What is wrong in android? Really???
NOTHING.
1. You should start ask yourself a question whether it gets delay in bone-stock firmware or just CM.
2. If you don't get a lot of answer, then start thinking it's only you who have problem, then think about what you have done to the CM settings or how you flash the custom ROM.
3. Stop blaming Android.
All Stock
Hi. I am using all stock LG G2. And I get this kind of error when using my Data.

So I've been having problems with push notifications (whatsapp, gmail) for a looong time now and it really pisses me off like f&*k. I mean, if I want an "instant" messenger, I don't want to receive my messages after 2 hours or when I wake my phone up, right ?
I switched ROMs countless times, same thing with kernels and all I can say is that the push notifications work perfectly ONLY on stock kernel+ROM (as from my experience). But what if I don't want to stay on 2.1 and receive my messages instantly ?
I've done some research on google for CM and push notifications and it appears that I'm not the only one having this problem. People say that there's an issue with mobile internet connection (I don't experience problems on WiFi) and it feels like it "refreshes" from time to time instead of staying connected. So what's the case here ? I'm desperate to have it fixed, but after weeks of research, all I found is that people on stock ROMs don't experience this s#it...
In many roms, To save battery the internet connection refreshes, so u just have to remove that setting, Ask it to the developer of the respective rom how to do it

Thank you for your answer. I hope it helps with my push notifications issue, because I get this with literally every messanger (Whatsapp, Talk, Viber, GMail). Screw the battery life, I want to stay connected instead of getting a 2 hour delay between messages
I never have this issue :/ you sure that android is not killing them because of low memory etc

Lots of ROMs, lots of kernels, no task killer, no additional apps and it still disconnects after 5 minutes of the phone being idle. Then when I wake the phone up and go to Whatsapp for example, it takes a while to connect again (nothing shows in place of "Last seen"). In some cases I need to manually turn data transfer off and on again to make it work. Same with Viber, Google Talk, GMail. I eventually receive my messages after some random amount of time. Sometimes it's 5 minute delay, sometimes it's 2 hours.
Download trillian and ur good to go. In settings click keep WiFi activ and no prop no more.

I think you missunderstood me
I have no problems on WiFi. I have problems with push notifications in general. My data transfer won't stay connected full-time. It goes to sleep after I stop using my phone for a while, then it reconnects when I wake the phone up (sometimes I have to reconnect it manually), so the problem isn't with certain application, but with the phone in general.
Best regards
Solution
cyanogenmod turns off wi-fi when the phone is idle so you should download an app for that from the play store, like advanced wi-fi lock for example, to be able to keep it on. Hope i helped
But anyways i think that if the signal is low and the phone disconnects from the wireless network it wont connect again, so you will have to connect it manually again.
I just changed my provider to T-Mobile and it seems like the problem is gone. Why ? I don't know. I hope it's not just temporary and I won't come back here in a few days, complaining even more.
Regards
Yep, almost 2 days and it's working like a charm. If you have any problems with push notifications on CM, it's probably your provider screwing you over
Mod please close the thread
I don think its provider's problem. Why will they block the push notification?
I started experiencing this when I moved over to ICS.
hmm I don't know about ICS but on CM7 I don't have that problem. I have gmail, hotmail, whatsapp and viber apps, all with push notifications working fine... don't know why push notifications wouldn't work on ICS, in my opinion it's your providers fault if you try to push notifications using 3g or 2g data and they came delayed.
ps: I'm using miniCM7.
[edit: uh.. wrong threat]
is there a way of getting push notifications without google-apps?
Can anyone help here? I'm running a T-Mobile SGT7, and it runs great, with the Sapir version of CM10 from the development section.
The dreaded Phantom Voicemail has returned. The options to turn off Voicemail Notifications under PHONE do not exist in this version, and I can't seem to get any help getting rid of it. It is annoying as hell, because every time my phone comes out of airplane mode, I have to hear the notification sound go off (even though the voicemail notification sound is set to SILENT), and the icon just won't go away.
Steps I've taken.
1. Notified erezak, the guy making Sapir, multiple times.
2. Searched for any known fixes. Found none for CM10 at least, other than for Sprint devices. They seem device specific.
3. Looked for the setting under phone, which doesn't exist in CM10 for some reason, though it was there for CM9...
4. Froze the Mobile Data (voicemail, in Titanium Backup) app in Settings/Apps. Comes back the next time airplane mode is turned off.
5. Uninstalled the Mobile Data app (in Titanium Backup), and the Phone keeps crashing until I reboot. When I reboot, the notification is gone, but I also don't get any bars for phone. I need it for AGPS.
Keep in mind, I do NOT use the actual phone option here, as the device is installed in the dashboard of my car, but place calls with it using Tablet Talk to my phone.
Also, the SGSIII had this going on, and they added the fix for it some time ago. If you don't know what Phantom Voicemails are, it is getting a voicemail notification that cannot be cleared, at all. The phone on my tablet has never been used.
Suggestions?
Over a thousand views, several ROM updates, and the option to disable voicemail notifications still isn't here.
The fix for CM10 for other devices is there, can't we just pull that?
Perhaps this could help get this fixed for us?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465504
I'm having issues with the build system again.
However, the next build will contain the option to disable the notification.
My apologies for the time it took.
Missing voicemail icon
I am new to CM10 rom and I would just like to be able to put a voicemail icon on my home screen, latest version I flashed tonight did not have that anywhere that I could find....a little help please.
Thanks

