Looking for a rooted stock bell i337m 4.2.2. Firmware I can't seem to locate one. I can get the stock firmware from sammobile.com but I don't have a PC to re-root my i337m so if someone knows where I can get one would be great thanks.

So did you start off on 4.2 or 4.3 from stock? I think they have different bootloaders... so I am not sure if you can go to a 4.2 rom.... you show ask before you flash... just to be on the safe side.... and nand what you currently have before hand so you have a chance to at least go back....

There are mixed views on the free unlock.... I did perform it on my s3 and it seemed to work but some say the phone can actually get damaged doing the free thing on the s4... i can't do mine because I went to 4.3 before rooting... if I do unlock I just plan to go to one of the case kiosks in the mall... some of those guys offer unlock for $20.... although I am not sure they can do it on a custom rom... read a lot before you go a head....

I don't know... they must have access to unlock codes I guess... I don't think I have seen a dev here that has offered unlock. I would think at least 1 of them would have developed it if it was possible...the free unlock is accessing the service menu, I would think there would be some kind of flashy thing if it was a dev thing... or build it into a rom or something.... I am not sure it is possible program to program this....

The companies where you pay take the IMEI to generate an unlock code, but I'm not sure how and they don't release their methods in order to generate revenue. You should be able to unlock yours the same way as I337 users, by flashing an older modem (make sure it's an i337m modem and not an i337 one) and then using either RegionLock Away or flashing one old enough to give access to the service menu.

[Q] 4.3 update

sorry if this is an old question.
well im using an sgh i337 at&t,
im in 4.2.2 MF3, it's rooted an using safestrap
my problem is that whenever i try to flash a 4.3 TW rom
(Goldeneye) in another rom slot, it just seems its not working, is not even booting. i also tried flashing an aosp based room. p.a.c or dirty unicorn rooms, same result.
so i just saw a post saying at&t has 4.3 since november 13, i would like to know how to get it. i mean, maybe im doing something wrong with safestrap. what if i try ota upgrading and it briks my phone? i dont even know if 4.3 worths loosing my root, which i dont know if i could achieve to use in 4.3
so resumeing my questions are.
am i missunderstanding safestrap flashing procedures?
is there a root for 4.3?
how can i get 4.3 for my phone? (safestrap room, odin upgrade, ota upgrade)
is there a custom recovery for 4.3?
any help please?
AT&T pulled the 4.3 update to smooth out some "issues." ETA for the re-released update is anyone's guess but will probably happen "soon."
You can only use TouchWiz-based 4.2.2 ROMs on MF3 with Safestrap.
I'd never flash anything more recent than MF3 if you have any desire to ever run custom ROMs or unlock the bootloader. This is pretty much the rule of thumb with any new release with a locked bootloader.
It's a safe assumption each new release from AT&T will only lock this phone down *more.* Unless Samsung comes up with an official bootloader unlock process similar to HTC, it will only get harder to customize the phone after an upgrade.

Returning to stock australian 9505

Hey guys was hoping to get a little help. I am currently running foxhound 4.1 on my S4. The baseband version is I9505XXUFNA5. Its OS 4.4.2. In the process of flashing this rom according to the instructions on the dev thread said i had to flash a different bootloader and modem before flashing the rom. This process worked fine and i have been running without issue. Work has now decided that they want everyone on Android 4.3 so we can use apps they made to make our job easier so i need to go back to 4.3. I attempted this last night and when i try to flash a 4.3 rom via cwm it returns an error saying that the bootloader is the incorrect one and fails and i have to reinstall foxhound again to make the phone usable. Any one know how i go about getting back to 4.3 or where to get the correct bootloader and modem so i can flash them via odin and then install Androind 4.3? Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Jeff
Nobody can downgrade from 4.4.2
WTF really?? Cant i flash 4.3 bootloader and modem and then go back to 4.3?

Nope not at this stage cannot downgrade to older bootloader, sorry.
The best you can do is install a 4.3 custom rom. Try an echoe rom, version 12.1 the final bean I think should do.

