[Q] Question About Which GS4 Variants Can Flash Certain Roms - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have a recently purchased i9505g (Google Edition) Galaxy S4. After unlocking the bootloader, installing a custom recovery, and rooting, I have become curious about which ROMs specifically I can flash on my device. I understand that some variants have different internal components which can render improper devices bricked. If anyone can tell me which GS4 Development threads I can download ROMs from, I would be extremely thankful!

Use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop
Be sure to read the flashing instructions for the rom you wish to flash.
Make sure you make a nandroid backup before flashing anything.
Good luck!

Thank you for the information. Just for clarity, the i9505g CAN in fact flash the i9505 ROMs?

Anyone?

[Q] Include i9505G Sub-Forum?

Hi,
I was just wondering if there's any chance that we could get a sub-forum for the i9505G. This phone uses a completely different bootloader and partition, which means it uses different recoveries and bootloaders. Because of this, many i9505G users have flashed i9505 recoveries and soft-bricked their phone. Luckily, there has been one thread on here that brought our paperweight back to life. :good:

[Q] stock i9505

sorry, but im a noob at all this.
to take advantage of Modaco.SWITCH. i need an i9505. is it possible to odin the stock i9505 firmware on the i337. i am running the i9505 cyanogenmod on my i337, so i know it is possible.
please help
i know this has been asked many times, but i still haven't got anywhere
No you can't. You'll end up bricking your phone.
Don't use ODIN. Grab an i9505 ROM from the i9505 section (don't flash any modems, bootloaders, etc). They're the same device; they just support different LTE frequencies.

[Q] Question on roms for GPE Galaxy S4

Sorry but I had to post this here instead of the dedicated GPE forum as I am a newer member and could not post in the development section yet. I have a question about the compatibility of some of the more popular roms with the Google play edition of the S4. I currently own the AT&T variant of the S4 and just purchased the GPE as I am sick of not being able to flash Paranoid on my device due to the locked bootloader. When I purchased the GPE I was under the impression that with the unlocked bootloader I would be able to flash whatever I wanted on the device but from the research that I have done it seems like there is not a lot of support for the GPE and therefore only a few roms out there.
I was trying to find out if it will be difficult to get one of the carrier versions of even PA 3.99 to run on the GPE S4 with minimal changes hopefully just to the update script? Please forgive this post residing here but I have read through all of the threads on the i9505g and haven't really come across good answers. I don't know if I should keep the GPE if there is not a lot of rom support as that is my main reason for purchasing it being that I already have the locked carrier version.
Thanks guys ...
Just in case anyone was in the same situation as me ... I went ahead and flashed the nightly CM 11 for the international version and it worked. I have been using for a day now and have not had any issues. Pretty happy !

Flashing I9505G ROMs

I have an I337M and have flashed many
different ROMs on my phone from other
S4 variants, but was wondering if I can
Flash a Google Play Edition S4 ROM?
I want to make my own personal build
Using the GPE firmware but don't know
If the mount points are the same.
I'm not near a computer otherwise I'd
check myself, just wondering if anyone
could fill me in quickly.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

[Q] Flashing ROMs from different variants

Okay, so I have the N910f Note 4 and my question is whether we are able to flash AOSP/CM12 based roms created for other snapdragon variants of the Note 4 on our device?
I have attempted to install PAC-Man rom for the T-Mobile variant however it gave me an error so I decided to flash the T-Mobile variant TWRP to see if it helps with the issue; however the flashing process went further than before but it gave me the error of unable to mount /system.
As I previously owned an S4 I was able to flash ROMs made for any snapdragon variant S4, is there anything preventing this from happening on the Note 4?

Hi,
It is possible to flash CM12 but only that is ported to exactly N910F. Sometimes it is possible to Flash Roms of G-Variants on F and other way around. I'm not sure about T-Mobile variants.
So if you want to install AOSP/CM12 just flash one that is for F-variant. There are some ready:
