What are your favorite PAID APPS? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Just got a $25 Google Play giftcard from my GF as a part of my Valentine's Day gift (part 2 will be the Galaxy Gear 2 when it comes out!).... so my question to you guys is what are some of your favorite paid apps for your Android?!
PS- I don't really play games on my phone, so game recommendations are appreciated, but I probably won't buy any!

You NEED ROM toolbox pro (there's a sale right now) it has all the goods you need. And Titanium backup if you don't have it.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

I agree. Those two are very good, but also I love the SlideIT keyboard. You can try the free version for like two weeks before buying. Poweramp is a great media player that I bought way back on the OG Evo, but I do like the stock one on this phone. Drastic is a great DS emulator if you wanna catch up on Pokemon. And of course there is XDA Premium or HD.

@daniel4653 Already have ROM Toolbox Pro and Titanium Backup (with pro key also)
@negativzeroe Already have SwiftKey.... I live and die by it! haha also I do not use my phone to play music and not too big on gaming on my phone as I said in OP and already have Tapatalk.
Thanks though fellas.... bring on any more!

Who can forget 3minit…… I love smart volume + and also of Course tapatalk pro

I don't ever do games but I tried Zen Pinball's Empire Strikes Back and wow that's amazing. Its only like a buck and really shows off the phones screen. Battery sucker though.
Lapse It PRO is a really awesome time lapse/stop motion app. You can record in full hd with pro, me and the kid been making Lego movies with it.

The S4 can already record in slow/fast mo.

These are most of my paid apps. I see others recommend them too and you've already got some too.
Titanium Pro, RomToolbox, RootExplorer, Greenify (paid/donation) version, Smart IR Remote, Mobile Odin Pro, SuperSU Pro, 3Minit (paid) and iSyncr for iTunes.

Lol I shouldve emphasized the stop motion animation part, it's actually really cool, you can set it to auto so you don't have to keep pausing and recording and it's extremely fluid. If you like making stop motion movies anyway.

Some questions before I buy...

1. Whats it like as a wireless hotspot, my Galaxy S2 is flaky at best with lots of dropouts?
2. Can it play avi files out of the box, and if not, whats playback like in Moboplayer, any sync issues?
3. What sort of games are currently available in the PS store?
4. Hows the camera?
5. Has anyone loaded Google Music and streamed their music?
Thanks all!!

This is just personal experience, but YMMV.
1. Wireless hotspot has worked great for me. I hook my iPad up to it when I'm at my grandparent's house and there's never any loss of connection. That's even on the awful Kentucky EDGE network, too.
2. I can't really help there because I never play those types of videos.
3. The PS store? If you mean the Playstation Pocket app, if you're in America (and possibly Canada), nothing. All you gots is Crash Bandicoot. FPSE is better for PS1 emulation, anyway, if that's what you're looking for. A lot of people get their games from Gameloft.
4. The camera is pretty decent. It's better than the camera on my old Desire HD that I sold. It would be better with different software (it's the AOSP app), so download Vignette or Camera 360 if you want better pictures. On this subject, the FFC looks black and white unless you're in good light.
5. I have and it worked fine on said slow network. The speaker is really loud, too.
adb shove iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread

2. The Stock Media Play can not play .avi straight out the box.....BUT......all you need to do is download a better media player and it will work straight out the box.
MoboPlayer is my recomendation to you. It plays everything i have thrown at it so far.
3. The actual Playstation games are not worth buying at all imo. Just download FPSE and get all your PS games on the emulator. (leglally you need to own the games before you download them, blah blah technical blah blah).
The Xperia Play games from Gameloft and a few other devs are quite decent quality. I love Gameloft games. Some people do not though. Remember this is a phone first and foremost. Not a dedicated games console.
4. Camera is OK. 5MP is decent. Not amazing, but clear enough to have them pictures full blown on your PC monitor without seeing many pixels.
The video recording is ok too. Not 720p, but not far off, it takes a keen eye to tell the difference.

2. Yes, Moboplayer works great. You'll have no issues playing standard def content, and in some cases 720p works too.
3. Very few, Crash bandicoot, midevil, and jet moto or something along those lines, haven't used it in a while. I used fpse and play the games I want to play (Final Fantasy VII in my case) I also use it for Super nintendo, nintendo, gameboy, and N64.
4. Fine for a cell camera. Not as good as the more camera oriented cyber-shot phones, but it holds it's own. Also the shoulder buttons make it easy to tak pictures compared to touch screen shutter.
As stated this phone has the loudest speakers out of any phones I've seen. It has two very nice cell phone speakers rather than the standard one, so everything from ring tones to games are plenty loud. They also have extremely good frequency response for cell phone speakers. Music, games, videos, everything sounds "fuller" on the Play compared to other phones.
Thanks all for the great answers.
Overall I just want to make sure I can load Google Music app despite being in the UK and that there aren't audio sync issues with avi files like some phones i've tried.

Reports are flooding in that Google has extended invites to its cloud-based music streaming service for residents of the UK. The buzz over Google Music has been building since it launched in the US following Google I/O.
In order to enjoy the music-streaming goodness that is Google Music Beta , you’ll need a Nexus S running Android 2.3.4. Users who fit the bill will be greeted with a self-install notification following the completion of the sign up on Google’s website.

If you're addicted to flashing ROM's, don't get it. I only got one because I traded my Inspire for it.
The game buttons are the selling point. I personally missed development going on...so my mom needed a phone with a SAMOLED so I got a Nexus S for her. :-D

Now that we have 2.2, what are some killer apps I need?

