[Q] Can't flash any rom using CyanogenDefy? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there. First of all I am a noob when it comes to flashing custom ROMs. Q&As and Guides didn't help me...
I have a Defy + MB526 , rooted ( flashed sbf because I have bl7). Stock 2.3.6
I have installed latest 2nd init using the apk.
USB debugging enabled.
The problem is that I can't flash any zip from CyanogenDefy custom recovery( Accessed using android bootmenu at reboot).
I've wiped everything before trying to flash Cm 10.2 JB. It says error 7 installation aborted every time. I did try a bunch of other versions and roms.
I created a nandroid backup using the custom recovery but I couldn't use it to recover, first because of a md5 mismatch (which I fixed) and then because of another error at the end ( some stuff couldnt be recovered). When I boot up I can't open any app, it says " Application not installed". I've tried using the 2GB card that came with the phone, same thing happens. I ended up erasing everything
What am I doing wrong? Please help me
This is ny first android phone, never installed any custom ROM before but I read its harder for the Defy though.

Come on, 60 views and no replies? Any help would be very appreciated!

Hello, thanks for your reply.
I did root my phone about 2 years ago, but good to know such an app exists.
I didn't open the archives, I just pasted it on my phone's SD card. I did try again by formatting the card inside the phone and re downloading. Same thing happens.

SD Card does work fine.
In the meantime, I tried flashing a rom again. This time I get error status 0;
After that I've successfully flashed the latest twrp, wiped, tried to install but still status 0.
I'm trying to install the MoKee rom.
EDIT:
I tried installing CM 10.2.
I get the same errors like for MoKee:
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 0)
*Verifying filesystems...
*Verifying partition sizes...
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/cm-10.2-20131020-NI

you dont need a toolkit. download your rom to your phone, then boot into your custom recovery and flash it in your custom recovery. wipe data before you flash if its a new rom.
I had similar problem but I found out I had verify signature checked once I unchecked it it was OK ...I hope you get it sorted out:thumbup:

[Q] Last version of CM10.1 for defy (mb525)

Hello,
I own a defy mb525 with CM7.2.0. I am not so happy with this version (bad 3g access; battery life very short)
So I decided to install the CM10.1.
On the develloper page I saw that the status has been updated on the 26.03. But if I look for my model (mb525), I can find only a version dated on the 120904.
Is there a newer version for the mb525 or is it only for the mb520 and mb526 ?
Regards

--> FAQ2
It should work for both. Same as latest builds of CM10.

First of all, none of you guys ever read the stickies. It is packed with good info.
Our phone has a locked bootloader, it is almost impossible to brick.
Download latest CM10 and then install.
Ive come across a newbi problem im on the link of the latest cm10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702) and the file I try to flash wont install it gets aborted, I searched the forms for other cm10 and same issue file gets aborted.
If possible to be directed to the file I need to flash to cm10
not easy being newbi these days :crying:

out of curiousity, i restored my mb525 back to cm7 nightly 20111201 nandroid, which has cwm v5.0.3.2. i did not check the bootmenu version but it should be the same as yours. then, after formatting system/cache partitions, i flashed cm-10-20130918-nightly-mb526.zip, and it worked.
so i don't really know what's wrong with your phone, but i have a couple of suggestions for you to try. not that there's any logical explanations but try it anyway:
1. according to the error messages, you have the cm10 rom in the root folder of the sdcard. try creating a sub-folder called cm10 and copy the cm10 rom and the minimal gapps into it.
2. download the defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and defy_fullwipe_ext3.zip ( for later use, when you want to revert back your rom) from here and put them in cm10 folder as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
3. reboot into recovery but don't do any format or wipe. instead flash the file defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and this will format your partitions into the ext4 file system.
4. then flash the cm10 rom. if it installs sucessfully, then without any further wiping, nor flashing the minimal gapps, reboot the phone. (note that the os will reboot once more in the middle of booting up, seemingly having a bootloop problem. don't worry it's meant to do that, unless it rebooted more than once)
5. if it boots up sucessfully, do some basic set up first before rebooting back into recovery to flash the minimal gapps.
alternatively you could try flashing cm9.1 (ext3) to get a newer bootmenu and cwm versions before flashing cm10. no need to flash any gapps, just wipe system/cache partitions and flash the cm9.1 rom by itself. reboot into cm9.1, do basic set up. once it's ready reboot into recovery and do the above steps, starting from step 3, to flash cm10.
good luck.....
edit: did you get your cm10 rom from here:

