Me too, just ordered as a replacement/upgrade to my HD2.
I too can't wait.
then fasten your seat belts and get ready to ruuuummmmmbbbllleee guys . i made the switch from hd2 to note right before Christmas, and can tell u, its simply amazing. after 4 days with the note i hold the hd2 in my hand and think how do i survive the last 2 years with such a small screen....
Welcome abroad HD2 owners, the king has retired GNote is the new king.
add another one
coming from an lg g2x and having family members own the sgs2, im gng 2 have a one up on them, waiting for mine to come today
also coming from an HD2. My note is coming today in the mail!!
Hope it's as great as everyone says!
Ill time in being an x hd2 owner as u can see from my signature
Sent from the HD2's closest replacement, the Samsung Galaxy Note
note is awesome. Basically just like my aunt's samsung galaxy tab, but smaller, and smoother.
Almost too nice to be a phone. Android runs much smoother on the note, then on my HD2. But I do notice the blue hue when scrolling thru internet/photos and stuff. Nothing to return the phone over. And I have NO DEAD PIXELS, which is awesome.
I was a a commited HTC fan and almost bought the HTC Sensation XE but saw the Note previews and bought it because of the screen size, specs and stylus.
I couldn't see anything I wanted more than the HD2 for a long time.
Very happy with the Note.

The Galaxy SIII could also be a worthy replacement for the HD2, but for me, no stylus and a smaller screen.
Yeah, same here. Imo, even the samsung s2 wasn't a true upgrade to the HD2. But this beast definitely is, with the huge screen.
And there probably won't be another phone with these specs for awhile. Too niche of a market imo.
From HTC advantage, HTC HD2, now Note, a little laggy, slower than Mango OS for now. Waiting for ICS to fix the banding on phone and slowness. Oh, and I love the thin light, huge screen of it.

fact is I currently have BOTH phones. I love my Note 2 because of the S-Pen and screen size. I just put a 64gb microsd card in it too. Had it since launch and never felt it was 'too big'. Now I have the HTC One for two days and it is an awesome phone. love the build quality, screen, and form factor. Problem is i do not want to keep two phones, one has to go. I prefer Touchwiz over Sense, but I am an HTC guy coming from an HTC One S, which I absolutely loved. This is a tough decision that is causing great disturbances in the force. I am leaning 52/48 in favor of Note 2. any one else go back to their old phone?
I can tell you one thing;
If you can live without big screen of Note 2, keep One. If you can't, keep Note 2.

Am in the exact same boat , have my One for 4 days now absolutely loving it . Cant decide which one to keep , but leaning towards ONE
If I could live with the size of Note 2, I wouldn't exchange it for any other phone, except Note 3.
Keep both or keep note 2. It might be slightly slower, with lower quality build but the note 2 is the better all-around phone imo. Battery is unbeatable, multitasking is unrivalled
Currently interchangeably using HTC One, BBZ10 and Note 2

size doesnt bother me. i rarely talk on it. note3 rumored to be 6.3 inches i guess if they kept it same size as note 2 but all screen no bezel then i would get it.
looks like i will keep the Note2. i'm too attached to it and for some reason it just 'feels right'.
Either way i am keeping both , just have to make up my mind which one i keep and which one goes to my wife
You'll get used to the size whichever one you use. What you will revel in it's the sound quality of the One, and it's fluidity....and physical feel.

Productivity or Media
Well I have both of these devices as well. I put my Dev Edition One on my personal ATT account and I have the Note 2 on my company VZW account. I find that I use both equally but for very different reasons. I think you need to weigh what is more important to you. They will both suffice for one another just fine, but also have their own strong points.
I use my note almost exclusively for "productivity". I take notes in meetings, I track my lists and tasks, I check my email and do quick web look ups, etc.
I use my One for games, movies, and other media rich activities, and D*MN i love that crisp screen!
I have always carried two phones so that is nothing new for me and I am accustomed to it, but if I had to decide I would really have to think about what I spend more time doing, or which activities I value more....
Hope that helps!
I have both. I chose my HTC. Not regretting it one bit.
I love the camera on the One. It remembers settings and has much better focus than my note (I'm a photographer).
Size of One is perfect for me. I had an iPhone 5 as well but it was just too small. The HTC feels like a proper sized iPhone.

