Restore root w/o a PC - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got my unlock code for my G2 last / night. It was network lock and a bigger pain in the A** then usual cause the person who gave me the phone didn't pay the phone off so it got locked.
Well during the unlock process I kept having issues so I went into my SuperSU app and instead of hitting temporary unroot I hit full unroot. Don't have a computer with me and i won't have access to one for a bit cause I am sleeping in my car at the hospital cause my dad got a hella bad infection.
So is there anyway to root the G2 by just flashing the latest supersu zip like I do on my nexus 5 and 4 and 7 and a few other non nexus devices

How do I change my fonts without root

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You can't without having root access.
You need write permission on the system partition to change fonts. You can't get that without root access.
Why not root?
Because I had it rooted... then some jerk unplugged my phone while I was installing a new ROM.... I'm freaking lucky I was even able to recover it... I can't riot again.... I don't have the means or the know how

It is a relatively easy process. There are some good guides pinned in this forum that will walk you through the process. On top of that there are easy to use tools that can help you along the way. Don't give up, just have confidence you can do it

As mark said, its pretty easy to root, just do it manually without a toolkit if you are worried. You don't need a custom ROM to change fonts either, but if you do it again watch your phone and make sure it has at least 80% battery. Flashing a ROM should only take 1 minute, you should need to plug it in and charge

Rootchecker and returning to stock

Hey guys I'm on an AT&T D800... since Monday afternoon my phone had been unusable... it got extremely hot both front and back near the mid to top of the phone... and was just chewing through battery 31% in 15 minutes... so I powered down and left it numerous times on different stock based rooms and still no luck it would just overheat till it shutdown or battery died if I didn't turn it off... I managed to get it charged enough to restore my stock backup, unroot, and put the stock recovery back on and then did 2 factory resets with still no change... so I called at&t and they sent out a warranty replacement which will be here tomorrow.. so my question is do any of these return to stock methods actually clear rootchecker? That's my only worry that they'll see that and nail me the retail price of the phone... I didn't use a custom kernel just the roms...
I see conflicting stories from people saying yes it does it clear rootchecker and others saying no.. I would just try but I don't have WiFi so I don't burn up my months data just to find out it didn't work.
The phone seems to be working fine since I powered it up 2 hours ago but I'm worried about any residual/repeat issues or decreased lifespan of phone from the overheating issues
Thanks in advance!

Flashing a Stock .kdz works completely. Perhaps you should read this sticky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Thanks I've read that one before but I've also read other threads that say it still shows rooted when booted into download mode even after doing this reflashing

I'll give it a go though and see how it turns out
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Not a problem here...
Cool then I'll follow that method.. thanks again

Did you check to see why the battery was being depleted so fast? I am willing to bet the phone itself was fine, but some app was utilizing the entire CPU, which would heat the phone up and kill the battery quickly.
Which means it's entirely possible you'll have that issue with the new one as well.

Yeah but after 2 factory reset there were only unused factory installed apps

The rom restores I can see that holding true but after 2 complete resets and not adding any apps... not even setting up any Google services I don't know what it would be

5days old p600 won't turn on

Just picked up a p600 and has been working fine on the CM 2.0 ROM. Today however i try to turn on and no matter which buttons nothing is happening. Only once I got it into the recovery and choose to boot system but again black screen. Have I a did and am I better off switching for snapdragon version?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
When you can enter download mode (von down+power) try to flash stock rom with odin.
Wont even turn on at all black screen
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Only once did it randomly go into trwp recovery but its seen like a fault not software issue. Hope I can get a replacement
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its dead nothing happening with any button combos. Battery was 90%. Losing faith with Samsung had to get a replacement for a note 3 previously and have now switched to a nexus 5. May get a refund on this and wait on the nexus 10 2014 model

My condolences mate maybe there is a way to reset it with ADB commands or something? Wait till you get another answer, I don't know too much about these things myself.
I tried unplugging battery for 15mins opened it very carefully. But no luck. I'm just really annoyed as I lost data and its rooted so swap is only option
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What I didn't understand is why you not re-flash a ROM via recovery or flash a stock ROM via Odin to see if this solve your problem. That will be one of my first steps.
PS. Other options are connect the device in the black-screen-mode and check via adb if you can see anything. Maybe an access to log cat is her possible and to get an output to see what goes wrong.
I've been having the same problem.. I just bought mine on Monday. It has either shutdown it self or just doesn't want to turn on, but I have to press the power button and +- volume buttons to turn it back on.. Now, I'm just waiting for it to do it again so I can return it...

Nexus detected by anti theft security system

Odd things happen lately, no matter where I go with my nexus 4 anti theft systems at local stores like JC penny, Macy, old navy. Once I enter the store, the anti theft system beeps what the f**k? Or I leave the store. Anybody experiencing this?
I definitely can't say that I have

Nah, I don't think it's NFC, the maximum range is roughly around 10 cm, which is relatively short.
But what makes your think it's the Nexus that is triggering the alarm?
Well thought it was my vape at first. Its the phone in my op cuz happens to me and the wife she is stock I'm rooted. And its the only thing I'm my pocket when it happens JC Penny's old navy ross's k mart Walmart . its weird
Never had this happen nowhere in Germany. However I bought some boots once and months later in a random store the alarms went off. Showed one shoe was not unlocked when I bought it

Probably restore stock settings and lock my phone?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It does it to me on my rooted and my wife's stock nexus
This has never happened to me with either of my phones (N4 running AOSP custom rom or Atrix HD running CM11) or any of my past phones (iPhone 3GS jailbroken, Atrix 4G CM10), but my Surface Pro 2 does set off those things when going into my school library

The solution would probably be to stop hiding under your clothes the T-shirt that you grabbed from previous store!!
That would stop the noise ?

Phone call problems.

Hey all I was just wondering if anyone is having problems with receiving calls. It seems to happen more and more lately. What happens is the phone rings and I answer it but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. The phone then disconnects. It doesn't matter where I am so I don't think it's a phone network problem. I travel all over the place as I'm a truck driver. It seems to happen more when connected to a Bluetooth device but now it's starting to happen when not.
I'm am rooted and at present running on stock. It doesn't matter if I'm on stock or a custom ROM it does the same thing. I'm really regretting getting this phone and ready to go back to my DROID RAZR MAXX HD. I like the phone its blazing fast but it has issues which I've asked about before. I bought this phone on the Edge plan and did line swapping to keep unlimited data. But I'm ready to throw it in the garbage or sell it real cheap. Or starting all over and leaving it unrooted and see what happens. Really wanted root so I could tether when ever I want. Any suggestions?

Looks like I'm going back to my Motorola and throwing this in the trash with the tech support and replacement device issues. This will be the last Samsung device I buy.

Well I Odin back to stock and still having the same problems. I'm headed to Verizon today to see what they say. Hopefully I get lucky and don't get a bum replacement device.

I sold my note 3 back in January because of connectivity and phone quality issues ... been really missing the spen, multiwindow and sceen size as of late. Was thinking about coming back to the N3 but then I see stuff like this and remember why I left [emoji20]
May grab a note 2 instead ...
