safe to go back from 4.3 to 4.1.2?Yes - Xperia SP General

Can someone tell me is it safe to go back to 4.1.2 from 4.3?
Because 4.3 is worst firmware I ever tested,to bugy and lagy.
Its like 4.0 for xperia ray,now I feel that xperia ray is faster than this peace of sh..t!
Here is it little tutorial for downgrading if somebody needed:
1.Backup everything that is important (music,pictures,..)from internal storage to sd card or pc
2.Backup contacts on sd card
3.download stock TFT file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964 for all version of Sp
for Sp 5303 I'm using this TFT file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7GITlANAsLOTWZnMlVGV2NQdDA/edit?pli=1
4.flashtool tutorial thanks to mrjraider http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952

4.1.2 is faster than 4.3? I suggest you flash the ftf of Central European 4.3.

I'm on CE and sometime I feel like it's flying and sometimes it's so slow I don't know why.
I was flashing 2 times and always is a same.
I'm getting lots of camera stop, settings stops...
And what worries me most is heathing of the phone when I'm browsing net
And I have strange power offs when phone charging.

None of these happened to me... phone is a lot faster and stabler than with 4.1.2
It's not the firmwares' problem

I already downgraded my sp to 4.1.2. With 4.3 it was unresponsive, often freezing, slow opening apps, last night i had to "manually restart phone"(i am not sure how it is called, you open phone and stick pen in little hole until phone restart itself). I used this guide:
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/37-sony-xperia-sp-c5303
So i am on 4.1.2 until new JB update or hopefully KItKat.
Nama izgleda uvalise neku verziju 4.3 koja ne radi bas najbolje...

I'm downgrading right now to 4.1.2.
Nikad vise necu kupiti nijedan SONY uredjaj, kad imaju programere krembile.
Nije ni cudo sto su napisali da je KitKat under investigation, jer su jedva nabudzili i ovaj 4.3)

Da se vratim ja svom losem engleskom jos ban da ne dobije.
Xperia Sp is mid-range phone and it seems like Sony care only about their flagships and that's shame. XSP is great phone it just need nice update to improve camera and fix poor WiFi. I expected a lot from 4.3 and now i am disappointed. I will wait couple more months to see if Sony release new updates to improve camera, fix wifi, fix bravia engine, hopefully release promised KitKat. Then when they officially stop support for xsp i will unlock bootloader install cyanogenmod and i am pretty much happy with that .
I am not sure if other manufacturers are better with updates. So next time probably Sony's phone again but only flagship.

I'm again on 4.1.2 and no more lags and anything, only problem is sh..ty camera and wifi.
So I will stay on 4.1.2 until Sony mercy and improve 4.3, that will be 2016, maybe)

consider to root your SP instead if you really want to find fixes for that.. there is a lot of TUT here to learn and to make improve your phone, why not explore?..

I know everything about rooting because I have Xperia Ray with a custom rom and kernel with a root
I like to explore and try something new, but now for SP we don't have lot of good roms and because of my warranty I don't want to unlock BL.
I open this thread because system partition is different in 4.3 and I didn't know is it safe to go back to 4.1.2.
I will stay for now on 4.1.2 until we get update for 4.3 or Sony release source code for 4.3 and we get stable release CM10.2 with radio

yeah, i know that feeling too.
i haven't updated my SP as well, though i'm in 4.1 rooted.. i feel the same way and just hope for best to fix the bugs of 4.3.. hoping also to have a rooting exploit for 4.3..

No, you don't need to unlock bootloader, just install 4.1.2 with flashtool.
The only problem is that you will lose user data like call logs,sms,apps,contacts...

NEW firmware (10.1.1.A.1.319 and 10.3.A.0.407) certified for the Xperia Z

Sony has certified two new firmware's at PTCRB !!!
The first one based on 4.1.2 (i think), it is the 10.1.1.A.1.319 at Jun 4, 2013.
The second one based on 4.2.2 or maybe 4.3 (i think), it is the 10.3.A.0.407 at Jun 4, 2013, too.

Thats crazy, why became the C6606/6616 (the US T-Mobile Version) the newest firmware first. The funny you can buy this version of Xpereia Z only by T-Mobile US.
For two weeks i became the .253 and wait now of the .307, two weeks update is the new way of Sony update policy .

Done it on my first XZ, now if something goes wrong with this one theyll send it to repair and if i flash another rom even official sony im sure theyll use that as an excuse not to fix my phone.
After warranty expired then ill see, anyway really annoying to be stuck on old firmware.

Unlocking bootloaders has nothing to do with Flashtool. But yes, as long as you don't unlock your bootloader you can pretty much do whatever you want.
We're talking about flashing with flashtool, but how many people that own the phone never heard/went on XDA how many of them never heard of flashtool. All of those people rely on their operators to push updates.

Unless your phone from country "x " from provider "1" and you flashed to country "y" provider "n" so to be safe make a backup from your original blobs and take the time and learn how to create your "backup.ftf" ... At some point, could save your phone... Occasionally.

That's right. Before flashing anything to your phone, it's always a good idea to create a backup of the original firmware customization, so that you can easily restore your phone to factory state if required, especially if it's difficult to find an FTF file online with your customization.
Luckily, there is also a way to return to your original customization without FTF file, but it requires a rooted phone with a locked bootloader:
[GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization with SUS and create an FTF with Flashtool

I'm very happy that Sony is taking software updates seriously for its flagship phone. The more updates, the better the phone can become.

