So I switched from Sprint to Verizon on Friday and I picked up the LG G2 after having decided on the HTC One. I'm loving the phone but the volume is really low, I can't hear the ringer half the time and I almost never hear my text message notifications. I've rooted and done the volume mod, but that really hasn't helped. I also installed an app from the market called the LG G2 Volume, but that only works for the headphones. When I had my GS3 I was able to flash an update that increased the speaker volume by 25, 50, 75, or 100%, but I've not seen anything like that for the G2. I really like this phone, but I work in a place that I have to be able to hear my phone, and I'm on call 8-10 nights a month, and have to be able to hear the phone ringing. Does anyone have any solutions?
Bump. No one has had an issue with the low volume?

I'm sure I'm not the only frustrated with the uunusually low maximum call volume for the g2 which makes conversations in crowded places pretty difficult. I just wanted to know if this is something that can be fixed with an ota update or root, or are we stuck with this limitation? Thanks in advance

This is something I would like to know as well. I think that's the only thing bothering me about this phone now that Paul Obrian's awesome VISONary app is installed. The speaker is pretty low too.

I agree as well. The in-call voice volume is pretty low, and makes it pretty hard hear what the person on the other end is saying.
I know with the vibrant that there was a code you could dial, and it would take you to some more phone options. We did this to try to fix the GPS in its early stages.
Has anyone lost like 60% of sound reproduction volume with the upgrade to 3.1? I'm about to do a wipe and reinstall if it's just me, but basically I can't hear **** now.
I used to be able to hear the tablet clearly from another room, not loudly but i could make out what song was playing. Now I can barely hear the tablet when it's in my hands. Is it 3.1 or did primordial do something. Is there a sound mod app? I have looked and my volume settings all APPEAR to be maxed out.

I don't know that it's a 60% reduction but I have noticed it as well.

No change for me. Internal speakers are still plenty loud. Headphone is too quiet, but that was the case with earlier firmware too, but that can to some extent be solved with a free app called Volume+. (It's a pay app in the market, but free if you go to the author's own site, and enable installing apps from outside the market.)
What's hopeless for me is the microphone. It barely picks up anything more than 2-3 inches away from the mic port. To Skype, I actually have to hold the tablet sideways so my mouth is right next to the mic, which seems ludicrous to me. Been meaning to start a thread and ask if others have the same issue.
I just tried to play some mp4s that I have, I noticed that the volume is lower too.
It was anemic before and possibly slightly more now. The overall volume (or lack of it) is the only thing I really find disappointing about the TF. Was playing a vid for a doc at a meeting the other day, and three of us huddle around it had a hard time hearing it cranked all the way up. The slightest noise of anyone else doing anything in the room just killed it.
Yeh I've had a major drop in left speaker and bad drop in volume on headphones ...... And mine was the official 3.1 update too...... Very dissatisfied

Same problem here. Video is very low when playing avi's or TV Shows Stream. But YouTube app is plenty loud.
Any fixes?
I bought volume + and now it is much louder. Left speaker is still lower volume though. But now atleast I can hear music from the tab.

Bumping this. I'm hoping someone has an idea. It feels like its getting worse. Basically I used to be able to place the tablet on a rack in front of the ****ter and enjoy a show while I pooped, but now I simply can't hear it at all, even with no white noise or anything that could be an issue. So with what you guys have said, I know I'm not crazy.
SOMEONE PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW.
some peeps already figured out it's a messed up sound config file and you can fix it if you are rooted, was readig through a thread on it here I bleieve lst night. I'm sure it'll be fixed with a software update.

I'm delivering pizzas right now. Do you have a link
I had this too before I sent it in for RMA service.
In fact, I knew about this issue before I even upgraded to 3.1 so I was aware and decided to see if these people were making this up or not. After upgrading I did notice a significant decrease in volume. This was disappointing, it almost made me feel like I was using the Nook Color again.
You're not imagining this. Before the sound was so loud that you could hear it from another room and the unit actually vibrates a bit. Now it's so low it's hard to hear the low tones in anything.
My guess is they messed with it to try to fix the imbalanced speaker issue but ended up messing it up for other people now. ETA for fix is fifteen years. See you then!
Noticed lower volume too after update. take the srs_proceeding.cfg file from my 3.0.1 and paste it to the 3.1 rom and it was louder.

I been searching non stop and asking questions everywhere without getting a step forward, and I know this isn't the right place and way to go about it, but it needed to be done. We need a flashable volume mod. Unfortunitly my rooted N7, is really my wife's N7. So I have to keep it relatively stock. I noticed volume increase app's dont work, and there hasn't been an xloud mod yet. Truth is we NEED a fix to make it louder. PLEASE help with a mod/fix! I can guarantee it'll bring much happiness to a lot of people, and a lot of praise to the dev who makes it happen. I have see a few roms that have volume mods. Problem is I can't run a themed out, badass Rom cause then my wife will realize I did mod hers and she'll flip.....and blame every little thing that goes wrong on me.
I use paid app volume+
The improvement in audio levels is very obvious
Some said this app doesn't work on jellybean but I beg to differ

