Recently, my camera is failing to save any image that is taken. I've tried every camera app I could find and several different roms including fission 2.4.3 and gummyjar 2.5
Can anyone help me with this? Any help is greatly appreciated
The problem started after I updated from fission 2.2.2 to 2.3.1. I posted the problem on their board and I got no response

Does your other media work like camcorder, music, etc?
The camcorder doesn't work. Most video playback works, but youtube doesn't. I don't use my phone for music, so I don't know about that.

99% sure you need to update your system. I hate to be a jerk, but this question is asked often. Therefore, I'm going to default to: search is your friend (Google or forum).

Does updatimg the system mean updating the kernal? Iv tried some research n I dont understand the benift, aLso, to update the kernal do u just install the zip under bootlaoder?
Have you messed with the DCIM folder on your SD card? Such as opened it and accidenctly sorted by date or size? I did that once and my cam wouldn't save a pic...let a lone even open the app. So I hooked my phone to computer and ascended the date from old to newest. meaning the newest pic was at the bottom of the folder. unhooked and rebooted phone and all was fine... just my two...
I can't seem to find a solution to my problem. Please see attachment. Basically, I cannot use my camera or gallery because of a No External Storage Available message. I wanted to take pictures and clips over the holiday period (I haven't got a proper camera)... I would be very grateful for any help! Cheers!:fingers-crossed:
It would help if you attached a screenshot of your Storage screen in Settings. That will show what is available and what is used. Perhaps we can find your memory hog.

Your images folder might have been deleted or is corrupted, maybe a cause for gallery and your camera not finding it.

Hi! No, it's the 8GB model, one of the very first batch...
I may very well have deleted the image folder when I was having problems with the update to 4.2. It would be great if you could tell me where to put it back (under pictures?) and what to name it. Thanks!

Is the path mine uses on stock 4.2.1. You might want hook it up to a computer to find it unless you have a file manager.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
Oh, using ES File Explorer I can see that I have this folder, and I even have some pictures in it taken before the 4.2 update. For some reason my camera and gallery can't access it. Any ideas?

have you tried using other cameera applications or quickpic and if so what were the results?
Maybe try to empty the folder onto your pc,maybe it is set to only use so much of the memory.
I have never used my camera so I can only make suggestions.
Sorry I cant help more.

go into apps in settings and clear galarys data and cache, force stop it to.
if all elce fails you could fastboot flash 4.2.1, after backing everything up with titanium backup.

I found that in my phone the other day too. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't really do anything.
Could be a log file. I'm not sure what it is. I would scan again once it appears. Not sure if it is I needed file or not. I don't have a nex 4 but was looking into getting one that's why I'm at the forum.
You can try sd maid which has a system cleaner. Or change the files permissions if you are worried about it transmitting data. But I wouldn't mess with it too much until you figure out what it is.

You guys could wipe your sdcard with twrp if you are worried, but back up all your wanted sdcard data to a computer first. And then put it back on right after. I do that with my Nexus 7 sometime. Not sure if it is the same process on Nex4. It may not be necessary, not sure.

IF they were on your external SD you can use a recover app like recuva or similar to attempt to recovery them. JUST don't write ANYTHING to it till you've attempted a few recoveries.
Can also use testdisk and photrec on linux
You can always just break up if not. Might be easier software way..
Good luck.

Have you had any luck recovering those deleted photos?
I had success useing "disk digger" it recovered 2500 photos. (accidentally deleted a album) roughly 650 of them were corrupted but it was still a success most of them were salvaged.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I used Sandisk RescuePro and it worked great for a microSD card. The key to recovering lost photos is to not shoot any more pics or format i.e. the less you write to the card the better your chances of recovery.
For things stored on your phone, try Disk Digger that 'Menance_69' mentioned or checkout Undelete For Root Users (as the name implies it's only for rooted devices). Hope this helps.
Re: Lost pictures help please
See, now a days so many data recovery tools are available on internet to help you out from this kind of situation. Some days ago I found one tool named as Remo Recover and it fascinated me with its qualities.

Yes it definitely worked and yeah I recovered over 2500 aswell and I deleted an album that I had 250 pictures of me and my gf if only seen her once cause long distance me in usa and her in canada so after deleting it by accident you could of guess how I felt anyway some were corrupted but still backed up most even pictures I deleted like year ago by accident as well. It's just amazing how I got everything back and thanks so much to @leaderbuilder

congrats, man! one thing you could do, too, is get a free dropbox account, and install the app. it will automatically backup all your photos onto your dropbox account as you take pictures. definitely saved me more times than i can count.
for other people's reference, there's also an app called DiskDigger that you can run from your phone that does the same thing as programs mentioned in other posts.

I noticed this when browsing through my videos on mx player. I've never known it to be found here, let alone twice. Easiest way to explain it would be to just look at the screens. Anyone else have this issue?

that 'media-rw' folder you have has symlink(s) to the storage(or mnt) directories.
Like a shortcut to a directory.
That makes sense. I was thinking it was a shortcut. So, two things I think it could be is either folder mount, or Google+ backup. I didn't notice it before either of these, but I've since turned off backup. It's slightly annoying since all folders duplicate within my video player.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
So I'm going to do a backup and delete those shortcuts, see what complains about it. Anyone know?
