I noticed that when I am inside the app drawer, when I press the menu button, a two second delay is there before the actual menu come out. I compared this to my S3 as well as to my Note 8 and this delay does not exist.
The menu button outside the app drawer, i.e. the home screen or other quick launch pages is very quick (no delay between pressing the menu button and the actual menu coming out).
I am rooted, JB 4.3, running Stock ROM Rogers MJ4, SM-N900W8 with TouchWiz launcher.
Any idea if this is a settings thing?
I was manually debloating after root and I am concerned that I might have disabled something that would reflect the delay in pulling out the menu inside the app drawer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Whenever I'm in the applications menu > press the menu button > select SEARCH without a doubt it crashes, (but not into a reboot) kicks me out of the app menu and back to the home screen where I have to wait about 15 seconds for all the icons and widgets to reload before being able to do anything.
The phone was previously rooted until I foolishly updated to .621 and just until recently I was running the Nemus Launcher though I doubt that has anything to do with the current problem.
I searched both on XDA and on the internets but did't see anyone else having this issue though it could be my wording that's hindering the find.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
Hi, im running xnote v8 and was wondering, if there is anything available wether as an add on, wanam module or root app or an in rom tweak that can shorten the delay between when holding the home button to bring up the recent apps as I find it too long even on stock touchwiz.

I use xposed framework, and the module xposed aditions, you need root for this
When ever I tap on xposed aditions, it judt gives me a little prompt saying "This module does not provide a user interface" the module was already installed with the ROM I believe, tried Uninstalling it then reinstalling it but it doesnt uninstall although it says it does. And updating it doesnt work either as it saying "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is installed.
Any advice?

the reason there is delay when you press home button, is because system is waiting to see if it's double press to bring up voice command screen. There is a menu where you can disable double click and that should make wait much shorter, but I can't remember which menu is it ATM. This works on stock, I can't help with custom software.
Look in the Play store for Switcher. You can swipe from the bottom, left or right side of screen to open recent apps.

just install nova launcher or go launcher ex and create a gesture, one or two fingers sliding up to show the recent apps. a lot more convenient and quicker to access recents.

This seems like a much better option than trying to map a double click of the home key. Here's to hoping it works!
Is it possible to set the setting button on this rom? There is no option for it.

Can you clarify a little? I don't get what exactly you want to do.
I think he means the menu button on navbar.. Long press latest button for menu

Its redundant now since nearly every app has the 3 dots menu on top right
I personally like it on the bottom and I'm sure a bunch of others do too.
Keep pressed the recent button and you will have menu settings.

What if you want to quickly change settings in Nova, or one of many other apps? Long pressing the recents button is very convenient.
I still like to have the good old menu button there, I got used to it and I don't want to move my finger all the way to the top and have to grip the phone differently to hit menu..
So my order of buttons is this(from the left) - recent - back - home - menu -
I use g2 xposed to do that... So untill I can modify this on the g3 rom i will keep using the cloudyflex rom.

G2 Xposed is the best way to do this, but won't work with that ROM. Also I wouldn't get used to having that button. Google will likely pull the code in the next version or two so even ROM developers couldn't effectively make a consistent experience. It's only in there for backwards compatibility now for phones with the physical menu button.
To enable the hidden power menu follow belowmentioned instructions
go to homescreen
long press - click on widgets
drag settings widget (you will see diff options)
scroll down to find power saving
and there you will have all power saving settings including nvidia's custom settings.
Hope this helps.
I think you might mean:
Long tap on home screen, then tap Shortcuts.
(not widgets)

Try using stock launcher. It ought to be there.
Yep, it's a settings shortcut. Great find though, @kukuthejak.
how change dpi in hidden power management ? dolphin emulator android not is theare
i had a problem with my tablet turning off every night even after a factory reset and changing the sleep option found under the battery settings menu. I assumed it just crashed a lot. In this menu the option was set to turn off after 6 hours.. this hidden menu was causing the problems.
Is this the same set of power options found at the top left of the battery stats when pressing the 3 dots?
yes. Look at the screenshot
No because it misses the app settings on th the raw above.

I can't find settings-->power settings in either widgets or shortcuts??
Choose the widget power settings itself, drag it to one of your home screens and open it. You will find a tab above related to app power settings.

Nova, but I reverted just to try this and no power settings widget there either.
No "Power Settings" widget
When I drag "Settings", there is no Power Settings option
Thanks for your help!
Hah! Figured it out. I just really need to listen to directions. The screen doesn't look like it scrolls further but it does. The original instructions said to SCROLL to the option. Lol.
Thanks for your help, everybody.
Thanks for the tip
I flashed Lollipop 5.0.2 and GAPPS 5.0.1 onto my SM-N9005 the other day, however I can't access the app switcher. It used to be hold the home button, but now everything I've read said there should be a square symbol for accessing it where the back arrow is. My settings and back arrow are the same as they were on KitKat.
I tried installing an app switcher from the play store, but it always said that there were no apps running, even when I was in an app (and yes, I tried rebooting after installing it). I've spent hours searching for this and can't find anyone else having a similar problem. Can someone please help me get to the app switcher?
App switcher or recent apps panel comes up by holding home button

Not for me it doesn't. I've held it down for as long as 10 seconds and nothing happens. As soon as I release the home button it takes me to my home page. Makes me think that it's not installed or running properly. Is there a apk I can install?

Try all in one gestures in playstore
So i guess it's a CM12, aosp, whatever based rom.
It definitely has a "Button configuration setting" in the rom settings. Did you even look ?
The square simbol you are mentioning is there when you enable the soft keys (navigation bar) and acts like the recent apps switcher.
But the hardware buttons should work too, if you configure them right.

I'm using the Dirty Unicorn rom, I didn't realise you could change the button configurations. I looked through all the standard settings, didn't think to look in the dirty tweaks section. Thanks for your help
