So frustrating it was triggered by ROM Manager.
It asked me if I wanted to disable KNOX as it could cause problems. I didn't realise our want reversible.
Surely if I revert to a ROM using stock kernel if should go away?

unfortunately no KNOX is a hardware (eFuses) thing. Maybe in the future somebody can disable it Look in this thread : LINK they said that Samsung has a tool that can reset it but nobody from the outside got a hand on it

[Q] Stock installation with Knox 0x1

Hello everyone
I am now on CyanogenMod and I'm kinda sick of this "clean Android" and would like to go back to Samsung's TouchWiz.
The problem is I tripped Knox to 0x1 when I moved to CyangoenMod.
Can I go back to Stock or the Knox won't allow?
What procedure do I need to do to go back to stock?

Just download and flash regularly? Without any TriangleAway or things like that?
And what about this Knox?

Yup Just flash the stock rom and you should be fine and about Knox , dont worry about it because your phone is already voided , nothing else you can do about it until someone figure it out to reset it..and about the triangle away you can use this once you rooted your phone so that your Binary will be reset.

So after I install the stock I don't need to use Triangle Away?
Will I be able to receive OTA updates even though my Knox is 0x1?
Hi,
forget OTA updates,
and use always Odin for the updates.
It's better and faster
Yeah I know about it but anyway, will I be able to get OTA updates? And do I need to use Triangle Away after stock installation?

Its samsungs security feature that is built into the boatloader and software on the ROM as apps. It can be used by businesses (the U.S. military also adopted it) as a secure sand boxed environment to basically keep work and personal data separate. Any modifications (rooting/flashing custom ROM) to the phone that features Knox, triggers the Knox warranty and so flagging the device as compromised. You can still continue to flash ROMs etc but you cannot reverse the knox warranty counter.
First boot into download mode, if you see text on the top left saying 'Knox warranty 0x0', you have the Knox boot loader. Once you have this boot loader you can't downgrade. If you don't have any mention of Knox then you are on the old boot loader and can remain on it and flash away without triggering the Knox warranty.

Kernel is not seandroid enforcing

after I root my S4 during booting the following message appears on the screen:
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL
Can anyone explain me if this is normal or it's an error message?
The rooting was not completed?
Thank you.

Mate .
we need more information , what s4 model you have , what rom you had when rooted, what root method you used??
seem like you rooted but you set the warranty bit, knox kicked in
It's normal. That means you are on a custom kernel.

But I have one more question?
I saw that with the same rooting procedure (CF-Auto-Root Android 4.4.2 Package) this message was not displayed on the phone from the example. That was the reason that I started this thread, so I have to understand why my phone is displaying this message
Thank you.

Hi , rooting without setting the warranty bit is possible , like with towelroot , but flashing anything else like a Custom recovery , kernel or rom will kick in knox security

Yes S3 Neo has Knox. You can use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bryancandi.knoxcheck app to check if you have Knox.
Info :

0x1 Warranty void/You don't have knox

Software tools say it has. But after flashing different roms and recoveries gazzilion times mine still says 0x0. As you can see from the screenshot even atm I am using cm12.1 with TWRP recovery and it hasnt done anything to the counter. So to be honest I think no matter what you do you can just flash back stock from odin and keep waranty.

Heres another screenshot from Phone Info app. Now the since this app detects knox warranty void on models like s4, s5 and as far as I know s6, I highly doubt samsung went thru the trouble of putting some undetectable warranty counter and a mid range device such as our S3 neos.

I rooted mine the second day I got it (I got it somewhere around January). So far havent had any problems with it and the knox (if there is one) still says 0x0. That said rooting and flashing custom recovery is still something that may potentialy harm your device so its up to you to decide. Dont take my words as 100% proof everything will be ok. Maybe indeed w8 for a few more ppl to say if they had any problems with knox so far.

I checked my build.prop file and I found this "ro.config.knox=v00" I don"t know if it means, our phone has knox. I also found an app called "KNOX notification manager" in settings.

Knox isnt only related to warranty btw. It allso has to do with samsung enterprise security crap. Thats why we have some knox apps on our phones.
But again w8 for more reports from ppl who have rooted before you do it just to be safe.

Im thinking about flash CM 12.1 but i still have 1 year and 6 month's warranty.

Yep! Your warranty will not be void as long as your device is running a stock rom when you turn it in. You can check your binary counter by going to download mode.

If you flash CM 12.1 , it will trip the binary counter but you can always reset the binary counter with the help of Triangle Away App by ChainFire. Resetting the binary counter and then flashing the Stock Rom will restore the warranty of your device.

I'm not talking about Knox Counter but I'm talking about Binary Counter which every Samsung phone already have and keeps track of how many times a custom firmware had been flashed. And as far as Knox Security is concerned there is still no way to reset Knox counter but fortunately S3 NEO don't have it.

Try again, I was using stock ROM & kernel (Rooted) = KNOX Counter tripped = no Private Mode
Update: I've factory reset my phone and still can't get Private Mode to work. Used to work perfectly fine prior to 5.1.1?

It doesn't work anymore because KNOX Counter is tripped. You can't revert it.
sorry, double post
you could try with this: Original Samsung SE enforced kernel.
This is ONLY for N910F.

I don't know if such attitude is necessary or even allowed in this forum.
I'm talking based on my experience & others.
I was using rooted stock ROM & kernel but Private mode is disabled forever right after KNOX counter tripped.
If you can enable Private Mode while using custom kernel + tripped KNOX why don't you help OP instead?
I had mine rooted and Private Mode worked on 5.0 and without Xposed. I had the original Kernel rooted by chainfire so nothing fancy! Not sure what's changed in 5.1.1

Lollipop 5.1.1 can't be rooted ordinary way.
You need to use custom Permissive Kernel to be able to ROOT it.
It seems that your root attempt was failed (but no error message).
i succesfully rooted...even checked with "root checker" but was not able to make any change with the build.prop....
