Coming from an S3.
Why are things like the phone dialer and texting white? It doesnt look good! The s3 had a very elegant dark blue theme.
Idk how I feel about this phone.

Same here, but I don't think this is by design. If you look at the top bars you'll notice that the gradient is completely missing. Same in the system settings menu. Something went wrong.

If you think that Samsung just missed this then you'll be sadly disappointed when there's no update to change it. It was done by design. I actually like the change too.

yea its not bad... looks more elegant IMO
Dialer seems unfinished to me as well.
I guess I could get used to that but the default contact image is effing horrible

Yep, not wild about it myself. Looking forward to a ROM to Theme the dark colors back. I'm confused since dark colors improve the battery life.
One piece of the theme that I really like is the way the status bar has a wood grain texture when pulled down to view notifications. It ties the phone to its retail packaging in a subtle way.

What? Mine is just black.
And yes I am surprised as well because black colors are better for us.
Things like the dialer just look cheap in my opinion. Looking at the top tabs that are blue and a white dialer? What the heck.
And yes the default contact images are a joke.

Mine is black, too, but if you look closely it has wood grains running through it. It looks like wood that had been stained black.

Not the tray itself, just the status bar as it moves down the screen; the background of the area where it has the carrier name and a blue bar.

Odd. Still looks black to me. Oh well it doesn't really matter but thanks.
Hi All,
Is there actually a notification light on the 2nd gen Nexus 7? I've yet to see it light up. I have the box in settings checked off, but nothing.
Any insights?
J

Also In order for the light to come on, your screen has to be off.
Is it only white? Light flow can't change the colors.

It is definitely checked. Defective unit?

yep only white.
Oh, the things you learn in the XDA forums. I had originally thought that the notification light setting was a dead end, and immediately imagined how nice an LED pulse light would be on a tablet. Coming from the light-less ASUS TF300 that I just sold off for this... Absolutely brilliant. Placement on the tablet is a different story though...
Yeap mine work with all notification .
Hate only white though, should have more choices out of the box.

Well that's alright I guess. It's very useful on my phone bit I don't really need it on the tablet.

Try the app yourself.
you can't change colors. it's only a white led.

So, does it have a multi color led or not?
I'm interested in the new nexus 7 but notification led is a big deal for me :silly: as my current nexus 7 doesn't have it and I wish it had a multi color led.

.
Pulse LED stopped working
My LED notification light was working and now it isn't. I have the setting "on" but no bueno. Any idea how I get it to turn back on? I hadn't noticed it wasn't working until I read this thread...but I want it back!
This is super frustrating. International SM-N900. I first noticed this problem when setting my whatsapp blink LED colors and noticed that the colors was wrong. Turns out some the mapping is incorrect for the phone.
Can you guys test this along with me?
Download LED tester from google play.
I think the colors white and orange are broken

Damn that sucks - at least mine has a couple different colors.
I ran more test - even though the white looks green, it is actually a different shade than the actual green HEX color .. Don't know if I should be happy or not.
Tested with light manager 900T USA TMO works fine. Much better than the S3 which was like 4 colors.
Does your white has a green/yellow tinge?

The white is actual pretty white. Again coming from a TMO s3 that was never a pure color maybe my vision is skewed.

tested out one app already and the color wouldn't change from blue...i could only get it to show blue when i hit test no matter what color i selected... i'll try this other app some time, but i'm on the SM-N900W8 for what it's worth
First thing I noticed about mine N900T and wifes N900A. LED colors are all mashed up and mixed up.
I also just now ran the LED tester app, any color I chose results in the LED flashing green with a bit of red in it LOL
Excuse me if this has been addressed already but is there a way to change the colors of these buttons on the bottom of the phone?
Another thought, is there anyway to have the buttons flash certain colors when screen is off for notifications. I know we already have a led notification light but flashing buttons would be kinda cool too.

Probably not they aren't RGB leds like the notification light, just regular white leds.

Can't be done. Hardware limitation. Those buttons don't have colored lights behind them.

So when you test the white led you get nothing? I'd just point out that on my white note 3 the white led is quite "pink-ish"in colour, not really true white. Get LightFlow and test out the different led colours with that.
