Dual Monitor (Touch/Non-touch) Fix. - Windows 8 General

Hi All,
I have a dual monitor setup with one touch and one non-touch. The problem that I had was in-order to make my touch screen work I had to make it the default. I did not want that as my other monitor (non-touch) was larger. I have been searching all the various forums for a solution. I found it on the Surface Geek web site. The instructions follow:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I know that you guys are going to think I am crazy, but I recently bought a new machine that has a touchscreen. I had already bought a touchscreen for my old machine and decided I wanted to go dual monitors with each a touchscreen. I found an interesting problem. It appears that Window 8 sees the touchscreen input differently than the monitor. Sorta makes sense, how is it supposed to know which touchscreen goes to which monitor. I looked on the web to see if I could find a solution and nothing could be found except others complaining about this as well. Well, I am happy to say that I figured out how to associate the touchscreen of each monitor to the correct one.
You have to go into your control panel. Click on Hardware and Sound. Click on Tablet PC Settings. Click on Setup under Configure your pen and touch displays. Then you have to touch the screen that is showing the text. Click OK or Next and then click the next one when the words come on this one. This allows the computer to know which screen is which screen. Otherwise it appears that it just thinks that both are one. Hope this helps.

Need more info. Is it just not touch sensitive is the screen blank, have you soft reset etc.
Mike
Its just not touch sensetive, i have soft reset. Someone told me to hard reset and now i'm stuck in the "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile-based device". It won't acknowlege the tap.
Have you accidentally dropped it or anything to that effect??
Or is this literally just since you tweaked the clock refresh rate??
It's literally sine i tweaked the clock refresh rate. I havent dropped it or done anything else like that.
Joe
I probably need i new screen, don't i?
Thanks for your replies
Joe
try reflashing a new ROM in it if you ****ed with the clock speed that was stupid since i dont think at the moment there are any apps that properly clock the processor

I would just be cautious not to assume a screen fault as opposed to some other fault. If you are taking it for repair that's one thing but if you were thinking of replacing the screen yourself it might still not work.

You were right, my friend owns an electronics shop and had a spare screen. I replaced it and it still doesn't work.

Update!
My touch screen does work! If i hold the stylus in the top left corner of the screen and drag it down, the start menu appears. I can also go up and down in the settings menu. I have followed the instructions for screen alignment, hasn't made any difference.
Where should i go from here?
thanks
Joe
I have the same situation as you.
I took my x01ht to a repair shop. Touch screen replacement is not work.
The technician said that hermes uses Samsung CPU which integrates with touch screen controller.
In order to fix our problem, replacing the CPU(board) is needed.
Don't know whether that is true or not

Somehow get to the notes application and try drawing on the screen. This will let you know whether only the left side of the screen is working.
If you get weird shapes coming up then you'll just have to send it for repair as it's not as people often assume, just a screen problem.
EDIT: Hang on!!! How can you have done the screen alignment if the screen is not touch sensitive at the 5 crosshairs on screen??????

That is possible, though without being able to test the device it's not possible to say for sure.

Screen Turns White When Opening To KeyBoard

I have a MDA and i got it from a friend and used it find for about 2 months
and then outta no where the touch screen stop working but the screen would still display i tried reflashing it and i got nothing still non working touch screen then today i went to open it to type a text message and my screen goes completely white while in keyboard mode
anyone gotta idea whats wrong?
This is quite likely a loose hardware connection. There's a thread here somewhere with a link to the hardware manual. You need to take the unit apart and check all the connectors going to the screen.
The caveat to this is, if you've recently loaded any software, that should be the first suspect. Barring that, though, I'd fall back to the hardware fault.
alright yeah thats what one of my friends was saying
he has a mda also and he was like sounds like wires are coming lose
any ideas on where that thread is?

Problamatic LCD screen on my Wing looking for help.

