Hello everyone. Within a month of receiving my tablet last year, I (or someone else using the tablet) somehow managed to damage one of the pins in the USB port and it no longer works. However, while researching the GNExus (I intend to purchase it soon) I began to wonder if the MHL Adapters for USB OTG will work with the Iconia? If anyone can confirm if it works or not I will greatly appreciate it. Here's a link to one that I intend to buy for the GNExus.

Thanks in advance!
Did you ever figure this out? I've had the a500 for awhile, just got the Nexus, picked up mhl adapter at same time. Would be slick if it works for a500 as-is, though I wouldn't be surprised if the micro-hdmi is much better to use...
Need to just get a micro-hdmi cable...
I think you misunderstood. I was referring to the USB OTG adapters. I did take the risk and buy one and unfortunately it doesn't work with the A500. Nothing I plug into it gets any power. Tried it with a friends HTC One X and it didn't seem to work there either. Not sure if it was supposed to work on the One X though.
Basically, it could just be a faulty cable, but it could also mean that it just isn't supported. Couldn't hurt to try if you already have one though
I already have a Micro-HDMI cable that I bought on Amazon a while ago. Works great and at $5 its a worthwhile investment
I'm running ****'s ICS ROM v158 based on Android 4.0.4 if it makes any difference.

Hi,
while configuring my Nexus 4 I noticed the "Wireless Display" possibility and did a little research.
Are there already receivers to buy?
BTW: Does the nexus Q support this and can act as a receiver? I want to buy one anyways when it becomes available.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4
Hello, as far as I know there are currently no receivers that can connect to the Nexus 4.
A lot of these devices that are out there (such as ones that support Intel's WiDi) can have their firmware upgraded and may eventually support the Nexus 4. After an update, my Nexus 4 is able to recognize my D-Link Mainstage but not connect to it. Intel WiDi 3.5 is supposed to be compatible with Miracast. Oh well, maybe I have to wait for 3.6
This was announced almost a year ago and has become such a clusterf**k, I'll be surprised if we ever see it (much like the Nexus Q, Nexus 7 dock, and Nexus 4 wireless charger, well... you get the idea). Thankfully, I don't have a need for it at this point. If I did, I'd have gone to an Apple device. Theirs has been working for years.
Dear All,
I know this has been asked countless times already, but I was wondering if the Samsung S3 USB connection kit would work with the N10.
I've seen the OTG cables and seemingly these work without a problem, but I find the cable to be a bit sloppy visually
and would like something a bit more discrete.
(edit)
I'm unable to post outside links on account of being a new member and all.
But If you put: "Mobile Fun Connection Kit for Samsung Galaxy S3 / Note 2" in google images it'll be the first ones to pop up.
There's a demo vid on youtube as well.
It seems to work great for the S3 and I don't see a reason why it would not work with the N10, but I wanted to be sure before actually purchasing.
ps. this was my first post so if I put it in the wrong forum or whatnot, Mods please do correct me.
Many thanks in advance,
K!P
That doesn't look discreet at all.
I don't see why it wouldn't work, but why not spend $1 on an OTG cable and have access to all the same features?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
err yeah! as blueback said, thats not descreet!
It will work as the micro sd card reader i made for my nexus 10 also works in my friends s3. There are better things out there though
Great,
Many thanks for the reply guys.
Indeed, discrete may not be the right word.
But I find it looks a bit cleaner.
I just find a loose cable a bit sloppy, hanging to the side.
This just goes a bit more with the lines of the device and plus it has the micro SD etc.
Me thinx me shall order this.
I'm actually still waiting for my N10 to arrive.
Paid a hefty premium on Ebay and still have to wait 2 weeks for delivery.
Thanks again for the input guys.
Much appreciated.

Hello all.
Just wanted to share my experience with my new nexus 7 tablet. I picked it up at bestbuy Friday since it was tax free weekend here in Tennessee. I must say I am very impressed with this tablet. I had the original N7, and sold it 2 months ago to purchase a 32 gb nexus 10. I fell in love with the N10 immediately. It was by far the best tablet I had ever used. Well, this new N7 is just as good if not better. I will say, it is hard to compare the two because they are vastly different animals. I personally think the new N7 beats the N10, especially spec wise, but with the difference in screen size, these two tablets are really designed for completely different tasks.
One thing I have not been able to sort out yet is being able to use usb storage with my new N7. I am able to use my external hard drive with my N10 as well as my new Macbook air and even my Galaxy Note 2, but have not been able to use it with my N7 yet. Furthermore, I am also unable to get my Macbook air to recognize my N7 without booting the macbook into Win7. Sometime in the near future I will root the new N7 and install stickmount and see if it will recognize usb storage. I have not
researched a root method yet for the N7 but I'm sure there is one available, and if not there will be one soon. Most likely this will fix my usb storage on the N7. Still kind of stumped as to why my Macbook will only recognize it when booted in Win7.
If anyone has any questions about the new N7 feel free to post or shoot me an email at [email protected]. I don't mind answering any questions you may have because I know personally I like to do as much research as possible before I buy a new piece of electronic equipment.
Droid Nas app will make it easy to transfer files in between your Macbook and your Nexus 7. I haves used it on both models.