I mean solely for Android 2.2+. I've already gotten Netflix, Crackle (sadly, doesn't work, the sound goes really, really slow) and a few games I got off of Amazon's deal of the day that were 2.2+ only. There's obviously Flash 10.3, too. The other one I got (which I've been trying to get ahold of since I got my phone) is Kongregate Arcade.
Anything you guys know of that's a really good Android 2.2+ app that I'm missing?
If you put up the money get voodoo control plus and get voodoo sound v10... it makes this phone sound awesome via headphones xP

I'm actually working on trying to get the i9000 front facing camera mod to work on our Continuum. I need an i400 I can tear apart and do some fitment testing. I've seen some photos of the i9000 camera and the i500 (Fascinate) camera which I think is the same as the Continuum camera. It might work with a little trimming here and there. Ill post back once I have some results.
This is gonna sound pretty silly but the new Captain America game requires 2.2. I'm not much of a gamer but I actually bought it for $1 in the market and it installed then after the ~150mb download it gave me the error message on my stock Continuum. Took my son to the movie and we loved it, was looking forward to letting him play the game(which was well reviewed). Bah.
So happy to see this 2.2 update stuff. I'm going to have to do my homework now and make a visit to the darkside. I love this phone, will be more than happy to de-bing and de-bloat it!
Speaking of games: Plants vs Zombies and Peggle on the Amazon App store.
Was lucky enough to catch them free, but could not get them to run on Eclair.
+1 for netflix and google-music.
Being able install google search has been very nice as well.
So the Flash works well with this release?
Yes. I just spent the weekend streaming a UFC event on it :3

"My Motto: If you don't know how to do someone here on XDA, and don't know how to properly look through the threads or do a search, then you don't deserve to be flashing/changing anything (If the answer isn't already out there, that's different [obviously, lol]"

i9020 slows down to a CRAWL after 350 apps installed

Optimization Tip #1 (Too Many Apps)
It's very easy to reach those numbers in no time
specially when you are a phone game addict like me
with the limitation of the i9020 not having an external SD card support i never had as much freedom as i did when using the i9000, on that phone i easily reached 500 Apps in no time, and well the slow down is obvious.
so the Trick & Tip for this session is about keeping a good balance between performance, and still have those 300+ Apps installed in the phone without blowing up on you.
Requirement: TitaniumBackup
you will probably think uninstalling the Apps that you don't need, true, but that's not always the best way, however for Apps that you absolutely do not use at least once a month, they should definitely be gone from the phone.
to keep the phone from slowing down to a claw, specially when your launcher tries to load up all those Apps & icons, simply use Titanium Backup to FREEZE the ones that you don't use very often, but are still nice to have in the phone for those "emergencies" when you really need it the most, but you wished you had them installed, and not deleted just to keep your phone from running smooth.
just keep a shortcut of TitaniumBackup some where on the desktop launcher to have quick access to the Apps to freeze & unfreeze the other Apps that you want to keep in the phone.
Also all the less used Apps you can group them inside a folder, and make a shortcut of that folder on the desktop launcher, so that when you Unfreeze them you know exactly where to look for them, instead of having to scroll through the entire Apps drawer.
Another great idea, only for those with unlimited mobile internet access, is to use the DropBox feature of TitaniumBackup, and then store all those Apps you want to keep on the cloud, and restore them when you need them
That's all for today
Don't download 50 fart apps.

I think it would be easy to accumulate that number. However, i tend to go through and thin out the ones I dont use occasionally. I dont think id ever get to 350! Think ive got about 50 or so on there at the moment.
damn I only have 110 lol

I don't think I've ever had more than 10 downloaded... 350 is kind of overkill man. You can only play so many games...

[Q] Kindle Fire Must Haves

Ok folks, so I rooted and got CM7 up and running on my KF.
I am coming from my evo that has cm on it, and know what works well. I was wondering if we could get some input here as to what apps people really love for their kindle.
What apps suit the Kindle more so than other devices etc?
Basically....if you have a kindle fire...what apps or games can you not live without?
Kindle app is a must have
Wunderlist task manager, Evernote(note taking app), ComicRack eComic reader, EZ PDF Reader, Sketchbook Mobile
Screen Dim is a must to reduce the screen brightness while reading.
File Expert is the perfect file explorer.
Wifi explorer pro is top notch for file transfers
DROPBOX hands down incredible

Thanks for the screen dim suggestion!!!!!!!! Awesome

If you want games then here is a couple.
Tanked(3D multiplayer tank game lots of fun)
Fruit ninjas puss in boots.
Tank hero.
keep em coming....love the suggestions...the dimmer is very handy
Best Volume Widget
Touchscreen Booster
Go Launcher
Root Explorer
XDA Premium (duh, lol)

SPB Shell 3D...runs you a cool $15 but it's well worth it if you have multiple devices.

any way to make adw ex look better? i have it and like it but the ensity hack is no where near as good as go launcher. but i dont want to use go launcher because i cant customize it the way i want
Netflix and Remote VNC Pro. I use them every day.
Don't forget KeePass for managing your passwords and credentials.
Store the KeePass database in your Dropbox folder to sync it across multiple devices.
Castle Wars is also a very fun game!
Craigslist has an app which is very useful and saves your searches and constantly updates them...very cool to keep up with steals ya na what i mean
also, i dont recommend the facebook app...it's always been very trashy from my user experience both on the phone and kf
teamviewer is also a very very useful app to access your home based computer or work based computer and email files through the net which you forgot to put in your cloud maybe
All great apps on my phone, but even better with the Kindle Fire's excellent audio and video:
Netflix, YouTube, MX Video Player, Google Maps, Google Earth, YouVersion, IP Cam Viewer, RealVNC Viewer, Unified Remote, ADW Launcher.