Dear All,
I have Nexus 4 device with stock rom and I'm facing the following issue:
When I'm not using the device for few mins and someone sends me notification in whatsapp I'm not getting it. Only when I wake up the device and open the app I'm getting the notification.
Did someone face this issue?
I'm not sure but I think this is some safe mode or something like.
Please help me with that.
Thanks,
Yotam
What kernel are you using

What will 4.2.2 do with regards to this issue?
Wifi is probably going to sleep. Go to advanced wifi settings and set it to remain always awake.
This happened to me, latest franco kernel version is somewhat fixing it!
I'm using the original kernrl, didn't change it yet?
did someone using Franco kernel and stock rom?
In the mean time I Chaged thr ROM to CM 10.1 , but I want to check it also with STOCK rom.
does someone knows which rom is the original one?
wifi sleeps when display is off, so push notifications are delayed, its a problem with 4.1.2, I currently haven't found a solution and its not my modem, wait for 4.2.2,
when streaming, display must be on to complete transfers

A work around, someone pointed out in another thread, is to set wifi deliberately to turn off when phone sleeps and leave mobile data on.. when you get a notification phone will wake and wifi will switch back on to receive notification.
can confim this works, i leave 2g only on.
Check your APN settings cos mine was doing the same thing till I changed the APN settings.

I was thinking that APN should be also an issue. in the mean time I switched to CM 10.1 and this issue dissapear
Is the problem only when you are using mobile data or is it wifi as well. Have you tried it with whatsapp plus.

It's seems that I've the same problem. When I just turn off the screen I've the notifications but when the phone sleeps more than few minutes I don't receive notifications.
I have franco r71, I see if this fix the problem as someone said before.
Is this happening to everyone or just a few people (including me)?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
WhatsApp on the Nexus 4 seems to be a complete and utter disaster. I don't know why but it takes 10-20 seconds to send messages via whatsapp, even when my signal is perfectly full and I could be browsing. On my old S1, it would send them almost instantly, the N4 seems to wait, dilly dally for a little bit then send them when it's happy to. I can't tell if it's a modem issue or a bug in JB but it's getting annoying.
I regularly receive clumps of 4 or 5 messages. They do usually arrive, even when in dormant, but they don't arrive like, one after the other, they just arrive all at once.
Its the standard jb WiFi issue described in Google bug report and happens to everyone.
Whatsapp is fine over 3g if.you have a decent 3g connection. In fact I use whatsapp on 2g and notifications are instant with the screen off.
As a side note, on fauxs latest beta kernel I haven't had the signal bars turn grey.

Not for me. It's fine over WiFi. Totally b0rken over 3G, takes ages to update and send messages
FYI this also happens with Facebook messenger

Can't decide what it is. Internet browsing seems fine on this phone, but WhatsApp is ****ed.
Even further problems today, surely this is to do with the baseband?
Hey guys.
I have a D802, 32 GB. For a few months now I am having bad sync problems.
As far as I've noticed, the problem is only happening on Wi-Fi. Here are two examples.
1. I get a message on my PC on Skype. Skype is also running on the phone with the exact same account. I don't get the messages until I open the app, but more often I have to reboot my phone in order for the messages to arrive.
2. I get a message on my PC on Google Talk (Hangouts). I usually get them on my phone 5-15 minutes later and can't respond to messages in time. Restarting the phone helps sometimes.
So, what gives? I tried several KitKat versions (20A to 20D), tried the Wi-Fi battery saving options on AND off, tried a factory reset, tried with apps like PNF... not much help. I (since I got the phone) run a stock rooted ROM. No custom kernels or recoveries.
Does anyone have a clue what is going on with the phone? Did any of you have problems like these? It's really annoying.
Thanks for your time, guys.

Correct. Wi-Fi is set to always be on.
Hi guys,
I heard of some poeple having this issue in the Jelly Bean times, but I never had it with custom ROMs...
I installed the lollipop factory image the same day it was available and I've been having problems with incoming whatsapp messages on Lollipop... Basically they either arrive super late (I'm talking more than 30 mins) when the device is in deep sleep, and I only receive them if I wake up the device AND open the app.
This happens in 3g and wifi. Wifi is set to stay on when asleep.
Anyone else with this issue?
Thanks.

Nope, no such problem here. Wifi set to stay on when asleep.
I just can't use WhatsApp at all on Wi-Fi since going to latest source. And just at home. Never connects. Everything else works fine, just WhatsApp doesn't. Works fine on other phones though. So it's something to do with either the latest source for me or lollipop.
