Voicemail notification on reboot - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I use Google voice for my voicemail however on each reboot I receive a notification that I have 4 new voicemails in my sprint voicemail. I have called into my sprint voicemail to check this and it is not true. The notification is easily dismissed and doesn't return until the next system reboot so it isn't a very big deal. Still, it would be nice to ferret out this little glitch if possible. SPH-L720 running CM11.

Ever find a solution to this issue? I'm on a cm11 with Sprint=GV option also, and have consistently had the same issue.

This is an ongoing problem with most if not all non TW roms. I have looked everywhere trying to figure it out and cannot find anything that works for me. There are some posts about getting another phone and switching the number back and forth or something like that but I don't care enough to go through that hassle. I use NotifyClean on Xposed so the notification does not appear everytime I reboot.

Text message after getting voicemail

Ok so I'm on bonsai 1.1.3 with the new cwm and emotionless beast theme. This just started a couple days ago. When I get a new voicemail I then all of a sudden get a new text message. The text message is from 9016 and it says android ###-###-#### (the phone number that sent me the voicemail) has sent you a sprint voice message. Call 408-970-0000. Mmsn,106bee099,9fc6,v69bdosvezi//cm. This is just one example of one I got. Like I said it just started a couple days ago. Anyone ever had this and know what it is? It's really annoying when this happens. Thanks for your help!
Do you have the no bubble messaging app? Or the stock messaging app?

I have this too after I replaced the bubble MMS app with the white one with square pictures on the left (similar to a facebook chat looking thing). Looks like the evo sms app from what i've seen.
Is that whats causing it? All I did was push the Mms.apk from viperrom to bonsai 1.13
all you have to do is blacklist the number the text message comes from. Not sure if the stock app will do it, but handcent will.
I never changed my SMS or anything. I just updated the bonsai rom. As soon as I get my voicemail notification I get those new text messages.
This is happening to me as well.
this is going to be funny...
but can someone attach the MMS.apk that is causing..i kinda actually want this to happen after i get a voicemail..
thanks
No 9016 txt with qr 2.7 b ut when I added on the 1.7.3 theme I get the txt

I just have my VM setup to forward to my Google Voice number. That way I never get VM in my Sprint inbox - no fuss with visual VM either. You can use either the Google Voice app or have Google Voice send you a text.
Anybody know why its happening. Is it something in the bonsai rom cause.i havent messed with my sms and voicemail?
Sent from my Evo killer!
that is the visual voicemail to text thing it happens on all phones with vvm to text, call tech support tell them to block the number from texting and problem solved, i have to do this a few times a day d]since i do their tech support lol
Its from the messaging app with the rom. Its using the no bubble mod with the 5mb mod. I figured out that was causing it and just found a stock messaging.apk in the theme forums. Once you switch it out, call your self a couple times and you will notice the text after voicemail goes away.

Check in the theme section for the no bubble mod mms.apk. I would post it but I'm at work and don't have a computer near by.

I'm not positive, but I think if you are getting VM notification texts saying "call 408-970-0000(or any number)to listen to your VM messages, its because your voice mail isn't provisioned properly. The network doesn't realize your phone has visual voice mail, so its sending you a text to let you know to call to hear them. This happened to me a few times on my HTC hero when flashing cyanogen mod, and also a few times on my epic when i had a bad flash, or i had a poor signal on my first boot.
You should be receiving a message with a sort of code in it, something like {android}/noreply/notificationon(i don't remember the exact syntacs or message, but it will look something like that) it was caused by your MMS.apk.
When i had the provisioning issue, this is what i did to resolve it:
1. Dialed *38(resets VM to carrier in case it as setup to go to google voice, or other third party VM).
2. Open the VVM app
3. Hit menu
4. press Compose
5. in the "to" field put "[email protected]"
6. press record
7. as soon as the "send" button ungrays and ill allow you to, press it.
If this doesn't work you can try making a nandroid backup and odining to a stock rom, then re-rooting and restoring your nandroid.
Best of luck

I have this same issue, but when I blacklist it with Handcent, it still gives me a notification that I have an unread text message even though it doesn't show up on my conversation list...Looks like I might just have to go back to stock and re-root unfortunately...
PS - Also tried the above and haven't seen any changes, still get the stupid 9016 text that I have an unread voicemail...
Well I did the email to activate and got a txt back. Still get the 9016...odd didn't happed on qr 2.67 but mold mms is 1.73 theme did....

I'm pretty sure this is google voicemail interfering with your regular voice mail. You need to go into gvoice and deactivate the number from going to google, and it will stop.
I'm using viper rom and get the same text message so it is not rom specific. I have tried the messaging.apk change and still get the messages. Does not appear anything is working so far to stop the texts

Hey mikel719 or anyone who has the stock Froyo Messaging app, can you please post it here so we can fix the issue if we dont want to download handcent to blacklist or download redlist to hide the message?

[Q] Not getting voicemail notification

Hi,
Hope someone can help, I am running the Offical EE03 posted by k0nane and so far love the rom but running into a couple of errors and wondered if anyone had any thoughts
First problem and maybe the only important one, if i get a voicemail my phone does not notify me nor does any show up in the Voicemail app. Only way is to check the voicemail manually but sometimes i don't realize that I have a voicemail for days, even weeks. If anyone knows a way to initialize it I would be appriciative.
Other problem I have found but not nearly as pressing is I can't be heard if I use speakerphone or a headset with a mic, I can however use just regular ear buds leave phone in lap and they can hear me just fine
Why don't you update to ef02? That may help. You are still using the first GB leak.