Tax free weekend in Tennessee? Is that a normal thing that happens? Curious!
Does Galaxy tab 4 t231 have USB otg support? If not, can it be enabled by any method? Planning to buy this tablet. Please answer.. Thank you for your time

Would really love to know this too. It's my understanding previous versions of the Galaxy Tab support USB OTG, and would love to enable it on the Tab 4.
On my smartphone I have an option in settings to turn OTG on and off, unfortunately no option seems to exist on my Tab4. Assuming the Tab 4 has hardware support for it, how would I go about enabling OTG?
Bump...
Would LOVE a solution as well~!:good:
Ran USB Diagnostics. As of now there is no support whatsoever but a custom ROM or Kernel may be able to enable it. I suppose there is a slight chance since the larger variants have OTG support and the hardware is similar.
Edit: Playing around with some OTG apps, it appears that we do not have hardware support so there's about 70-90% chance the tablet will purely not support it and trying to do so would be impossible.

I ran that same app on my Tab4 as well, unfortunately I wasn't able to understand everything the app told me so I concluded OTG support on the Tab4 was inconclusive =P
Considering OTG is supported on the other Galaxy Tab devices, what reasoning would Samsung have to not enable this feature on the Tab4 7.0? Especially if the hardware is the same (or very similar) it just doesn't make any sense to me why they wouldn't give the Tab4 7.0 OTG support as well. It's actually very frustrating in 2014 that this Tab doesn't support OTG. I am almost considering returning it solely for this reason (I haven't yet, because I'm very pleased with everything else the Tab4 has to offer).
My cheap, Chinese sub $100 android ICS tablet I bought last year had OTG support! What gives Samsung? I sort of expect more from a major brand like Samsung.

So, I may be wrong but I believe the problem may be in chip set itself, since its Marvell CPU (I never heard of this company). However, the Tab 3 also carried an older Marvell CPU, which they were able to overcome this problem with a custom Kernel. So, may be this tablet has slight chance of having OTG support but Scumbag Samsung decided that they don't the cheaper tablet to sell.

Well I'll certainly be holding out on that slight chance for OTG support lol. I was really looking forward to using my tab 4 as a second display with DSLR Controller, so you can imagine my disappointment when it didn't work =/
Either way, if a dev ends up seeing this and wants to implement this feature, let me know if I can do anything help (beta testing custom kernels) or whatever, just let me know. I'm more than willing to help move this forward, even if it ends up not working.
Hi, on my t235 otg works. For now i've tested it inly with usb storage sticks (8gb tdk, 8gb toshiba and 16gb verbatim) - stock file manager and total commander fully works with it. I dont have any mouse or keyboard to check that it works on otg.

Correct, but 230 =/= 235. 235> 230.

HI Osiris, do you got OTG work with Tab4? i'm in a similar situation with a Canon 70D & DSLR Controller...
In the page of DSLRController is a list to compatibility & models
best regards
i am willing to test the otg kernel i have a cable and a few different usb devices i would like to use with my wifi only
unit
I was curious if my Tab 4 has usb otg support. Turns out it did, even tho those usb otg checker apps said it didn't. I was able to open up the stuf on my usb stick. My model is SM-T330NU and i'm on 4.4.2
Also, it also supports external dac (Tested with Fiio E17) and it works with spotfiy. I'm starting to like this tablet even more .
I would like to buy this cable in order to use my Tab 4 to charge my Nexus 4. (Only need this on the road charging done when I'm on vacation, which is every 2-3 years, making buying a battery bank not worth it)
Would this cable work fine?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Micro-USB-Ma...323059?hash=item419dbd9ab3:g:h94AAOSwuWVWE0V1
Please note my main objective is not accessing USB keys or HDD's, but purely use the cable to charge my phone. Accessing a USB media storage would be a bonus.

Hi is that a 7" or an 8"? The 8 has otg but my 7 doesn't as standard. If it's a 7" how did you get it to work? Would LOVE to get OTG working on my tab4 7" as it's literally the only reason I bought it and didn't realise and (wrongly) assumed) it would have it.
cheers
