and thought I would share so more people could enjoy much improved sound quality. Makes rooting the phone well worth it.
Instructions:
After installing Magisk 18.1
Install BusyBox and run the set-up
Download the Viper4Android V4.1 (used Material theme) via Magisk manager
run the install process, select 2.5.0.4 material theme, install as system app, grand root access then reboot
Load the DorianX profile taken from the 6P. Just unzip then look over the extracted files.
Edited to explain further: You will probably need to individually place the "SRS Audio HD" IRS file in the Viper4Android Kernel folder and put the Profile folder in the Viper4Android Profile folder (using a file explorer to copy/paste the files). Once that's done, in the Viper4Android app under "Convolver", tap it and choose "impulse response file", You should see the "SRS Audio HD" IRS file that you placed in the Kernel folder, select it, tick the box next to Convolver to enable it. Under the main app settings you should be able to select and load the profile. If you did it correctly the DorianX profile folder should be visible to select it. It depends which version of Viper4Android you install. If you do materialized (2.5.0.4) the above should work. Let me know if any problems
Play some music. Toggle Viper4Android master power on and off under the phone speaker tab within the app then back to on once to enable it. Usually you have to do this to "officially" enable Viper4Android. If it's working you will hear the difference. Under the app settings you can verify that the app is processing as well under "driver status". Working with the latest Poweramp, Youtube, etc.
Credit to DorianX who made the profile. There are 4 profiles included to optimize specific bluetooth devices, headphones, etc but just using the internal speaker one (for now). Unable to locate the past post in the 6P forum containing the profile and which other devices were optimized to link to it.
Works very well and thought it was worth posting and making a small contribution so for now enjoy! Profile attached.
Have Viper4Android working nicely on Android Q Beta 4.
Those that downloaded this profile if you don't mind posting the Dorian profile speaker settings (all of them for each tab and whether enabled or disabled) would appreciate it. Profiles no longer can be loaded in this version of Viper.
Looking at the speaker xml file can see some of the settings but probably not all.
Magisk 19.3, Adaway works, viper now works all on today's beta 4. Tried all versions and combos. Getting the driver to install and stick was a big pain. Can post some instructions if anyone is interested. I'm sure plenty of people would like to get viper working.
Now if only Google apps like Gmail and Google play would be themed. Can see the force dark toggle is broken in this beta. Not sure if the Google apps were theming in Beta 3 or not.

Ok I got it. No need to PM me the profile. Took most of the night but done now.
Would be unable to stay on Q without Viper4Android as well...
Make sure to uninstall all previous versions of Magisk and modules to start fresh.
Install Magisk 19.3 via twrp, install latest Magisk manager and then Busybox (make sure to set up busybox). Some are having problems with this Beta and Magisk so YMMV. Working well for me and no app lag.
On Pie in Magisk you should see Viper4Android 2.7.1 module as available
On Q it's not listed (for me at least) so get it from XDA labs.
Install Viper4Android:
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/download/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx (link to direct download, must be signed in)
Or use this link: https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx
The installer will install it as a magisk module. Grant supersu permissions, install driver, phone will reboot.
Install the magisk audio modifications library module. Reboot. After rebooting disable this module (do not uninstall). Reboot again.
Open up Viper4Android. If it asks you to install driver again do so and phone will automatically reboot. Repeat if needed. If driver install remains unsuccessful try enabling and disabling the audio modifications module then try again. What worked for some worked the opposite for others in past threads on previous Android versions and various devices. Here is the thread for reference: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/help/viper4android-driver-installation-fails-t3766362
Once driver is installed the app will load properly and under driver status it will probably say "unsupported" and "abnormal". Close the app
Go back into Magisk manager. Now toggle to re enable the audio modifications module. Reboot. (This is the module that allows Viper4Android to process and can help to install the driver)
Upon reboot, Viper4Android should work. Play some music, check the driver status to verify, you may need to toggle off/on master limiter to finally enable it.
For this profile, put the SRS file in OP above in the Viper4Android Kernel folder. Under the apps speaker tab manually input these settings:
Master limiter: On
Playback gain: moderate or 2, max gain 4x, output threshold -1.9db
FIR Equalizer: On. EQ is flat
Convolver: On. Tap convolver then select the SRS inpulse file you placed in the Kernel folder. Cross channel set to 0
Profit.
You can set or disable the viper4android notification icon in the statusbar within the app's settings.
Let me know how the 2 XL's speakers sound Post updated, instructions should be clear enough. Some having problems will need to wait for the updated Magisk. Moving forward, we do have viper4android working on Q. Fully tested on my 2xl and stable with beta 4.

Our 2 XL's can be temperamental, lol.
Glad you got it working. Not sure how the driver installed and the viper app fixed itself with the audio modifications module switched off. It's like you didn't need that module at all. Whatever works.
Just happy we have viper for Q. Played games, music, youtube and running stable here.

Good stuff. To anyone else installing viper just to note if you click on driver and see it as processing = no this does not mean you did anything or the install went wrong. Play a video or music, driver should show as processing yes. When nothing is playing then processing will be no.
Does this enable dual speaker for calls/message alerts?
How did you guys get magisk working on Q beta 4? For me it makes systemui not start on boot and it skips the lock screen entirely. And if it does boot normally, apps take over 10 seconds to launch. I have tried to wipe system data cache and then ran the flash-all bat and still have the issue. A lot of others have the issue on the magisk canary thread. Some don't have it. Someone suggested after a full wipe with -w it fixed it.

It's not working for me. I had to reboot about 4 times because systemui wasn't starting up and I was getting a black wallpaper with no status or nav bar. Finally rebooted normally and at times apps refuse to open but it's slightly better than it was. This is just so weird. Do I really need to wipe my phone or is it magisks fault?

Someone in the Android Q discussion thread might be able to help better. Google pulled the beta so it's tough to say whether in your case it's a magisk or android issue. Or both.
I love this post for real, I have a Pixel 3 with Android P, viper v2.7.1.
I had to port the userprofile to the new version, if someone want it, PM me

Feel free to post it as well. Curious how you were able to port the profile. Looked everywhere but couldn't find any info to convert the old profile to the new preset format.

Yes it did the same for me. The first time, almost forgot. I did not find the sound to be the same, not even close. Ultimately I still had my Nexus 6p and was able to retrieve the settings and input them manually. Then the sound was as it should be.
Do you find the sound identical with the ported profiles? It might be hit and miss.

Viper4Android on the Redmi Note 7

Hello there, I've been trying to get the viper4android but it just keep asking me to install the driver.
I've tried with the magisk module and the xda labs version (which looks awesome btw).
I'm on magisk 19.0
My rom is xiaomi.eu 10.4
Any ideas?
Just install a Magisk module or a script to set SeLinux as Permissive. I am using it right now and everything works great.

I've had trouble installing it, too. Tried every rom posted on this forum, stock MIUI, and some GSI, and in none of them I could get V4A working. Used Magisk Module, too.
Could you please ellaborate how you installed it? Which rom? Which Magisk/V4A version?
Viper is literally the only thing I'm missing from my previous phone; I'd reeeally like to enjoy it again!

Have you tried using the XDA Labs version? I had the same problems and that worked pretty well

Yes, I tried that one as well. Always the same error: "No driver installed", press yes, restart phone, and back to "no driver installed" again.
Which busybox version are you using?
Ok, I finally got it.
I'll write it here for anyone with the same problem, or for future reference.
First, check that you have BusyBox installed.
Then, in Magisk Manager, install the Audio Modification Library. Reboot.
In Magisk Manager again, install the Viper4Android module. Install options: new driver, old interface, user app, library workaround no, oneplus 3 workaround yes. Reboot.
Check opening the app, it should work normally, with no "driver not found" errors.
Notes: tried with letsmakecake's Lineage 16. People in the RN7 Telegram group recommend busybox.zip, but I confirm that the stericson app works the same.
If anyone has problems making it work with Poweramp: settings->audio->advanced->
- Direct Volume Control: disabled
- MusicFX: enabled
Then go to the eq screen, second tab, press MusicFX so it's enabled.
Thanks all who helped, and the V4A devs. This is the best audio tweak mod available for Android, hands down.
Personal recommendation: try the Dolby Pro Logic II irs in the convolver!

Alright, can confirm this works, with some minor differences:
-new interface (just personal preference)
-library workaround was applied automatically
I also have selinux permissive and MusicFX disabled (app frozen).
The package I used is Viper4Android FX Legacy. The new version, Viper4Android 2.7, did not work for me.
My ROM is HavocOS.

Question about Viper

I use Amazon Music with Viper Mod and Dolby. The problem I have is when I start playing my music I have to go into the Viper app. As soon as I open the app Viper kicks in.
Is there something I can do to kick Viper in automatically?
Hi, re-instak and follow instructions, instal as system app, u mess a step
Honeslty, I have never been able to get Viper working fully on my 6t. You might want to try removing the optimization in settings to see if that will let the app continue running. I think OOS just disables it after you don't have anything playing for a while.
I mainly play on my car Bluetooth when I am driving mostly a volume issue but do like surround sound as well
Have you tried making Viper a system app so that the process won't continually get killed?

I moved it to system with terminal emulator so we'll see.
Install viper as a magisk module. Select as system app
Runs fantastic on my 6T

Viper4Android FX 2.7.1.0 doesn't give me a option to select anything, It just installs completely and then says to reboot. I downloaded App Systemizer (Terminal Emulator} and moved it to system and now you are right it is running fantastic.

As a follow-up, about a day after I had posted, my viper stopped working. So I deleted the plug-in in magisk, and reinstalled 2.7.1.0 fresh and it's been work ever since! I apologise if I came off flippant at all. Seems they changed / updated something and that had to be done.

No need to apologize after a few times of uninstall and reinstall I gave up. Between my Bose Stereo settings in my car and the phone settings I get really good sound so I'm good.