Was having this issue on everything above ec05 as well.. might work for ya
turn off wifi turn on 4g
send a vvm to [email protected]
it seems that it doesnt know where to go on 3g, and CANT go on wifi but on 4g it connects and activates and provisions fine.
Thanks, guess i'll have to install new version cause it worked and it also didnt, it notifies me that there is a message waiting but VM app can't download it
Having the same issue with EF02. I tried the activate email address but I just get the message that voicemail failed to provision.

through a bit of googling it appears to be related to using a non stock messaging app. I'm surprised more people aren't reporting it. It caused some major problems at work today for me.
Apparently Go Sms Pro has a toggle to make it only handle incoming messages but it's not where it's supposed to be (Settings-Receive Settings).
Using stock Samsprint bubble mms and no go. /shrug
Didn't know mms app handled the activation voice mail response.
If I get some time will test the aosp mms app. See if that makes a diff.

Hmm, yeah I'm on Bonsai EC05. This has to have something to do on Sprint's side.
Ok, for a few users it appears to be related to new settings in Handcent and Go SMS
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/305100#305100
For Go SMS users the July 1 update has a setting that automatically disables the notifications in the default messaging app. You can find it under "Receive Settings"
After you've disabled it try composing a voicemail to yourself and all the remaining ones should download.
Those on stock, I'm still not sure what's causing it but maybe try composing a voicemail to yourself and see if that fixes it?

Voicemail icon stuck?

My voicemail icon keeps coming back randomly even though I have nothing in my voicemail box. Does anyone know what causes this? It's getting reeeeeally annoying!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Is it just saying you have a voicemail or is there another message displayed when you drop down your notifications?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It's saying 'New Voicemail' but there isn't one. Not rooted, no ROM, totally stock.
Not sure about that issue. I know I would get the icon and it stated inbox full if I had less than 100MB (maybe 200MB) of available space on the phone. I had to go through everything and figure out what I really needed on the phone and get rid of the extra junk (thanks Amazon).
You might want to try dialing into your voicemail and see if there is actually a message that visual voicemail isn't downloading. I had that happen on my G1.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nope, that didnt do anything. This is so annoying. I dont want to have to hard reset over this.
Anyone else have any ideas? Something occurred to me just now. I remember I created a voicemail message by accident by calling my phone with Google Talk on my laptop. I then deleted the voicemail in Google Voice on the laptop. But I'm wondering if MAYBE the message was deleted but the notification was still sent out from Google to my phone and got stuck there when I deleted the message online.?? That make sense?
Sent from the XDA App
This happened to me once a long time ago (back when I had a measly Nokia dumbphone). It had something to do with my service provider's network. From what I can remember, which may or may not be accurate, is that the voicemail icon is turned on/off by an unseen sms. For some reason, my phone wasn't getting the "off" sms or something. I ended up calling my service provider and then they sent something across the network that sort of reset that. No idea what they did, but it worked.
Go to <settings <call and click "Clear voicemail notification"

I had the same problem, and this worked. Thanks!
I had the same problem recently. I grabbed my wife's phone and left myself a message, it fixed it.
Done. Fixed. My wife called the phone, left a new message, we deleted it and the notice hasnt come back.

I need a Voicemail recommendation ASAP please!

I do NOT want Google Voice or YouMail. Let me get that out there right away. I also don't want to have to explain why several times, so just know up front I do not want either of them. I've tried them both and I do not like them.
I'm on MidNIGHT ROM 5.3. For some reason I am no longer receiving VM notifications of any kind. Nothing visual, nothing audible. When I go in VM it says it is trying to access my account but it fails every time. I check for a VM upgrade & it says "general fail".
After an hour on the phone with Sprint they want me to go to a repair center & do a hard reset on my phone. I do not want to do that for 2 reasons: 1) I don't want them to discover that my phone is rooted and 2) I don't want to deal with setting everything up again. Even if everything is backed up it still takes time to get it back to where it was. Don't want to deal with that.
So what I am looking for is a voicemail app that most closely replicates the stock Android voicemail app. I don't need anything fancy...I just want something that is going to notify me when someone leaves a message.
Please help me out and suggest away!
Thanks!!!
Took awhile, but I found one. It's a free app called "Visual Voicemail +". So far it seems to be working well. So if anyone finds themselves in this situation with the stock app this is a good option!
hullomail smart voicemail. Works great. doesn't transcribe but that never works well anyway. I bought the paid version so I could record custom greetings for callers but free works fine too.

No voicemail notifications

I've been getting voicemails recently and am not receiving any notifications stating to call into my voicemail to verify them. I do not have enhanced voicemail (or voicemail to txt) but my plan still has voicemail. I've looked everywhere and cannot find any notifications or voicemail app on how to enable these notifications? Can anyone please guide me in the right direction, I don't feel like calling my voicemail everyday to verify if someone has left me a message.
I had this problem on an older phone (lollipop) on Sprint. Doing some Google searches brought me to a really odd solution. I was using Google's messaging app instead of the stock one. Reverting to the stock app and rebooting solved the issue. If you've switched SMS apps, it's worth a try.
ya im using yaata messaging i believe this might be the issue.. ill try reverting and see what happens
thanks!
