Just recently rooted my s4, was working fine or so I thought, went to flash NamelessROM, I don't think the rom is the issue, I had my s2 rooted and flashed on a weekly basis so I know about wiping, data cache, and dalvik, I flashed Rom then Gapps, and it was stuck on boot up, of course I made a nandroid and restored, but now I'm stuck on the yellow sprint screen, did my research and found it it's called a Yellow Brick, or referred to as. Found out a possible fix was downloading the kernel so I've chosen the Rooted NoData kernel to download and flash via odin. Is this what I should do or is there a better fix out there?
Sounds like you wiped everything. Can you boot into recovery?

Yes I can, and I tried to restore back from my nandroid which is how I'm stuck on yellow sprint screen now versus stuck on the boot for NamelessROM.
Do a factory reset in recovery and see if it boots.
That will wipe your accounts and what not but you can't boot anyway.
If it won't boot then you'll need to flash a ROM to get running. Do you still have the ROM you wish to flash on your SD card or internal storage?

Just got me stuck on NamelessROM boot up so I'm restoring off nandroid again. I think that flashing the kernel will fix it.
I'd get the ROM booting then play with the kernel. That's just me though.

I'm trying to push a kernel through odin, I could possible try to find a way to put a kernel on my extsd and try and flash it through twrp? Would I just have to wipe cache and dalvik and flash? because when I try through odin it fails.
EDIT: I found a fix it involves unrooting most likely, but if I do I'll be back at VPUAMDC (Android 4.2.2) so could I still root with SafeRoot? Or what would be the way to root from that version?
Which firmware version did you root from? If it was MJA or MK2 you have to use one of those, you can't downgrade to MDC easily.

Hello!
I was on the HKTW build as of yesterday. I have Tenfar's recovery and CWM installed too.
I attempted to install Kennith Penn's Alien Rom V2 and it seems like its flashing no problem... However, I get stuck in a boot loop.
I tried restoring to a previous back up , and that loops now too
So, I attempted to flash 2.3.4 Fruit cakes ( http://www.multiupload.com/U1EOJVAKPO ) and it seems that it is flashing it properly, because I got back my stock "AT&T" boot logo (from the factory) but, that goes into a boot loop too...
Can anyone please help point me in the correct direction of getting my device to boot the rom/ image properly? Is there a setting I need to ensure is checked on CWM (like mounts or something?) ... at this point, I cant even boot into Tenfars recovery... just CWM...
This sucks!
Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Bootloops in 99.9% cases means that you need to wipe.
1. Go back into CWM, wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
2. Flash the desired rom.
3. Go into CWM again and do all the wipes again.
And you should boot no probs.
p.s. these 3 steps should your blue print to installing any rom btw. even you want to backup apps - use TB.
thank you for your help....ive actually dome all of that and still no go

Have you tried wiping via fastboot?
moto-fastboot -w
p.s. do you have the latest CWM recovery? there can be problems if you arent using the latest one.

+1. i was having the same problem not too long ago and that fixed my problem.
My battery life has took a serious turn for the worse every since experimenting with a few different kernels, I'd really like to go back to stock 4.3 n9005 kernel. I did factory reset, but as suspected that didn't return the kernel.
Please help.

If boot loop happen after u flash the kernel than u flashed the wrong 1. Need to match with the firmware u're using. Try other custom kernel for 4.3. If u really planning to flash the whole rom then there is no need for custom kernel
HELP
So I was flashing the MOAR ROM and think I messed up. I was on Optimal Lollipop and used NI2 flasher to get to safestrap...Then instead of just wiping or doing advanced wipe I also did "format data" or whatever the bottom right option is when you are in the wipe section of safestrap... Anyways I then flashed this ROM and then the OC4 kernel and now I am in a bootloop. Samsung screen for a few seconds then reboots
I need to get this fix within the next hour. I have my PC with odin if someone can give me some guidance without linking to a thread about restoring.. I am hoping I don't have to go all the way back to Nk2 or whatver it was and then root all over again...please let me know how I can get back up and running quick!

ah good idea..didn't whatever I formatted like completely wipe everything..including safestrap and root access and EVERYTHING
If this doesn't work I know I can go the long way and start back at Kitkat and root again but that will take some time...could I just flash the OC4 or OD5 FULL firmware? One flash in odin just to get a usable phone for the night...and then tomorrow flash back to kit kat and start from scratch

I am more trying to figure out what went wrong...I just flashed the NK2 kernel via odin and I am now back in safestrap...
Previously the order I did everything was.
-Boot to safestrap
-Factory reset
-Format Data
-Flash ROM
-Flash MOAR ROM
Then the boot loops started
what should I do differently now that I am back in safestrap? I thought formatting data wiped EVERYTHING including safestrap and all that
**EDIT**
Tried a simple wipe data and getting
E:UnMount unable to find partition for path '/'
Updating partition details..
E: Unable to mount '/ss'
Full SELinux support is present
and then it repeats
ugh
do you know where there is a full Lollipop firmware I can flash..like all in one

Just do what you should have done. Don't format data. I don't know what you we're coming from as far as firmware but Factory reset, flash Moar, not knowing everything, it might not hurt to reboot to download mode after flashing Moar (through safestrap) and flash the firmware Moar is on. You have down that you flashed two roms. You can only flash one.