I have both phones and I will choose the HTC One with no doubt! The Note 2 is an awesome phone but for me the One beats it in many things..
Never been a fan of huge screens, the One screen size is the max for me, it's smoother and faster than the note, better audio, better screen resolution (crisper), incredible build quality, I love what HTC have done with Sense 5 and never been fan of Touchwizz, and finaly I Love the camera.
Love everything about this phone, and maybe my opinion is a little bit subjective but let me tell you that I used many Galaxy phones (S1, S2, S3, Note1, Note2), indeed they are excellent phones, but I have never found the quality (in hardware and software) that I find in HTC phones, especially in the HTC One..
Hope it helps
I have both too.
Have a Note 2 on my primary contract, and recently upgraded my secondary backup to the One. This week, I swapped SIMs so I could try out the One as my daily driver.
I really do like the One as a phone, but these days the phone part is a lesser part of my usage.
With that in mind, I will probably swap back shortly for 5 reasons:
1. Battery life. Note 2 is better and replaceable.
2. MicroSD. I keep a lot of video and music on my Note 2.
3. Fitbit. Note 2 syncs with my Fitbit One.
4. Video codecs. Stock videoplayer on the Note 2 plays everything I throw at it.
5. Larger screen. Just better for video.
That being said though, I adore the look and feel of the One, so I expect to carry both devices frequently (compared to my previous backup), and perhaps swap SIMs often too.
I had originally planned to upgrade my secondary line to an S4, but I'm happy I chose the One because I don't think the S4 offers anything compelling over the Note 2.
Regards,
Dave

Honestly now, who really uses the S Pen on a regular basis? And for what functionality?

I use mine regularly to scratch the insides of my ears. Beats having to carry q-tips!
I use daily for typing, scrapbook, action memo and pen window. I love the pen improvements over note 2

I am now trying to use it for typing (writing). I like the browsing better with pen than fingers, actually, because I always keep the Desktop version of the pages and click with SPen is way more accurate.
I don't know, though, if I will keep doing forever. Have had the phone only for 6 days.
Samsung Slate 7 pen with erase button
Mostly I use an external S-pen from my Samsung Slate 7 win 7 tablet or the internal pen but nearly never my fingers, and not only because the pen does not smear the screen. I bought the Note 2 and 3 only for the pen support as tablet and don't have a sim inside. As phone my wife and I use a Samsung 5722 Dual-Sim cell phone which can last up to a week, to avoid beeing out of battery when we use the Note extensively.
Handwriting recognition is faster then typing and as good as my Samsung Slate 7 win 7 tablet. The erase function is supporte n Note 2 and 3, but requires the erase button on the opposite site of the pens writing tip. Thats why I have a spare pen from my Samsung Slate 7 win 7 tablet right next to my writing pen.
Besides typing and notes taking and small drawings I use it also to scratch my nose.
I take all my work meeting notes etc. on it at meetings. This is a major reason I got it. If you use a normal phone people think you are texting etc. With the pen people can see you are taking notes, setting up appointments, creating tasks, etc. Then you can do multi window and do some surfing in the top while you do all this.
I have the Note 3 and the Note 10.1. I won't own any other type of device anymore because I use the pen so much. It is a game changer for me. I think it may be a bigger thing for business and education, and not as much for everyday consumer.
l agree Spen is a game changer
Sent from Note 3 (The beauty & beast)
Not as often as often as I'd like to.
Swype is faster than writing with the pen.
Most webpages are mobile device friendly. Meaning buttons are late enough to press with a finger. Same goes to the android OS.
It's like WinMo 5 or 6 that absolutely required you to use a pen to do regular menial tasks.

+1 to the above plus I haven't touched the phone with finger since I bought it.

I use it 95% of the time. For anything: Writing, drawing, general control...
I'm a Wacom Intuos4 user, which I often use instead of a mouse on my laptop, so the Spen feels natural to me.
Bonus, I can eat a sandwich and still use my phone. Also, no smudges on my lovely screen when watching a film in HD
I use it alot ....

+1 to the "+1." If it weren't for S Pen/S Note I'd most likely have a LG G2. I have about 100 items in various scrapbooks, tons of S Notes, I use the pen for entering text unless I'm "moving" where I'll use the keyboard, I use it capture items from e-mail, MMS, and the web to either save or forward, and the list goes on. I've been doing this since the Note II/Note 10.1 and now have a N3 and am getting a 3G Note 10.1 2014. Samsung's said 60% of Note-series buyers use the S Pen daily. It's fantastic for productivity users and creatives.

I wish I had a bit of creativity in me or design ability eh eh I am In graphic art business but totally on prepress and IT side. My wife grabs my N3 and is sketching, drawing etc. She is an iPhone 4s user but it's like a Mickey maous in comparison with N3 and slowly I change her lol. I believe this day next year I will be with N4 and she will have my N3.

