Need help with setting up Tasker for Greenify no root - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I don't know if you are familiar with the non root version of greenify, but basically you press the hibernation button and the process goes on by itself.
I tried using tasker to auto hibernate upon display off but it doesn't seem to work. It does indeed start up the hibernation process but it doesn't force close the apps as its intended to do. Can anyone help?

Dumb question, but did you add tasker to the exception list?

Yes I did. I doubt the problem lies within Tasker as such but more the fact that the force closure of apps can't proceed when screen is off. Tasker does its job well.

Make sure u go into accessibility under settings and check the box for tasker if not tasker won't be able to be automatic on stock rom

More than welcome, autorun manager is nice as well but you need the paid version for it to be any use and Gemini does the job so well.

i believe it can also be amended in skype to not auto start or am i missing something?
You can set in the Skype setting, don't tick the automatic.

Skype still has a bad habit of auto starting whenever you receive or make a phone call, signed in or not.
It has TONES of autostart conditions.
Im also looking for the settings so it wont auto start, I cant seem to see it under settings aside from automatically sign in which is already unticked.

You need the reworked SKYPE version hit menu button and option should be there in your face along with exit button.
Note you will have to uninstall original skype before installing the moreworked version. here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16643098#post16643098
If you want to turn off the autostart option do this; disable skype contacts’ sync through Skype settings.

[Q] NFC Task Launcher not disabling Lock screen?

I am using NFC Task Launcher so the NFC tag in my car disables the Lock screen (at least I'm trying to)
It doesn't seem to unlock the phone at all. I'm running the Stock ROM, but am rooted.

It's using the Keyguard API to temporarily hide the lock screen. The lock is released if the app is killed by the system or manually. Any chance this is occurring or you're running anything else memory intensive that may be pushing it out of memory?

I think I found the solution. I think I was sometimes closing the app in the pull down.
Same problem here. I'd be interested to learn your "fix". Thx!

The dismissal of the lock screen is going to be released if the app is killed either by the system or by the user for resources. There's nothing that can be changed right now since it's using the Keyguard API. I'm looking in to alternative solutions to get rid of this but Android isn't especially interested in letting apps get rid of lock screens without a bit of a fight.

I'm exactly with the same problem. I think the best workaround is using llama, that can disable/enable the pin lock in the lockscreen, but not the patter, and it doesn't disable the lockscreen, it switches the security to "slide"
Does anyone know if this can be reached with Tasker? I don't have it and won't buy it just to try it out

S-voice does not open in listening mode

When I say "Hi Galaxy" with the screen off, S-Voice opens, but does not listen until I say the phrase a second time. Has anyone else encountered this? I am rooted, with Xposed installed.
Edit:
I'd really like to get to the bottom of this issue, if someone with some experience could give me some feedback. I believe I first attempted to use S-Voice after rooting with root de la vega. It has never opened in listening mode (launched from app drawer or with the screen off feature), even after upgrading to MJ7 (kept root with survival mode in SuperSU), or flashing Beans Rom in SafeStrap. This has led me to believe this is a hardware or kernel issue, but I'm not the most knowledgeable person about these things. Therefore, any feedback would be much appreciated! TIA
Thank you for your feedback

Update: From what I've seen, when I open S-Voice from the app drawer, it should open in listening mode. Anyone have an idea why mine does not?
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
Update 2: I now use Tasker to close S-Voice when it opens, and start Google Voice Search! Doesn't listen as quickly as the Moto X, takes about 3 seconds, but no complaints here!

I am also having the issue. When I say "Hi Galaxy" or when I just open S Voice it does not open in listen mode. Any ideas?
Same issue here, no luck with clearing data or cash for the app. I'd be fine with the Tasker to Google Search deal but I was having fun with the turning on/off bluetooth and wifi using voice and a few other features S-Voice has, despite being not as reliable. I just went ahead and installed utter to be able to get the functionality of both, but I can't say my battery life is all that great with so many different things going on at once now.

You might not want to close S-voice, but rather just open Google now on top of it. If you close it, I don't think the screen-off "Hi galaxy" command will work next time around.
I have the same issue... Then I realized something. I have Pebble app for my SmartWatch. I disabled the accessibility service for pebble and it works now. So is it pebble or s voice?

Can you share that tasker profile please. I can't use that damn app to save my life. I started using automateit pro because it dumbs it down but that app won't open voice search only the regular Google app.

Create a profile, select application, select S-voice, delect new task, new task, name it .. In the task edit screen, create action, app, load app, and select Voice Search, and don't make any changes in the action edit screen.. make sure it's active on the profile tab, and try it out.. xda has a great tasker tutorial on youtube! Check it out!

I was worried about that when I created that task.. Tasker could not seem to close S-voice so it didn't effect me. When I realized it wasn't closing, I removed that action. I am interested in how the note 3s always listening feature differs from Motos 8x technology. And if Utter! has the potential of being this energy efficient?

There is an app you can install which will allow you to accomplish freezing an application. Check out the following link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ramdroid.appquarantine&hl=en
Hope this helps!
Thanks! But that requires root

Sorry, it's early and I cannot sleep. You are correct, this application requires a device root. To my knowledge, there is no way to freeze or remove an app which has the "disabled" button greyed out without rooting. Maybe someone with more informative knowledge can assist.
If you go to [Settings] > [General] tab > [Application manager] > [All] tab,
you will see all apps in your device. Press anyone. You will find a [Turn off] button which freeze that app.
Please note that some apps cannot be frozen without root. The [Turn off] button will be locked.
But if you rooted your device you can use other application manager apps available on Google Play store to freeze these system apps.
Here are a topic that list all apps that can be frozen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470862
Can't be done without Root access. They're System-apps (even if they are completely pointless.) and thus without Root access you do not have access to modify them.
That said, I could and have disable S Health without root.
Evernote, My Magazine, Samsung Hubs and other such random nonsense I will never use, however....
Okay... Guess I have confirmed...
Sheath is disabled without root on my device too...

Force close issues

Hey everyone, I'm not sure what's going on but every time I hit the options button (the one with the three dots) the app I'm using force closes. Its not the one at the bottom but within the app itself. I tried to send an email and when trying to go to the options to forward etc it crashes and force closes every time. I have downloaded some things but I'm not sure if xposed installer and Wakelock terminator have anything to do with it but I'm about to factory reset my phone unless someone could shed some light on the issue.
Thanks!

Any apps or modifications that you have on your phone may be messing with it. I don't know all of the specifics but I know that after I got xposed a while ago, my lock button suddenly stopped working, and then continued after I uninstalled all of the modifications and xposed. I would only use a factory reset as a failsafe plan.

I'd just titanium backup and factory reset. Or if on a OTA and don't have root, FXZ back to your firmware using keep data or universal.

Reboot your device into safe mode. If it runs fine then you have a rogue app, but if you are experiencing the same problems then do a factory reset.
Safe Mode:
Code:
Power button > Press and hold Power Off > Ok