[Q] ASOP Looking rom with touchwiz kernel

Hello all,
I picked up a Galaxy S4 when ATnt discounted a "certified new" off contract device for $190 a few weeks back.
I upgraded it from my nexus 4 and well.. I just prefer the look of stock android, however the better screen, battery life and LTE are great reasons to upgrade.
I was wondering if there was a 4.4.2 KitKat rom for this device ( SGH-i337 ) that will resemble the look and feel of my Nexus4.
My device has the latest bootloader so the LOKI method will not work
Thanks for the input.
EDIT: my device is rooted with safestrap installed on the latest OTA

I would also keep an eye on Eclipse rom. It is the only Touchwiz/AOSP hybrid rom that actually has an authentic AOSP pull-down and notification. It also has a whole bunch of AOSP stuff. The kitkat version of the rom will be released soon I think.

Make sure you follow the instructions from this thread.
Scroll down the the 4.4.2 rom section and there is a step by step how-to.
More importantly, make sure you're installing only Touchwiz-based roms, since you're bootloader locked and on safestrap.

Can I install cm 11 or a stock kitkat rom that does not have touchwiz on my NB1?

I have a att s4 sgh-1337 with android 4.4.2. baseband version 1337UCUFNB1. I'm trying to put on CM 11. or another rom that looks like stock android with no touchwiz and 100% working and stable. if I downgrade to android 4.3. can I then root, install CWM recovery, and install CM 11?
what would happen if I booted into android system recovery and installed the cm 11 rom for my phone?

Short answer: No. You'll void your warranty and bootloop.
As for 'stock android look', I can recommend PurifieD or Google Play Edition ROM although it has a few bug that I'm going to work on once this semester ends..

No CM for now. You cannot replace the stock recovery. The only working recovery we have is safestrap.
You can use DVKM Tool and install BlackBox3.0 (Check post 3 of All things ATT thread)
thanks. hm, don't know what I should do. I bought this phone last week used on ebay so I dont think I have a warranty to void. another reason I wanted CM is so i could easily get updates. I dont really want to be messing with roms all the time. do you guys think cm will work soon? in the next few months? maybe I should stick with what I have till that happens. I'd rather wait for that then cause my self more headache.
does PurifieD come with the stock kitkat widgets?

No, probably not. The i337s bootloader is locked so we can't flash kernels. A lot of devs have moved onto newer devices so I doubt anything new will happen. And I'm not sure what the stock kitkat widgets are.

what android version would the i337 need to have to be able to install cm 11? 4.2.x ? I'm thinking of asking the guy I bought mine from to see if he has any others that still have an older android version that would let me install cm on.

hm. Im not sure how to have the seller check for me then. if the phone has android 4.2.2, it should be on mdb or mdl, right?
Or it might have MF3. To find out, just go into Settings > About Phone (if the phone is complete stock unrooted, then the build number/baseband should match the boot loader)

yes. that's exactly what updating does.

Can you downgrade to a custom ROM if you're rooted and already updated?

Hey guys, everything I've read has said once you update beyond 4.3 you can never go back down because of knox. I also saw someone mention you actually can downgrade to a custom ROM based on a previous build just not to stock. Can anyone clarify this for me? I'm not worried about breaking my warranty since it's long since expired. I'm on the rooted 5.01 Goldeneye ROM and want to go back to a 4.2 ROM. strictly for tethering purposes
What is the model # for the s4?
It's the AT&T sgh-i337
With a locked bootloader, the phone is limited to customs roms based off a stock Samsung rom. Aosp and cm will not install or run.

Ok thanks. Can you suggest a good 4.2 ROM? Also, since I'm already rooted with safestrap, do I just wipe and flash the new ROM or do I need to install a different version of safestrap and kernal etc? I'm have trouble finding any instructions on how to downgrade. I appreciate all your help!
I can't recommend any 4.2 roms as I don't have the phone. Also, I don't think such an old rom will work on an lp modem and bootloader.

Ok so based on your statement "I don't think such an old rom will work on a lp modem and bootloader," does that mean you actually don't think I can downgrade?
You can try but I don't think you will have a functioning phone in that the imei will not be properly displayed which means the phone wouldn't be able to connect to the carrier.
