How do I set a different activation method besides using the default drag handle. Cant seem to set a hardware key to do to as there is no option for it, only to open the app itself, not the switcher.

Install app (be sure, that app installed to /system/priv-app, it`s Important !!! Maybe reboot needed.)
Ok, OmniSwith drawer appears when you press key assigned as "Last App list" (sorry for my inaccurate translate)

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, it still does not work. If I try to double click Home button I still get Recent Apps List. I also tried all the Nova Launcher options for shortcuts as well.
What I was hoping to do was use a Gesture Launcher , like Nova Launcher (or others like LMT) and be bale to use a gesture to open up Omniswitch drawer .....
Any luck on this ?
I made a alternative...

Looking in this link: https://github.com/omnirom/android_frameworks_base/commit/13d9f74a72136786a8ddcf3fd02bf07ab2a02073 we can see how ominirom system call ominiswitch overlay. Thinking that I did a app that call the overlay and you can use in a custom gesture of your launcher.
If can help improve this alternite, help me on github: https://github.com/augustoicaro/Toggle-OmniSwitch
Note: Its only work if you really use omniswitch app(org.omnirom.omniswitch)

Just download app in my last post and overlay recent app's button function, if you can do this in your rom(button will call the app).
If not, call app as launcher's gesture or other way that you kwon to call a app.
When you call the app, the omniswicth overlay will open(like swipe blue overlay on right border).
If you can't config this, please pm me.
Please, check if packge of ominiswitch that you use is org.omnirom.ominiswitch. If not, send me via pm the packge name and I compile other app for your packge.
Cheers.

This apparently is a beta for a gesture app. Here's a quote from the above page with only minor editing...
"SWAT can manage touches and/or gestures that you perform on the screen, independently from app that is running.
Application doesn't have any configuration, it installs and when you boot it starts autamatically and it can handle these gestures:
- 2 FINGERS: SWIPE DOWN TO HIDE/SHOW STATUSBAR
- 3 FINGERS: SWIPE DOWN TO SIMULATE HOME BUTTON
- 5 FINGERS: LONG PRESS TO BRING UP RECENT APP LIST (NOT THE STACK)
I can suggest you to try to hide statusbar (2 FINGERS SWIPE DOWN) before or when you are into the BROWSER or when you are playing some game, this prevent [to press] inadvertently soft buttons or notification area. You will always minimize application (3 FINGERS SWIPE DOWN) to return to the home, or you can jump to another application by bringing up recent app list (5 FINGERS LONGPRESS)."

I haven't tested it or anything. I'm running ICS and I guess it isn't supported for some reason... It looks neat enough Tho. I'm just lurking around looking for something safe to post about. This looks like it'll do.
Edit.:
Another quote.
At the moment it is a EARLY BETA, it is not dangerous, but with many bugs to fix and many improvements to do. ONLY FOR HC ROMs beacuse into the ICS ROMs there is a bug into SU binary. I am waiting for the patch...

Maybe double press? Home2 Shortcut
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eikatou0.appspot.home2shortcut
I prefer double tap is just treated as two separate taps and leaves me in my home screen.
Long press the home button to launch voice search is ideal because I can initiate the press in my pocket as I pull out the phone.
This is one of the main reasons I've run cyanogenmod in the past. But if there is another way to get this functionality somehow through root access that would be ideal in the meantime.

You must turn off S-Voice. By default home double click is reserved for Samsung S-Voice.

Excellent.

Swipe up then down: retract notification menu
Swipe up then right: shortcut to contact
Swipe up then left: opens rss reader
Perfection.

You've got a few questions needing answered here, if you could provide more information, you'll get more direct responses.
As far as hybrid settings go, which ones are you attempting to change? Also, make sure when you go to settings/developer options, root is set to "apps & adb."

Something i was able to do with the cm10.2
Other than that the rom is perfect:good:

Hi everyone
Strange question but...
On such a larger screen than I'm use to.
Is there a better way to reach one handed the slide out hamburger menu in most apps?
Usually I use my thumb but it's such a stretch to get to the top corner, some apps do slide out from the side but seem inconsistent. I'm finding it very difficult.
I am rooted and was wondering any app or modification I could use to help me.
Thanks you for listening!

As you are on nougat that unfortunately rules out the possibility of xposed. Could this possibly be what you are looking for?

---------- Post added at 12:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:47 AM ----------
Okay, some roms have what you might want. Basically I recommend flashing pimps rr from androidfilehost.com. In settings go to configurations then gestures then pie control and enable it. Then with pie control there will be home, back, recent and 3 dots (...) which will be the hamburger menu in any app. You can customise stuff and this should help you out.
Thanks for your reply. Mainly want it for apps, but didn't want to flash a new rom.
If I hold the nexus 6p at the bottom of the phone, my thumbs are a real stretch to the hamburger menu or slide out.
I will take a look at what you have posted cheers man

I had a look at some apps but most just seem to be to access apps and not the hamburger icon. As far as I know you would need to flash a rom with this pie control gesture or you might not be able to do it at all.
You could give LMT a try, might have an option for what you need.

Thanks for replys. Still trying to get this to work.
Is it possible to set the back button in a app to toggle the hamburger menu? That would be handy because instead of backing out of the app slide from left in stead.
Cheers for patience, I did use the piepointer but found it quite difficult to use sometimes.