OK I have had my T-mobile Wing aka HTC Herald since last April.
Just a few days ago I encountered a problem with my lcd. And I would like your guys feedback if possible before I purchase an lcd replacement.
My problem is when I slide open the wing my screen starts to fade, (almost making it look like a negative from a picture) after that it starts to fade to different colors.
Now the problem persists when the phone is closed, however if I tap the top of my wing and hold it the screen becomes normal, but once I let go it starts to fade again.
I would like to know if any of you experienced this with ur phone and if a replacement lcd screen will fix the problem or am I sol?
If it helps im running my wing on Open Touch v6.0 WM 6.1 Build 20273.1.3.3
Thanks in advance.
LCD problems
Hello,
I too have some weird LCD problems and instead of creating a new thread I thought of posting in this one.
For the past few months, whenever I get a call or resume my phone from standby mode using the power button the entire screen goes white or sometimes it has green or blue colored lines all over them. I have to keep on pressing the power button few times to get proper display. Also whenever I open the qwerty keyboard the display goes blank. Since I am out of warranty Tmobile is not ready to replace the phone and I contacted the HTC customer service and they told that the display unit and some hardware stuff is gone and it needs to be replaced and will cost a minimum of 170$ and will increase if they had to replace some other hardware.
Please note that, my screen is NOT broken and the touch screen too works fine. Recently the display has gone completely blank or too faded even to see whats there in the screen I could barely see the today screen.
I searched and I did not find any similar issues that other folks have faced. Since the LCD and the touch screen is not broken replacing them is not going to fix the issue, correct? I was using open touch and recently I updated the latest official Tmobile release of ROM 6.26.xxx. I also tried the hard resets too.
Any other ideas/suggestions will be of great help for me. Thanks in advance.
I am having some similar problems as well, but my problem is much more severe. My screen is completely black and it just happened this past weekend. When i slide the phone the screen used to flicker but now it black as well. Phone works fine but is useless due to the fact the the screen is out. I remember seeing a program where you can interact with your phone via your pc when something was wrong w/ your screen (cracked, broken, etc.) I have searched the forum but to no avail. The program was very simple and effective. I plan on replacing my phone but would like to retrieve some info off the one I have. I just need that program! Anyone please HELP US!

[Q] How to disable touchscreen?

How to disable touchscreen on the Vega/Mobii device?
The reason why I ask is becuase touchscreen on my tablet was broken and doesn't work correctly.
(Sorry for my poor english )
If you disabled the touch screen, you wouldn't be able to use the tablet, so there is no way for you to disable it. If it doesn't work properly, just return it.

Wrong. It works with mouse.

If its broken and you cant return it I would open ir up and pull the connection for the digitiser that would disable the touchscreen. You could also try to fix it that way you can get replacements there was a discussion on modaco about replacing screens and digitizers not long ago.

Point taken. Still, it is obviously not designed to work that way. I have read that people are not seeing mice's pointers in their Vegas.
And believe me, I've tried all the ROMs and there is none which allows you to deactivate the touchscreen. Another thing is that you follow our colleague's suggestion and disable it hardware-wise.

I'm not sure about the right connector there, so prefer to do this by software.

Yeah, not any mouse will work with this tablet.
Generic 7 inch tablet
I know this is an old thread but it seemed like an appropriate one to use. I have a similar problem in that the digitiser is broken on a cheap Chinese 7 inch tablet running ice cream sandwich. It works with mouse fine so I tried disconnecting the touch screen. Unfortunately, pulling the connector leaves all the capacitive inputs floating which means thousands of random perceived touches all over the screen at once. I have the device in USB debugging mode so can see the touches everywhere. I've plugged the touch panel back in and managed to pinch the top right hand corner of the display enough to make it semi usable while I use the mouse and navigate through the menus etc. but this is no real fix. I'm keen to pull the touch panel off altogether and was wondering if there is a way to disable touch using USB debugging. I know little about ADB and SDK but am happy to follow my nose. I saw a post on another forum that showed a way to do it through a command line but don't know if the commands are device specific or not...
All the info I have on the device can be found here:
ebay.com/itm/7-Android-4-0-3-tablet-PC-MID-capacitive-screen-BOXCHIP-A13-1-5GHZ-4GB-WIFI-/380529621971?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item5899553bd3
The link was provided by the person who gave the tablet to me. (After he had broken it)
Any help on this thread or advice on where to find the answer on this forum or indeed where I should create a new thread if suitable would be greatly appreciated.
Well, for anyone with this problem, I managed a way of disable the touchscreen in a JXD S5800, but I think it could work in any other device, just always make a backup after testing anything.

