Yeah this is my first post . Anyways I am looking for a team to go about to port Firefox OS to a Galaxy Y. How would I go about this ? Because I know the Galaxy Y doesn't have a lot of RAM. I've got pretty far so far, however I need a good kernal. So who would like to join my team? BTW I forgot to mention that
Only devices running at least Android 4 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) are supported. If your device is listed above but running an older version of Android, please update it before doing anything.

you better answer for another more simple way. firefox can not carry. Reason: do not hold or recovery or stable or actual ics for galaxy y. The only thing you did not hold as mentioned is thewisp ics and whitexp. And sorry for noob questions but when they do so, there are only two options, or very noob to ask something obvious or nose to past that you do not seem to be aware of what you order here. And for my say jelly bread or jelly blast are ics, pfff so noob, and here jelly blast is banned.
I knew, I told u that I was mod! But u can still get it on other forums. Personally i hate it! Yeah ur right bout the wisp and whitexp, however it is possible. You can do it

Could someone please clean this thread, and maybe set one sticky titled "no more cry about lack of official ICS for Galaxy S I-9000, please" ?
Currently, everyone who is above 7y.o., reads somewhere that Galaxy S will have not ICS, then immediately announces this disaster in new thread here, instead of going with cry to his/her mum shouting: "mummy, mummy, those ugly uncles from Samsung will not give me the ICS, could you kick them or tell daddy!!!111".
Announcements, petitions, prays, God only know what else... seriously? Is the XDA wall of cry for any kiddo?
Nearly all devs are going to take them ROM at ICS, it shouldn't be a problem that ICS doesn't come officially to our SGS1 .. CyanogenMod wasn't a official ROM or Firmware as well
Chill out
No need for Samsung ics with TW .. just give teamhacksung's ICS Port and Onecosmic's ICS Port a try , working very well with me

Hi Friends,
Is it possible to upgrade Gingerbread to ICS or Jelly Bean in my Samsung Galaxy Y?
No, not for now. But, we can upgrade to ICS or JB in the near future once we get the drivers from broadcomm.

You can try out flashing custom ics /jellybean roms..
They are not running on ics but will surely give you the feel...
Thank you guys for your quick response..
I will try the ROM but I have a quick question, is there any option to roll back to the original version (Ginger Bread) if something goes wrong during this process?

Oh yes keep a nandroid backup through cwm..
If anything goes wrong you can restore it.
And one more suggestion
Don't say thanks just hit the button
No but you can use customized rom like creed 3.5, cod or jelly blast. Or you can use theme like holo launcher to get ics taste.
Good luck

I think someone could compile AOKP/AOSP. For HTC Explorer (in my opinion has a hadware with similar limitations) there are four major Roms so far: CM9, CM10, AOKP and Pacman.
CM9 has known bugs and AOKP either, so we will wait to have Broadcom drivers and we'll see! Until then wait ...

I see a aosp or aokp rom on galaxy ace.. but the hardware of ace is almost same as y.
nothing is impossible,
before even users said "SGMini can't handle ICS" but on febuary (correct me if im wrong) 2012 they released a developed Stock ICS for mini,
nothing is impossible,
the question lies on how do we get there and what steps we need to follow,
I have worked on alot of phones like htc explorer, ace, mini and my beloved Y and I know that we can run AOSP easily!
I hope you guys know that cm is BASED ON AOSP!!
Even if we dont have sources to compile, we can port the aosp roms from other phones and make them work easily!

I think there will be no use even if Broadcom releases the driver sources.
It is too late. It is because people are migrating from Samsung Galaxy Y and buying some other device that has cool developments.
There are few chances that they will return to this device.

I need not reply for the post. The answer is in the same link that you have provided. Read the reply posts in that thread and you will come to know yourself!!
And to think that other companies are actually helping users, like Motorola releasing the source code of the RAZR D3.
And people are to blame Google because of fragmentation when companies themselves help fragmentation happen.
Galaxy Y can't receive real Jelly Bean. All ROMS you see like JellyBlast and Nemesis and many more are stock-based. The only different ROM that is different is CyanogenMod 7, which is actually 2.3.7 instead of stock 2.3.6 .
Galaxy Y cannot receive a Jelly Bean build. Even if it ever receives a ported build, it might be full of bugs. For example, CyanogenMod 9 is said to be real ICS but it's full of bugs. Most ROMS that appear as ICS+ are probably themed, or tweaked with build.prop editor
I wish the developers are doing the best in order to satisfy you and many other Galaxy Y users.

Yes, I will not undo my galaxy y ... something like the specific kernel that uses biel in your CM9 Beta 1 may serve in the future. Galaxy Y has served for many entering the world of android and learn about the advanced, which can be used in future smartphones. One day will repeat a similar story that no one will want to support us.
Its long back since I forgot the dream of ICS+. People don't waste your time on such threads. Better get a new phone, never go for Broadcom. You will be happy and get every Android version update.
(Samsung Galaxy SL, released in 2011 like SGY, got stable Kitkat and not to forget nexus phones who have seen every android version)
We already have sent petition from change.org but
Broadcom will never release required Libraries (I wonder why people mistake and call it "drivers")
and no stable version will be possible.
I am not pessimist, neither I have lost hope (I am personally trying to fix things) but I am just being realistic.

will galaxy young uptade to kitkat ? wiil it get a new uptade by samsung? if yes . when will get
please people stop creatiing threads like this - im getting bored it now
There may be ics builds now the drivers have been released
asking for ETA and demands are against xda rules and is just annoying
who knows what will happen in 5yrs time but I expect people will have new phones by then!
Best thing people can do is stop posting things like when we have xyz and I cant wait bla bla bla and just wait for the people who are compiling ics/cm9 to do it
It will be ready when its ready and not before
You will know its ready when it is posted - not before
Do we all get it now
sorry to be harsh but if you read the threads in the forum and the rules you would know the current state of play
Thank you