Thanks. I'll try Emma again soon. Ironic really - Emma is a Sony developer tool which is meant to give updates a bit sooner than the usual methods
For those of us that are on Cyanogen, is there any way of finding out if the FTF has any important firmware updates in there?
I can rename the .370 FTF to ZIP and see all the sin files, but the vast majority I am unsure about.
Otherwise, I can always nandroid and do it that way

Relock your BL or wait for a ftf.
The problem is not using a custom rom and update with pcc (the rom doesn't matter but the kernel yes), it's when your bl is unlocked you can't update via SUS/PCC no more.

When you flash a ftf file with flashtool, deselect DATA in the wipe section (box in top right corner). That will preserve your data when you flash.

Ok, sounds like a good compromise
When someone uses PCC to download the firmware, is a local copy stored?
Just wondering what the chances of getting this file are!
I like everything is this update, except the recent apps tray. Swiping away should always be 'swipe across' not 'swipe up or down'.
Few new features might have been nice, but can't complain. At least it's arrived!
It also has the thumb keyboard!

The newest 4.2 release is faster then the first 4.2 release.i flashed it over odin, and it was 30% faster then debloated first 4.2,even with bloatware and .odex files.4.1 isnt that good, belive me.

This is the link to the newest 4.2.Flash with odin, then open twrp, flash blackhawk kernel with samsung vendor blobs, reboot(TWRP will ask you to install superSU right after you press reboot and select yes).Remove unneeded bloatware from system/app and you have a fast 4.2 rom with all of samsungs beauty.

Cm is fatest and stablest! The mokee rom from @daavvis seems really nice, I like it a lot.
If you want stock, try the micro delta rom, if there is for p5100, or the uk variant or latest firm from sammy

If you don't want to lose warranty, call Samsung to help you with the update.
Otherwise, search and read about updating it yourself.
Anyone looking to try kitkat here is first test build cm11 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47408204

Using CM10.2, Droid4.3 with root. Trying to install iFruit, but it won't let me move the .obb into /sdcard/Android/obb/com.rockstargames.ifruit/, and it won't even let me delete the folder.
Tried using Es and Root Browser. Also tried using Fix Permissions in Recovery.
How do I fix this?

I was running stock 4.2.2 on my tab 2 10.1, and decided a week ago to try out 4.3.1 using the CM 10.2 nightly builds. I was very pleased with the 1105 build and have been using the 1108 build for the past 5 days. Much smoother, faster, and best of all, the bloatware Samsung puts in is gone! I've not seen any issues, or crashes so far.
so is there is no way?
is there a way to change the region code?

If you want to change region code you would have to root your tab (root loses warranty) so your best option is to go to sammobile.com/firmwares and download latest firm for your tab! This will not void your warranty! If u ever have a problem and you need to take your tab for repair through warranty you can flash the firm for your country and then take to Samsung
Press that thanks button!

Why not fasttrack 4.4.3, or won't that fix this so-called battery drain? Mine does not suffer from this battery drain.

I hope not, that would mean there is a really bad security flaw. There is a fine way for rooting (unlocking the bootloader) no need for more.

That would become harder and harder in future, a simple root method, with all these SELinux thing...

Those who got the device with a locked bootloader knew what that would imply and what they are getting into.
Now you, with a locked bootloader, wish that there will be a big security flaw for all devices (also the unlockable) just so that you have an easy root? That is really selfish.
Go back to 4.1.2, root, via any simple 1 click method, allow ota updates, done. Simple. Rooted 4.4.2 no bl unlock required.

Dear Technaudio,
how does one go back to 4.1.2?
I really want to go back, these new updates are doing the Z no good as far as i know. The UI looks worse, the camera makes a chirping sound when started fast and now the battery drains like a moterh****er too.
One thing I keep hearing which does not make sense is what is this battery drain that everyone keeps complaining about, I have had no problems since updating to Kitkat. What is normally recommended when doing and upgrade like this is to do a factory reset when you flash so you start fresh, that's what I did and I have not had one issue. I would say to guess this next update to come won't fix the problems you are having or it will create new issues as each update does. When I flash this next update I will be wiping all user data and apps and starting again as that is the easiest way to make sure any new issues don't affect your phone. I get no lag no battery drain no Google server issues nothing my update that I have is the best update Sony has done to date. If you are having these issues factory reset your phone and I bet you 100% all your issues will be gone!!!

Flash a .FTF file using flashtool.
Search the forum (XZ forum) for 4.1.2 .FTF roms, flash your device and done.
Be careful tho because if you don't untick that you want to keep your files, you will lose everything on your memory (SD card not included I believe)

They do go, until they start again! Just like with the original Devices bug, you could reset and it will be gone until something triggers the same wake lock.

I'm currently on a custom rom at the moment, I've not tried with 4.4.2 yet, as it only got released for UK in the last few days, but it's worked for every ota update before. However, if you've changed anything in /system it will fail.
I will do it sometime soon as there's a few annoyances with this custom rom, as there always is, and I've never had any problems with stock and root by doing it this way.
