I would like to know the opinion of you guys about the battery life of the Find 5 and possible future improvements.
Using the latest AOSP ROMS (in my case @maxwen AOKP, Aarons's PA 3.99 and CodefireX) I noticed that battery life is much better then on Oppo's Color ROM, yet it's still far from what I would expect from the device, I barely get more that 2 - 3 hours of screen time out of it on a daily basis. Compared to my last phone (S3) it's actually pretty bad.
Is there a chance that this is due to still poor sw sources from Oppo and might likely improve in the future or is the current battery life as good as it gets, what do you think?

Well, I hope the battery life gets better overall, I get around 3-4 hours on screen time, and that's pretty darn good. Using Spotify/Soundcloud all day long aswell as webbrowsing, Reddit, Twitter and Facebook. I guess the battery life is OK, but I hope it'll get better.
This phone got almost the same batterylife as my S3 4G, which is pretty bad. :/
And I wouldn't hope for Oppo to improve their sources, since it seems like they've no idea what they're doing. ColorROM is still a huge mess!

Thanks,
I agree that Color Rom is a nightmare but one can hope...
You seem to use your phone pretty much the same way I do but with somewhat better battery life. May I ask which rom/kernel you are using?
I'm currently on AOKP nightly from 28th September

Using latest CodefireX rom with audio fix, I've disabled some system things which seems to help with the battery. Just give me a PM if you want to know exactly what things I've disabled and how I've setup my phone!
Cheers,
Sebastian
I can't understand why everyone says he gets better batterylife with custom roms.
I tried the latest AOSP, PA, Cyanogenmod and gave them all a chance. I even changed the settings that hard, that i couldn't say it was a smartphone anymore... but i've never noticed better batterylife than with any color rom! And all the bugs on custom roms...
Actually i run Color ROM 1.0.1 (4.2.2)
Just bevore i ran Stable Cyanogenmod 10.1.3, PA 3.99, AOKP Maxween
Did you get other experience with the same roms or did you use other roms?

for me, I'm using the CM10.2 by maxwen / etc... definitely much better battery life, especially when on idle/screen-off/sleep... I can make the phone last >24 hours (couldn't do it with the original oppo rom)
settings that I've been using on that kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45835020&postcount=152

Ok. Yes, above 24h would be difficult with the color rom. But i never tried to reach 24h with cpu & gpu underclocking...
I think i use my phone relative often and with the ColorRom 4.2.2 i easily reach 12-14h.
And my thoughts on custom roms were, that wehen i have onscreen time i can watch them percents battery life falling and because of this i only got about 6-8h battery life with almost every Custom Rom.
I will post some screenshots of the batterylife with the ColorRom later this day and let you interpret them, ok?
Hi, this is my question: what is the best ROM for the battery life? Because i have try CM10.2 and whit medium utilization the battery lasts me one day or less . I saw that in some cases the battery life of defy with CM11 is better than CM10.2 but i have no time to try and not all is so.
Now i'm back to original stock rom (2.3.6) because with this rom the battery lasts two day with my normal utilization.
There is a Rom where the battery life during more or the same (and possibly with Android jelly bean or higher because I bought a lg g pad and the Qpair app does not work with older versions of Android )?
Sorry for my bad english
Ps: the other thread with this question are very very very old

try slimkat 3.0 stable build.
it has a good battery life with apps greenified
I'm on Cm11 M6 (D800) and my screen-on time is pretty poor, with the screen seeming to be the main culprit. I only get about 1.5–2 hrs of screen-on time and the battery depletes very fast when I have the screen on, even doing menial tasks. I'm on stock Cm11 and have BetterBatteryStats installed, but nothing unusual is showing up at all. I've blocked the usual Google Play Services culprits, but poor battery life still persists. I also use Greenify.
Any suggestions?
Change to Mahdi ROM would be my advice.
it seems like you're running an old monthly, why not update to the latest?

I've heard a lot of good things about that ROM. Are there any major bugs?
I updated to the latest nightly build (because stable development stopped at M6), but having the same issues.
Hello guys
I'm a CM based ROM lover and used Exodus Lollipop (CM) for some time, it is pretty good.
But as time goes by our battery starts needing some tweaks to maintain its acceptable performance level.
I wanted to try doze so I tried Pure Nexus (AOSP) for Mallow and it is good too, specially after using Taurus Kernel.
So I decided to move to Resurrection's (CM) using the same kernel, after seeing Pure is not updated with frequency.
Bam! Same battery consumption of Lollipop, on Mallow.
I'm not sure about it, that's why I'm asking here, have your guys ever noticed such a difference in battery performance between AOSP rooms and CM ones?
I always got poor battery backup on CM roms and sometimes average battery life. I got great to average battery backup on aosp roms but never had poor battery on aosp roms. It was mostly kernel which influenced battery life on aosp roms. CM on other hand didn't work well for me no matter which kernel i use. (since i prefer battery life)
I've tried cyanogenmod 12.1 and 13. They give terrible battery life...
Plus I've tried phronosis v5.2 which is ok..but not that much great with battery life..
So, which is the best ROM for note 3 considering battery life(without lag)?

Try Stock ROM or AryaMod (stock based) and flash Lean or Idle Kernel for battery life.
because Stock gives better battery anyday!
bob
Testet many roms but best and stabale battery friendly is aryamaod 5.3
The best is still debloated Kit Kat rom, either from jamal or rayman95 ☺

Try to look at ROM as linux distros.
Every ROM is bunch of apps, graphic and services put together while kernel is the one who makes the calls.
Kernel tells how every piece of hardware is going to be used including battery/cpu/gpu.
By installing custom kernel and lowering max freq. and minimizing active services you should get best results.
There are also undervolting uoptions and much more.
All in all its sad that you didint even bother to read any of existing articles about how android works ,battery management and kernel optimization.
Here are few articles you should read.
