I can now install nothing when I go into the market. This problem has only just happened? Usually, you can install apps very quickly. I get a message that your app is being downloaded, but when I go to downloads, apps are just stating that 'started to download'! One app - PayPal - has been loading for 4hrs+ and it still hasn't loaded. This is happening now on anything I try and download, paid or free! Any ideas? Help.....
Kill market with task killer and try downloading the app again... if that doesn't work, restart your phone and it will work. I ran into this issue a lot of times
Just don't mess with the start up auditor. That's what I've learnt. I factory reset after I got the problem

can't download anyrthing from market, not even task killer. How do you restart the phone? I have switched it on and off and left the battery out for a few minutes.
Hi I had this problem a while ago and found a solution on the net somewhere.
It was this.... Go into settings. Application. Select google mail storage. Then delete data. Let the phone re sync.
Worked for me.

Cheers to all. Sorted it out now. Logged in and out of Google Talk via settings and hey presto. All my contact pictures are fuzzy but that I suppose is one price to pay.

Is there a way of getting these back and also what happens when there is updates available? will i be notified of these or not?
I find a specific app in the markdet that i have installed it shows as installed, its just when i go into the my apps part.

Your thread title isn't good at all.
There is a thread with the same stuff just only a few lines downwards and the answer / solution to your problem:

The server error thing has nothing to do with the firmware, it's an issue with the market server. Started to happen last night.
So is everyone else having this problem? Tried everything recommended but its still the same

Hi,
I'm using the PPC-SHIFTPDA Gingerbread Build. At the beginning everything was alright but now I can't download apps from the market. It just says "Download is starting" .
Can anyone help me?

Solution: I hadn't enough space on the phone storage. Just move apps to the SD card.
Try this... go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and find 'Market'... clear the cache and data.
Toggle airplane mode on and off... then try downloading again.
Okay, I did as you said but it is still not downloading. Thanks for your help.
Got another idea?

This is a bit of a long shot...
Are you using wifi or 3G to download? If possible, try the other and see if you have the same issue.
For example, I cannot download from Market using the wifi network at my work (I too get the 'downloading' issue), however I can install apps just fine using 3G. My home wifi is always ok.
Very rarely I have had the same problem as you and it resolves itself after a while. It is as if there is a problem at Google's server end.
Another issue that I sometimes have when I install a fresh build is that i have to try and download using 3G before I am able to download using wifi.
I'm using wifi. It would be a bit too expensive for me if I use 3G. I'm just a poor student, getting not much pocket money .
I had three other builds before tested and that's the second time this happens. I solved it last time changing the build. But. I don't want to change the build.
P.S.: The whole time Google Talk wants to log in but it can't, 'cause I don't have a Talk account.

OK, you could try this...
Can you try another wifi network? If not...
Backup your build and then hard reset the device from Android. Then try logging in to your Google account again and see if you can download from Market. I'm not sure what the cause of your problem is.
You can deactivate the Google Talk login problem by going to Accounts > Sync > Google > deselect the deisired sync options.
Okay did 2 hard resets but nothing changed. That's really weird...

Edit: I can't connect to other wifi
Sorry, I am lost now for a good suggestion. Whenever I have had a similar issue, one of the above has always worked for me.
Okay...
But thanks a lot for your help!!!!!!!

Hi Guys!
New to android after years with my iphone, and I'm loving it!
However, everytime I try to open a link etc I get a box that says "complete action using" and a list of apps I can open it with.
For example, a youtube link in the browser will ask me if I want to make the youtube app the default action.
I click ALWAYS, but then the next link I click on asks me the same message again. No matter what I do, I can not get my phone to set any defaults.
It's getting very frustrating making extra button presses to open every file and/or link on my phone.
Anyone else have this happen?
If I go to the task manager, I can see the defaults I want are in fact there, and I can clear them and start over but no matter what I do the phone just won't use them.
I'm using the stock launcher, and having the same problems with Nova.
Thanks for your advice!
Hi,
Out of interest, did you have this issue before installing Nova?

to be honest, I'm not 100 percent sure because I'm so new to this phone.
Do you recommend me uninstalling Nova? If thats what it takes to fix it, then I don't need Nova that badly!
edit: ok I removed Nova and the problem still exists
Am I the only one with this problem?
Hi,
Something to test/try but pick an app that you don't mind losing your settings or data for, e.g YouTube.
Go into Settings, General (tab), Application manager, All (tab), and find an app you've already set to be default (but it keeps asking). Go into the app and clear cache and data. Now open a link or whatever, get asked the 'default' question etc and repeat to see if that cures it.
If not we might look to clear the main cache next (will explain). Don't be put off Android or the N3 with this - both are fabulous and worst case it might just be necessary to backup your stuff and factory wipe/reset.

well, the solution for me was to factory wipe, bummer! problem fixed though.
If this happens again, I hope to find a better solution!
Thanks for your help Jonty
You could have tried clearing the defaults for the app first in settings/general/applications. (clearing the cache and data does not clear the defaults, that button is a bit lower.)

Hello,
I have cleared my main cache and still every single time I click on (for example) a name on the imdb.com website it asks me to choose and app. I have selected the App multiple times and ALWAYS hit "Always" when I choose it. Can I get help on backing up my data and then resetting my phone and then putting data, contacts, photos, etc back onto my phone.
Thank you,
theronpoe
I had this on my old Z1, and now I have a note 4 and it's on it as well... Every few days I get a pop-up on my phone with a Chinese word (screen shot will be added), and despite all my efforts with anti-virus / anti-malware apps, it persists. I found nothing on it online... I used Google translate to try to make sense of this pop-up, all it says is " 堰" which translates into "weir". I used es file Explorer to search my entire phone for that Chinese word, it came up with nothing. I deleted all apps that I thought were suspicious, and still nothing. Could someone help me with this? It's driving me insane. Thank you.
Could it be an app that you had both on your z1 and have it on your new device as well? How about doing a factory reset and then if your problem persists? The only logical course I can think of is to install your apps incrementally and seeing when this starts again. Also, try to keep unknown sources and verify apps on under security. Hope that leads you in the right direction.
I've deleted almost all third party apps, did a factory reset, even flashed a new ROM from sammobile... It still happens. This problem started when I put my old memory card from my Z1 on the note 4. But I've switched it for a new one, and flashed the new ROM after that (and wiped data, and cache), and still no luck. I'm beginning to think it may have been a virus that implants itself to system files or something... I'm a noob though, I need some developer brain power for this
It could be a message from your SIM card or network.

Yes I agree with Jimmyness. Go get a new SIM card, assuming you moved the SIM from your old phone. You've changed everything else.
Alright, I'll give it a shot and let you guys know... Thanks

To see which app this pop-up message is belong to, try the following:
install Shortcut Master app > Menu > Capture Shortcut.
That shortcut master app... I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to do.

What service provider are you using? Does this happen after a factory reset before you add your Google account? In thinking you are letting an app install after you reset.

It captures the shortcut of the popup shown on the screen.
That way you will know which app that popup is belong to.