I use it to:
Take notes, mostly in meetings etc.
Occasionally I'll use the action note to set a task for myself, although without a sync, tasks are a bit lame.
Some games are better with a pen.
I find myself opening the calculator in a window quite often now, much more than I used to when you were forced full screen.
Handwriting recognition is pretty amazing
The handwriting recognition is pretty amazing. (If yours isn't working, install the Stylus Beta app). using teh stylus, click on the small stylus icon on the top left of any text input area.
Works in German too.
MyScript Calculator (from the Stylus Beta people) is an great calculator that uses handwriting recognition
Just a few...:good:
today I accompanied my elderly mom to the Doctor and as he was rambling off all these Medical terms I whipped out the ole S-pen and created a Action Memo to capture the Dr's instructions.
A similar incident a few days earlier I was outside at a weekend fair...and the nurse called me with important info...I could barely hear with all the noise but put my phone on speaker, jotted down a contact name and phone number on Action Memo. Later I converted that to a contact..JUST like the commercials!
I used the s-pen a few days ago to draw my home's basement layout for some design work and square footage calculation. Very helpful when showing the flooring salesperson.
Also working on a small business adventure and the S-pen is very handy to sketch out my initial product designs thoughts.
Actually s pen is the only reason why I am using note series. I am also learning to sketch so s pen is really helping me out. Taking notes with s pen daily is also making life easier. If you look at software design structure of note 3, samsung want us to use s pen all the time.

I sign PDF docs on the fly, using Repligo Reader from the store.
I rarely used the S-pen in my Note 1. Just taking screenshots and writing notes on it, or clipping parts of screens. I didn't like the horrible handwriting recognition it had.
Note 3 on the other hand, I use the Spen regularly for Action Memo and hand writing. The hand writing recognition is brilliant in Note 3. Jotting down a date/time and converting it into an appointment. Jotting down an address then searching it on Google maps.
I have a stock Galaxy S4 google edition.
I drove from Chicago to Philadelphia and used the phone as GPS via Google navigation. I was connected to LTE from T-Mobile.
After I arrived and reboot the phone it stopped getting mobile network (no bars), cannot make any calls and GPS cannot fix the location anymore (in fact gps icon doesn't appear anymore when I run google maps).
The sim card works fine, as I checked it at T-Mobile office and I do have a valid plan and etc.
I tried factory reset, via settings and via boot menu, but nothing changed.
Luckily google agreed to send a replacement.
Did anyone have this kind of issue before?

Although im a samsung owner but I believe that its not a quality devices, I owned 5 HTC devices before the S4 and I can tell you that compared to samsung htc seems like a real genuine device, I just bought the S4 for the smart/air stuff as a change, its a good device but no quality whatsoever

Not sure why you think that Samsung devices are low quality, if you are thinking because its plastic feels cheap then I disagree with you. I had many friends using Samsung devices such as the S3 and Note 2 and fewer friends owning HTC devices. However, my Samsung friends except for one whose phone cannot switch on for no reason had no problems with their phones. However for my HTC friends, one of them who just used his phone barely 1/2 year is having problems with his power button. The other also had problems with his power button and recently his LCD just refused to switch on.
As for me myself, I owned S1, S3 and now S4 and I had no problems with any of the devices. All of them are still working perfectly. I also owned a LG Nexus 4. That device feels more "expensive" than any Samsung devices. It feels more solid but however just using it like 2 months. The power button spoilt. Then I fixed it myself and about 6 months later, the touchscreen's digitizer starts to spoilt and due me giving up that phone for an S4.
This is my second Galaxy S4 GE btw. The first one had a malfunctioning proximity sensor. Basically when you make a phone call holding a phone on a distance, the screen goes black immediately. I returned it to google for a replacement too.
Hi guys anyone know any way to replace ther swipe up motion to launch "regular" flipboard vs the my magazine version?
I have used flipboard regularly for a long time now, and have been accustomed to flipping sideways vs vertically,
plus "regular" flipboard's layout if much nicer to quickly find news stories.
Thanks!
I wondered the same. Maybe with root.
Nova Launcher can easily do it in the Nova Launcher settings.

I'm working off of Apex right now, and sometimes Themer. There are some aspects of Nova I like and some I don't. I use Nova on my Note 10.1 - works better there than on my phone, for me.
Tasker can do it, I think, but I haven't been able to make it work, yet. I'm a work in progress.
Apex can launch Flipboard on a swipe up. Go to gestures in Apex menu. Select swipe up. Then pick launch app.
