You guys helped me out by getting my S4 to be able to make calls and receive/send text messages, but my data and mms are a no go. I looked around, tried a few things, but none have succeeded. I currently have an unlocked Sprint phone with a straight talk sim in it. I'm running baseband mdc with 4.3 firmware. I've tried all the APNs at http://apn-settings.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-straight-talk-apn-settings/ to no avail, am I missing a step?

So, in a few days, i'm going to ireland. Currently, i'm trying to get my SCH-i545 (Verizon S4) To add an apn. I can't! Greyed out. Everything i've looked at says to just edit the current apn, but i can't. Everyone else who's tried using another SIM says talk and text work but not data, at least, not without changing apn settings. I've tried flashing new roms (Bootloader is locked) i've tried downgrading, i've softbricked it a few times, and i'm at the end of my chain. I really don't want to be stuck in ireland for the first time with no google maps... please help!
Hi, I'm having a very perplexing issue. For the last few months I have been running cm13 on my phone but recently it decided to not revive/send texts or calls but still got 4g and signal. I hadn't updated the rom or anything so that wasn't the fault. Looking at the sim card info in the setting it says it's in service and everything, but says the "cellular network state: Disconnected". I've reflashed to a touchwiz rom and everything worked fine. So far I've tried different cm roms clean and dirty flashing, flashing just the modem on to the cm roms, restoring from old backup before all this, replacing the sim card. For awhile I though it was the APN settings weren't right, but the cm apn settings matched the TouchWiz ones. I've also tried different unbootlocking methods, didn't help. Worked with an unlocked bootloader running touchwiz. My brother has been running the same phone and rom I was and hasn't had any issues. I'm out of ideas on what's causing this right now, hoping some can help.
Had something similar happen. Try changing the APNS till you get a single
Changing preferred networks might help too

Hello folks,
Galaxy S4, Play Edition, currently rooted and AOSP 7.1.2 installed.
I rarely used data on this phone and never since I installed the ROM. Lately, I needed the data often and I noticed that I do not get the data on this ROM. I confirmed with the carrier about the APN settings (Airvoice Wireless, att MVNO). The carrier reset data from their end. I tried manual APN entry but none worked.
Searching on the web led to various ideas, like reset network settings, airplane mode on/off etc etc. Tried everything, no change in the status quo. I am at loss on what is the problem. I tried the SIM in my wife's phone (HTC One X, Kitkat) and it worked without any issue.
I could not figure out PDA, CSS but the baseband version is I9505GUEUDNL3, in case if it needs an update.
I checked the thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/ref-galaxy-s4-i9505-modems-bootloaders-t3315987) over and over but didn't understand what/how this stuff is worked out.
I am really going nuts and I do not want to pony up for a new phone at this moment.
Any help is appreciated.
Flash back to a stock ROM and check for data connectivity. If everything works, it's a ROM issue rather than being a hardware issue.
The issue seems to be related to the ROM.
I restored to 5.0 (LRX21P.S012.141205) and the data works flawlessly.
Is it possible to modify which network bands a device communicates with by using only an app? And can that modification be permanent enough that flashing stock firmware through Odin doesn't restore it?
I got a bit carried away and was trying to get my Verizon S7 to become a strictly an At&t variant forcing it to register on GSM. Really, I have no clue what I was attempting, but now it takes several attempts to send text messages before they actually send. No problems with anything else except sending SMS. Before it will send, the phone will switch from 4G XLTE to N/A, then back again. I've tried different messaging apps, different SIM cards for Verizon and Cricket, and I've flashed multiple stock firmware all with the same results. My SIM cards in other devices work fine, but I've screwed this S7 up enough that its driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Did you try flashing the U firmware over the V phone? It worked for me.
Don't flash the AT&T one - not sure about Oreo, but the Nougat version of AT&T has a different boatloader (5) and it cannot be downgraded later to the 4 of the other versions.