If you have root / su you can:
Code:
rm -rf /dev/input/event0
You need to check wich event[0-X] is the right one. On my phone it is event0.

[Multitouch] Wrong recognition

Hey guys I always knew that multitouch on HD2 isn't pefect at all, but now I noticed a peculiar behavior which I was not aware (tnx to ICS)...
enabling a function in developer settings to show pointers position I discovered that multitouch is working in a wrong way.
When you put the second finger over the screen it is recognized correctly but when you move it close to the same axis of the first one (both vertical and horizontal axis), it automatically get aligned on the same abscissa or ordinate (depends which axis was closer) even if the fingers are not aligned.
This is frustrating when I use some apps that take advantage of multitouch, such as games or emulators, because while I'm pressing a key on the screen and I need to press another one on the opposite side, but not perfectly aligned, I get a wrong recognition and often I press another key or a blank space.
I hope I was clear, but to understand better the problem you should activate that function in developer settings and try yourself.
Please give me a hope to think it is a solvable problem... maybe with a better driver :fingers-crossed:
That's just the screen I'm afraid. I've had the same issue with every ROM I've tried, and there's nothing you can do to solve it. At the very least, it's nice for me to hear some confirmation that I'm not the only one who experiences this.

I read around the forum that HD2 has hardware capabilities, so I think we need to get better input driver
The hardware doesn't support more than 2 points, and it does this rather poorly too. It's not so bad when using things like pinch to zoom or using two fingers to turn the map in Google Maps but when gaming it can be a bit of a pain. There's no driver that can increase the number of points the HW can support (if there was one then surely it would already have been implemented in Android) so afaik there's genuinely nothing that can be done about this. If there is, I'm sure someone will correct me soon.
It's a known issue and we can do nothing about it because of not so good touchscreen. Hardware problem, you know. It's present in every OS and in every ROM. For gaming I'd recommend getting a PS3 controller or using OTG cable and some other gamepads, like the X360 one.

Maybe you're right, an external controller is the best choice, but I don't want to bring with me other accessory when I'm outside... for the wrong recognition I think it's just driver fault because the problem is software side. When I use one finger is really precise the issue is when I try to use two fingers, because the driver is written wrong and read a fake position
Maybe this makes things a bit clearer. http://www.tactyl.com/fr/telecharger/39-drivers
Back in the days, there weren't that many "multitouch" apps out there for android.
If you look at the nexus one, it's even worse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5puAvPqXpuc
From reading one of the booklets that came with the HD2 it all comes down to single-touch and a pinch-to-zoom gesture which both work most of the time.
Some people who developed emulators at that time, tried to avoid this "autoalignment" by putting the pads in opposite corners.
While still many people don't know that pressing on the edge of the screen, of the HD2, with at least one finger can cause
a swap in the y-axis once the second input is on the screen. (almost like in the nexus one video)
In very good light you can see this "edge-area", it's about ~4mm thick on each edge.
You can always download MVT and test it yourself. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.batterypoweredgames.mtvistest&hl=en
Some time ago tatsumaki made a decent virtual gamepad for fpse which got rid of the alignment by incorporating it in the way he/she arranged the buttons and button mask.
No one is going to fix this by a new driver,
End of story.