I did try using that link but the files still would abort when flashing, also tried http://d-h.st/users/Quarx files it did the same thing
I followed your instruction but decided to goto cm 9 first I flashed the (ext3) file it installed and cm9.1 installed also installed twrp with no issues but when I was going through cm9 and its functions I couldent go on line a popup message (Unfortunately, brower has stopped) also I wasn't able to log on google play a pop up message (Unfortunately, com. google android.gb has stopped). so I got fed up and decided to goto cm10.1 so I first flashed with ext4.zip it installed and then tried to flash 10.1 file once again the file wouldn't install it gave me aborted file message again. I had no choice to reboot and I had to reinstall the factory file(brick). I am now back to where I started :silly: cm7 2.3.7 its been a hell of a weekend ........... ill give it another shot soon :fingers-crossed:

Two choices (of many) but first, try flashing twrp, then try the rom. Or re-flash cwm and try again.

At first try flashing latest twrp img from fastboot mode and then try flashing the rom again.
You might want to give a try to the multi-rom twrp.
If it fails again you can always flash factory img.

Right now that sounds more appealing to me than trying to figure all of this our to be honest.

[Q] LG P700 custom roms problem

Hi guys,
I have tried to install to my p700 new kitkat custom rom, but every time i install it, it says: e: cannot write to /sdcard/clockworkmod/.last install_path.....
i have tried to make clockworkmod folder and put rom and GAPPS in there, i have tried, cyanogenmod, prime mod, slimkat and some other i dont remember... i also try not to care about that message and just rebooted to system, but it stays in boot loop.
I am starting to feel this phone hates me because i cannot install anything to this phone, i ever "accidentally" was able to install 4.3 cyanogenmod, but it started to be so laggy and my wife got frustrated with it...
Any ideas?
EDIT: my cwm is latest phillz

put rom and gapps in sd card wherever and install, what the **** where you trying to do?
ok, so i have tried to install many different kitkat roms to my p700 but all of those installs ends to an error: e: cannot write to /sdcard/clockworkmod/.last install_path.
If i just ignore that and reboot to system it just stays in boot loop.
edit: after install it say install complete but then there is that error too

i already got it working, but now i got new problem
installing many many roms and formatting and clearing everything has destroyed my IMEI, now i just try to find some help how to install my phone imei

Help a n00b there please :o3

Hey, look what i've done while desperately trying to install GearCM or CM12 ROM. First, i installed TWRP on my i9500 device. After that, i put the GearCM 5.1 and Gapps for 5.1 on sdcard, but i got mad really fast when i saw i can't install ANY ZIP from sdcard, then tried another CUSTOM ROMS, same problem, i wiped cache and system ( ye, system ) ) - dont ask why i did that - Anyway, now i have no system files on phone, and on my sdcard i only got that useless ZIPs.
Ah, forgot to mention, the error showing up everytime i tried to install a zip was : "Zip corrupted, Operation aborted" (something like that ).
NOTE : I can't boot normally, but i can boot in recovery (TWRP) . I can't flash another rom using odin as i can't switch usb debugging ON.
Ah, please, don't laugh too much, im pretty serious
Oh, some1 explain this to me -> I tried to install zip @ adb as i saw explained on a blog -> got stuck at recognizing phone-pc due to driver error, so i decided to try last time installing the custom ROMs( THE SAME ZIPs i got error before) from recovery -> install zips. AND GUESS WHAT, less than 20s rom is installed without any errors, i dont know if to be mad or happy. Atleast explain me what happened there.

*stare and laughing a lot*
*Just kidding, okay? :silly: *
And then;
You have corrupted zips. You need to redownload the package completely (ROM+GApps) and transfer it to your external SD card and flash. You can transfer the downloaded zips by using adb push command or remove your external SD card and plug it to anything else (read: SD card reader; of course ).

Yeah, maybe im not exactly as n00b as you think. I used exactly the same zips after(same procedure tho), and it worked smooth(i didn'teven touch them).
NOTE : I think i said i tried using adb to install zips but i got a driver error which i couldn't solve.
I've had that issue for some time especially with CM, have you tried verifying the sh1 checksum once you've loaded it onto your sd card?
Thanks.
