Been a while since I've gotten into the root game. I'm back into an S4! So what do you guys think are the best apps I should download?? And what do they do?
Thanks in advance!!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Each app is different as are people's tastes in apps. You will have to decide what you need/want. Best app/ROM threads are not really allowed on XDA. You are required to research and find what you should use.

Like what was mentioned, be careful not to ask questions with "best mods/tools/apps/elephants/bananas for the <insert phone model here>". Mods won't like it.
However, these two forums should be able to help you:
1. General
2. App Dev
... and Google of course. Good luck.
Oh okay. Thanks alot guys for the positive feedback. I'll take a look.

If you have to ask this question why did you root in the first place? I ask that in all seriousness. You're risking bricking your device by rooting if you mess something up, why would you take that risk if you're not sure what root does.
pguillory -
The question you should ask is "Do I need root and what would I use it for?"
My easy first answer:
Titanium Backup.
ES File Explorer
(BTW, there really is very little risk bricking it if you use the easy method. Search forum for the thread.)

all i said is : how in earth he doesn't know root means ? if he doesn't know means he shouldn't go for it right
he must read and read and do some more read and then he'll know the answer by himself .... or at least search , because this question answered for many many times ago

Ok buddy.. All I'm saying is if he took the time he used to make this thread to read stickies, root guides and the q&a section he would be more prepared to mess around with his device with less risk of breaking it.
There is enough good threads with good knowledge that if he spent time in looking would be fine

Welcome to the n7 forum, and boy what a welcome...... Unless you are comfortable with sending commands via adb use one of the root kits, they offer more than just rooting.
Not to many roms or mods to choose from, but everybody has that there on taste.
Like offers have said search and read, then ask in those threads if unsure.

wow, what a messed up welcome. this IS the Q&A section. We all have been new, most of us has messed up, even following directions.
So, Did your N7 arrive yet?
CleanRom is one of my favorites when I feel like running a custom ROM. Im back to 4.2.1 at the moment.
I think WUG's toolkit is pretty easy for a beginner.
If you really want to play though, learn how to use adb. It may be a learning curve for some, but its really easy and fast.
Of course, search is always your friend, but most of us will still be here to help out if you need it!
Enjoy the Nexus, its a blast!
Patience people .he is a virgin !!!!
Welcome to xda Nexus 7 forum and (i guess ) Newbie Target practice Zone.
I think the biggest advice anyone can give you. Is something people do not often say. Before you flash unlock root or change one app on your device. Learn the STEPS TO GO BACK. Make all the necessary backups. Follow all instructions. But only after you understand what they are doing to your device. Read The forums about the different roms . Especially user responses and comments on the different roms.
Most of all Learn your device . Learn recoverys and basic fast-boot and adb..
Backup Backup and know how to use your backup...
NOT TO MENTION BACKUP
again welcome to the fourm and please Backup read re read.. then think before you flash.
Erica Renee ..:silly:
He's right. What's good for some may not be good for others. I'll suggest a few things. Keep in mind these are what I prefer:
Mskips Toolkit. I love it. User friendly and easy to navigate even if you're not familiar with rooting. Offers an all in one option (option 8) that unlocks the bootloader, roots, installs busy box, installs your choice of custom recovery, and will recommend the 3.34 boot loader instead of using the built in supplied by Google. 3.34 keeps root more reliably than others for some. Its compatible with all versions, it will buy you dinner, and kiss you goodnight.
Again, my preference but I've had nothing but success with Mskips work.

Root your phone and run greenify. It is worth it if you want good battery life. That is one of the best apps out today.

I dont really want to root. I think the phone itself is pretty snappy and unlike 99% of the people on this forum I do actually like TW and a lot of the gimmicky features. I find some to actually be useful. I'll probably root after I get bored. The only thing I missed from having a rooted phone was tethering for free but foxfii is the perfect answer for that. Thats why I was asking for specifically unrooted phones. But thanks for your responses.

I've had this phone for about two weeks and I'm still on stock but rooted, no custom recovery, yet. I like TW as well, that's why I got this phone. I rooted to get rid of some bloat and for greenify. In the long run you would be happier.

rooting by itself won't remove touchwiz. it merely gives you more control over your phone and allows you to improve it as you wish.
Has anyone OTA'd to MF9, rooted and then wanted to reset flash counter and unroot? If so, has anyone tried to do so and found that they are having major issues doing so? Let me know what the problems are and if there is Want/Need for a tutorial. I also want to know if anyone e has had any issues doing so just in case problems are isolated to just me or not. I have successfully done this many times myself to ensure safety and all 5 times have been the exact same way and haven't been able to do it any other way. Please do not remove until we figure out if a tutorial is Wanted/Needed. Thank you.

Well, the reason being in Dev. is due to this where it needs to be if/when posted and Q/A is not where someone is going to look for this type of tutorial. It is a very fragile process the way I have to go about it and do not want to have issues ALL over to be honest.

You have your reason and XDA has our reasons. Development is for development and Q and A is for questions. Simple as that. That won't change. And we are not going to follow your reasoning. The point being follow XDA rules and not your own here please. I had already moved this to Q and A by the time you posted your above response BTW...
That's fine. No need to be rude, just move it and done. I was giving my reasons as to why I posted it, not trying to justify. Keep it calm and friendly here, plain and simple.

Hi, I want to buy LG G2 soon, now I'm on HTC One X, and things are little bit different out there if it goes to rooting etc. I guess. So here is my questions:
1.I want to buy phone without any carrier, clean phone from the shop, is there will by a way to root this, because in the forum I see many carriers phone like AT&T, Verizon etc.?
2.Can I root device and than unroot it without any trace to keep my warranty?
3. And can I flash another ROM, Mods etc. and than go back to stock without a trace to keep my warranty?
What's stopping you from reading and getting your answer instead of posting something that's been posted like 10 times already?

Isn't Q&A section is for questions? If you don't want to help just don't write at all...
For me simple yes or no for my questions will be ok, so I don't have to dig thru all threads, I don't need instructions I can find them myself, but if somebody give me those answers I will know what to look for exacly, and will know that it make sense to look for it
The problem is you are littering the forum with a redundant question and then rules state to READ AND SEARCH BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD.
