I got my Transformer yesterday and I'm loving it! However I have some problems with getting VPN to work with country specific websites like my company's portal and bbc iplayer. I'm in cyprus for holidays and I cannot use any of these websites. I successfully created a vpn connection with my UK server but it seems that the browser doesnt use the vpn connection. When I navigate to findmyip.com it tells me that the ip is the wifis ip instead of the one provided by the vpn connection. This works well with my android phone so its a bit strange that it doesn't work with my tablet. Any ideas on what's going wrong?
idk my VPN works just fine.
I use OpenVPN and everything has been smooth. Not sure how default would work though.
You have tot tell your device to "se the remote (vpn endpoint) gateway. How you do this depends on what software you use.
Can someone put some more details about issues and if they are easy to resolve?
I live in Poland and I use VPN to watch Netflix / Hulu / ABC in US and BBC iPlayer (+ live channels), 4oD and ITV Player in UK.
So, VPN is kinda important to me
At the moment on iPad I do not have any issues.
Do you guys know: if Netflix app for HC will be available in USA can users from different parts of the world get it (easily) as well? With iPad all I had to do was to create account in US iTunes Store...
ok so certain wifi access points blocks some of my games. well not just me but anyone.
but there are a few games that work with no problem ie Enemy lines.
I was wondering if there was some way to change the network access for the applications.
using vpn service does not work.
nevermind figured it out. need a full tunnel vpn.
Droidvpn...give a try
Anyone know if there is a vpn that works on nexus player yet? One that doesn't keep logs.
Yup. IPVanish doesn't keep logs and their Android app works on the Nexus Player.

I use PIA, I sideloaded the app on my Nexus Player, and it works fine, just don't try to use Netflix when connected to VPN, because it won't work. Apparently it's an issue with android, not Netflix.
The sideloaded "normal" Netflix app works with VPN, but it crashes if you try and click e.g. the subtitle button.
Bump
Any new VPN for the Nexus Player?
Thanks!
i tried Hotspot shield VPN Elite , connect OK , i open netflix , loads a long time, i can see the foreign Catalog , but when i tried to see anything popup a message that i using a Proxy server. D4MN!!
I use unlocator. It costs money and not free, but Is stable and reliable. It's configured on my home network and the NP works great with it (I use netflix, Pandora, bt, espn, bbc iplayer, nba...)
Anyone try sideloading expressvpn on nexus player?
I sideloaded F-Droid and I was able to install regular ol' OpenVPN for Android, which is supported by most if not all providers, including those that don't log.
Since NP is going to be tied to your home network, you really should consider implementing your VPN at the ROUTER level, not on your NP.
Hey guys, I need VPN client for Nexus Player connection to other private server through PPTP (not public service, just private with custom IP, login/pass). And problem that router without VPN connection support, so I need it on the device. Any suggestions?

I use PIA on mine. Sideloaded, sits sideways, guess you could fix that with some rotation app. Anyways I can connect with my remote and set it up to auto connect when I open it, I disconnect with my remote.

If I right understand what does you mean, this is third party service, isn't it? But I need direct connection to my own VPN server with PPTP.
Is there way to access inbuilt vpn settings or 3rd party app to enter own/custom vpn settings?
I have the nvidia android tv and I also have a pptp security premium vpn service with Anonvpn.io a lifetime subscription in fact.My problem is this system seems to be missing the vpn settings pane to be able to connect to it,any idea how I may be able to accomplish this, but please could it be a bit layman as i have issues with my learning. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me succeed or just help in general.
I solved this,Anonvpn.io now use the open vpn connect app to setup using downloaded vpn profiles to use it,I have my subscription now working. They have toronto seattle miami new york frankfurt and uk servers to choose from, high bandwith connections one I used and tested on ethernet stated 78mbps.
I have a VPN server set up at my house on an old XP machine for one reason, so i can connect to it for various media providers that require you to be home to use their full service. This works perfectly with the built in android VPN on my phone but I was hoping there was a VPN app I can install on my firestick, every vpn app i found is one that uses its own servers, I just need one like the basic VPN setup in android that you can use a PPTP server with a username and password?
open Vpn , i used it for pptp server on my firestick gen 2. Might be worth looking into. Best of luck =)

Can you elaborate more on this? The gen 2 stick, did you need to root it to make it function as a server? I've been looking everywhere for info to make firestick a vpn server.
Sorry this is mega late, I just installed open vpn to the stick and put in the info.
