Hello
- Advice requested
I have had my G2 D802 bought in Europe, Sweden, for a couple of months now and right from the start I have been taking care of it;
Back and front screen protector applied (thin plastic one, great acctually)...
Now, in the end of January 2014, I yesterday noticed a thin ray of light coming from "inside" the screen and shining out between the touch sensitive display and the edges (bezel?) of the device.

These images are all focused on the thin light escaping from the side of the display.
It is a opening as thin as a single piece of hair.

Please leave a comment or just vote in the embedded poll at the top.
The images are grainy, yes, but all show the light comming out.

Well, I flashed stock and got a service ticket for a warranty repair.
It took 35 minutes for them to give my device a new screen.
All is good. I'm happy.

Same has happened with mine a few months after purchase! Mine is a Carrier device so i think they will replace it ok. I hope this isn't an ongoing things with G2's!
Same here. Same place
Same here, can I glue it with an easy method?
Without disassembling the whole phone.

Ok, I had a search and I can't see anything quite the same as what I have going on, if there is I apologise and please point me at it?
Anyway I have an HTC Desire Z, I dropped it and smashed the digitizer. Everything still worked perfectly but I eventually got sick of reading through smashed glass (luckily screen protector meant I didn't cut the tips of my fingers off lol)
So, I order a replacement digitizer, slowly and carefully fit it (following a couple of guides on youtube etc. Everything is safely back together however now when the phone turns on all I get is a rainbow coloured stripe going up the left hand side of the screen. I pulled it all apart again assuming it was a lose/bad connection put it all back together even more diligently.. same thing.
Figured it was faulty so the seller (generously) sent out a replacement unit... problem is I am still having the same issue... any idea what I have done wrong/is the LCD now buggered too? I am so confused as all worked perfect until I "fixed" it
Looks like this now (ignore the bubbles that is just the cover that comes on the new digitizer unit:

any and all help is appreciated.
I am having the same issue...and I believe it to be a poorly connected and or broken ribbon cable. I am however not 100% on that.

That black circle on the screen indicates that the lcd is damaged. I has a similar problem. I replaced the lcd and everything was running again.

so this just happened recently. the pictures I take, there are three little black specks that show up. I cleaned my phone's lens with a lens cleaning cloth and a small amount of solution. nothing. it's annoying me slightly. any ideas on how to fix this? thanks in advance.
I took a pic so that the spots would be visible.

I know. it's bugging me. :\
like he posted above maybe dust or water marks even if it wasnt direct water condensation maybe........even though our screens are kinda sealed theres alwasy a way for crap to get under there.....it used to happen crazy on my old blackberry storm omgi cant believe that i even had one....so glad that was over a long time ago
yeah I figured. I was hoping that wasn't that case and maybe I'd be able to clean it out or something.

LoL...spirits on the camera good one.

I know several people have been complaining that their N7s had light leak issues. Mine had leaking around the edges and a circular leak in the top right of the screen which was noticeable when I put my tablet down on a desk and used it at a 90 >= angle. I contacted ASUS and sent my N7 back, not only did they swap out my LCD but also gave me a brand new battery too!
I suppose the only money I'm out now is the money I spent on the screen protector that was on the unit when I sent it in (I'm assuming that by replacing the LCD, that the LCD is directly attached to the outer plastic of the screen, which includes the surface the screen protector was on).
Cool story, bro.
How do you know they replaced the battery?

Broke display of my LG G2 for the second. time. Both times the phone fell from less than 1 m height on to concrete floor. The same thing happened with my colleagues phone also. I hate putting cases or screen guards on my phone as i will lose the original feel of the phone. I have already spent half the price of phone for getting it repaired. Is this happening with everyone ? What is the thinnest protection case available for G2 on market ?
answer
hi, there, I have been used the Pure Gear slim shell protective case for my LG G2, so it´s very thin and light. if you want to add a light good quality case to your handset PureGear it´s a good idea.

Tempered glass screen protector, feels just like the original glass and prevents micro scratches / weak points happening.
@shafee005 I just suggest to you to use a cheap tpu case, it maybe is less comfortable but think about it that that 1 euro investment or lower if you order from china that will spare you another broken screen. I also suggest to use a screenprotector even if you lose the original feel from the phone don't forget that this spares you another screen.
I don't want to be a partypooper but I think that this thread belongs in Q&A.

Soooo... My wife dropped her VS980 for the first time in 2 years. All seemed fine (hell I've dropped phones countless times) at least for an hour or two.
We got home and her screen started to do this:

So, I researched it and found that insulation of some screen components in the phone are very important to keep insulated. So I popped it open, and it looked fine. But I threw a piece of electrical tape between the components regardless:
Phone still does the lines. A few key notes: Dark backgrounds don't really affect it, turning brightness up high really sets it off, if I cycle the screen on and off it seems to go away, for a few seconds at least, before it starts creeping back into the screen.
Any thoughts? I was hoping if I powered down and left it inactive maybe it would give the LCD time to reset? Sounds stupid though. Could it be anything else? GPU? Bad luck?

Bought a new LCD from Fixez.com. Just arrived today. Hopefully this corrects the issues. I'll let you all know if it does.

UPDATE: The new screen worked perfectly. Took me about an hour, and was able to get it completely changed. Working great now. I hope this helps anyone troubleshooting screen issues!