You might have a defective unit. Someone else was complaining about their speaker volume being quiet even at max volume, but mine gets fairly loud. I don't know if you're looking for ear-splitting volume though.
I think peoples' opinions of the volume are relative. For example, in a quiet environment, mine seems loud. In a room with a lot of white noise (window AC, fan even), it seems to get drowned out.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Would volume+ help raise the volume with head phones/head phone jack? I don't care about the speaker volume, but I recently took a flight on a small plane sitting next to the engines and could barely hear my ear buds at max volume.
It's not defective. It could just use a little boost. My EVO 3d needed the same treatment, xloud mod plus volume+ app was the perfect combo. Basically like u called it, seems ok most of the time but gets drowned out easily. Volume+ has a headphone and Bluetooth boost....if the app really works on JB.
One criticism of my N7 is that the max volume is too low. I am hearing impaired, but don't have this issue with any other device I use. Whether the speakers or headphones, it is just too low. I think I have tried every free volume setting or boosting app on Google Play and none of them seem to do a thing. My device is rooted with the stock 4.2. I am not particularly interested in loading a custom ROM just for this, but if that is the only solution I might. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Don't do it. I blew my speakers with a booster app.
A better solution ( and with better results ), is to get a bluetooth external speaker. A friend of mine has one of these, and I was surprised by the
amount of volume coming from it in a 20 by 20 room. and he only paid 30 bucks for it.
you can try this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889522
Hey Bro I have two apps I've downloaded and use them at the same time one is called speaker boost and the other is called ear piece they work great for me once installed go into the settings and adjust the volume limit to 100% I hope this helps you GOD BLESS YOU GUYS

Youre lucky! Or maybe I am doing something wrong.
The volume through headphones while watching movies using the Google Play Movie app is so low as to border on unusable. Unless you are in a very quiet environment, my experience is you can barely hear the dialogue even at max volume.
Wish there was a way to fix this, as watching movies on airplanes is a primary reason I bought the Nexus 7 and its quite poor for that.
I'm in the same boat. With 4.3 installed headphone volume is limited to 50% on movie/music playback, No warning ever pops up, and all the "audio booster" apps say they only work with Gingerbread.
Is there anyway to increase with the S5 thru headphones? I used to use DSP manager with my old phone and it made a world of difference... Also is there anyway to get better signal. There are times I have 1x signal but my phone wont do anything thru the internet..
Bump anyone?
Check the themes and apps thread thought I saw a mod in there. I personally changed my settings in (mixer paths) with root browser.

You could use viper and use AGC to raise the volume. Though I seem to remember an actual volume boost. But then it seemed to disappear. You can also use an EQ as a pre-amp. If it does not have a gain slider just boost all the frequencies the same amount. Start with +3db with your volume low and then bring up your volume. You got to be careful to not overdrive the preamp stage so go slow. If it does start distorting you can pull the bass frequencies to sacrifice some bass for volume. Bass frequencies take the most power so small changes can get you some more headroom.
If you have hard to drive phones you could get a cheap/small DAC. If there aren't already there will be volume hacks coming.
Have you tried anything from the Play Store for more volume?

Broadley1: what do i do? What is the mod called? Im on stock S5
ezas: I havent tried the playstore yet. Figured i would ask here before I bloat my cellphone more than it already is.. Would really appreciate it if there is a app or some tweak to boost volume as it seems somewhat low compared to my old HTC EVO
If you are not rooted you can't use viper ?
Just search on volume in the play store. If you need it is not boat is it.
I used my headphones for music yesterday and it was plenty loud at 1/2 volume.
Light bulb just went off. Sound alive has an EQ. As I said just boost (each slider) them all a little bit at a time.
Give it a try and I'll subscribe to this thread.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
ezas: what do you use to get it loud enough at only 50%? I just checked sound alive & the EQ is literally all the way up on everything. However, i think that EQ is only for the music player right? Its not for incoming calls ?
Yes that's true. Sound Alive is only going to help music. LOL I didn't really think that through.
I haven't been playing with my phone much so I can't offer much help.
Is it volume for speaker, headphone or both.
And what do you men by volume at 50%?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
In your reply you said at 50% yours is plenty loud thru headphones. I mainly care about the volume thru headphones & when making calls but increasing speaker volume would help too for incoming calls. I wish there was something as effective as the DSP app I used to have but was only useable thru root...
Root is SUPER EASY on this phone. I used it in the car today and I had to turn it all the way up but at that level it was driving my car stereo fine.
What headphones do you have? Are they considered 'hard to drive'?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The headphones I have worked fine with my old HTC Evo 4g however I needed to be rooted & tweak the eq curves under the app called DSP Manager. Without this app the sound was also pretty low on my old phone. Ezas what ROM are you using on the S5? If the phone bricks or something goes wrong will verizon void the warranty if I need to bring it in?

Don't worry about the phone. If after you root and run into a problem or need to take the phone back to Verizon you can easily recover and take it back to stock by using method in the following thread. [SOFTWARE] [GUIDE]***Odin Back To Stock*** R… | Verizon Galaxy S 5 | XDA Forum