Sorry just in a rush so I was typing quick. Here is everything
I was on Optimal ROM (OC4)
I used NK2 Flasher to get to safestrap
Did a factory reset and accidentally formatted data
Flashed MOAR and then the OC4 kernel then started bootlooping
Taking your advice I quick flashed the NK2 kernel via Odin and got back into safestrap
Now after I factory reset it looks like it worked but there is also an error mentioning something about "E/ blah blah something not found"
I ignored it and flashed the MOAR ROM
Flashed OC4 Kernel
Rebooted
Now it's showing a tornado in the ocean and has been for 10 minutes...possibly a boot animation?
do you know what exactly happened? what does format data delete? I thought it would wipe the entire file structure of the phone removing safestrap and root which it somehow didn't?
last thing..if this doesn't boot. Do you have the link for the OC4 or OD5 FULL retail file to flash in odin? Isn;t there one file to get it back up and running for now

Just OC4
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952607153
But if you are going to do that you might as well go to NCG so you can root
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952607139
your not in a bootloop
Deodexed ROMs like MOAR and Optimal take 15+ minutes on first boot.
Give it some time!
So after a week of just bootloop, black screen of death and hard reset my rooted s5 suddenly open again.
Now that its open again what can I do to fix this? Cause im afraid that if i'll restart my phone i will get stuck in the bootlooop.
Suggestions?
Just to give you an update my s5 has been rooted for the past 2 years ...its just now that it got stuck in the bootloop.. im not really sure what caused this cause havent installed any apps that could affect the system...
Any ideas how can I fix it while its working again?
Would help if you gave us the model S5 it is, which firmware it's running, recovery etc?
Its g900f using stock rom... stock recovery
Please see attached file
Thanks in advance.
Download stock ROM using samfirm (or sammobile .com)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Put phone in download mode
Connect to PC USB > add .MD5 ROM to AP section in ODIN 3.10.7
Flash
Boot to recovery > Factory reset

Why don't you want to reflash? If you're rooted you should have backups.
Ok I think I missed that part... ok so if I flash, everthing will be wiped out right?

No it won't, and for a proper backup you need TWRP recovery
If your phone is having problems like it is, you very likely need to flash
Just flash the stock ROM over the top and your apps and data will remain
But backup photos and important files first by connecting the phone to USB and copying to PC
Forget about apps, you can reinstall them if something goes wrong
Ok thanks im starting to understand it now.. i just need to confirm a few things before i start doing it...i have watched a few vids and ok i think i missed installing a custom recovery... ill install it later and go with cwm...
Flashing the stock.. means getting my firmware(which has the size of 1gig+) in sammobile ang flashing it using odin right?
Read my 2nd post
Thanks alot got it! One last question , suppose that im not going to lose my apps but am i going to lose root once i have flashed the stock rom?
Yep, just root again, instructions are all over the forum, easy to find
Because you're getting bootloops, I suggested factory reset too, that will wipe the device, the flash won't, the reset will
I assume here's the steps that i need to take
1. Back up through cwm
2. Flash stock rom through odin
3. Clear dalv cache
4. Factory reset through recovery or from the homescreen setting?(will this removed supersu?)
6. Root device again
5. Restore back backup from cwm recovery?
Better method:
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 (Much more powerful recovery)
Make full Nandroid backup in TWRP
Wipe everything apart from Internal and External storage
Boot into Download Mode
Flash stock ROM with ODIN 3.10.7
Reboot
Now boot back into download mode
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 again
Boot into TWRP
Flash systemless SuperSU 2.72 beta or whichever is the latest beta atm
Don't restore your backup or you could end up with the same problems as before, I recommend using TiBu to restore your apps and data from the backup you made in TWRP

so i was on stock rom and i rooted it and installed twrp 3.0.2-0 and then did a backup of the stock rom and unticked data because i already have a backup of everything that was on the galaxy s4 on my computer and then i installed google play edition untouched rom and i didn't like it so i restored my backup and now when i booted back in it says com.android.phone has stopped working and it keeps appearing, i restarted and i got the same error and somehow i got to write my pin code and when i went in it showed my google play edition wallpaper for some reason and when it kept on flashing the same error then settings has stopped working came up! help me please! Download mode is still working, when i try to boot into recovery it says something in red and then some white text below it and then it goes black and boots into galaxy s4 gt i9505 screen.
Help will be appreciated
