[Q] Wanam and Gravity Box - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did any one use Wanam and Gravity Box at the same time already?
Currently I was missing the quick pin unlock and Gravity Box includes this.
In Wanam, I couldn't find the option. Therefore, Wanam has the disable start sound and wake on home button settings which Gravity Box doesn't include.
Any experience?
I'm currently running both, but don't know yet if they affect each other.

I've found I can use both at the same time but many things on both don't work. Eg quick settings tiles and ordering on gravity box.

I actually had Gravity Box still installed, so I just reactivated it and tried.
So far, the quick pin unlock works. I hope that skipping tracks with volume buttons still works without glitches. What I had though were 2 circle batteries So I disabled the one in Gravity Box.
It's just really hard to know which settings in one of the modules affects settings of the other one.

lockscreen/keygaurd move emergency call

I'm using kangakat and Gravity box. On my lock screen, the emergency call button is millimeters from the home button and so I constantly hit it by accident. Can I move it above the Sliding ring? I could do with removing that carrier id as well.

You can't actually change the location of the emergency call button. You can, however, remove it and the carrier logo. I did that using Wanam xposed app. It has a lot of the same things as Gravity Box and more. You also don't have to worry problems with using both apps. You can use some settings in GB and some in Wanam without compatibility issues.
Thanks. I tried wanam xposed, found the settings but they don't seem to stick (wanam does say my ROM is not supported). Unless I have a way to do it manually I may be stuck. Asking about it in the gravity box thread is a nonstarter.
In case anyone find this thread, the settings are in "wanam xposed" not "wanam kit"

I didn't think to ask you if you were on stock rom or not. There may be an easy way to do it under the lockscreen settings in the rom. If not you might also be able to manually change that setting in the build properties, but I've never tried to do that with a custom rom. If you tell me what rom you are using I can try it on my phone and see if I can find a way to do it. It may take me some time, but I'll help you out.
Kangakat 6.0
I don't see it in the security settings. Thanks for your help.

Samsung Note 3 keyboard changed how to get back?

Today my Samsung keyboard changed from long hold on letter and get a symbol like a long hold on "a" would get me "@" but now when I long hold "a" I get "à, á, â, ã....". The keys would also have the symbols in the corners of the keys to show you what a long press would get you but those are also gone.
This started today, I made a text and it was working fine then a couple minutes later I made another text and the keyboard changed.
How do I get back to having a long press gives me a symbol instead of an accented character?
Exposed Wanam has an option to enable symbols. It is set to disable by default. Did you install this lately?

I did about a week ago and I haven't enabled any exposed modules yet. Even if it was this app why did it make changes to the keyboard a week after the install and the module was never enabled?

are you using gravity box with xposed framework?
i lost recent button as well when using gravity box and messing with the hardware keys options, long press, double tap, etc
i would uninstall gravity box if you have it and see what happens.

if thats the case, id install xposed frameworks, install gravity box, mess with the hardware keys options and see if that FIXES it. If not, your next option would be to do a clean wipe and flash.

Yeah I run xposed with Wanam and a couple other modules. Worth a try I reckon ... Could update to latest release while I'm at it still on NI2 that should take care of it as well ...

Wanam is great for theme-ing , call, security and other tweaks, but i havent seen much about hardware keys in there, your best bet is gravity box for your recent key to come back.

Understood re: Wanam ... was just saying I have it in reply to the suggestion I install xposed. Will give it a try.
Didn't make any changes to the phone and *poof* just as mysteriously as they disappeared, they are back ... *shrug*

[Q] No 3 dots menu any more?

When i bought the Nexus Player I had a 3 dots menu in apps.
Now I'm on android 5.1 and i did a factory reset (don't ask why. Just needed) and now I don't have 3 dots any more.
Any way to get them back? They are needed for some apps and can't be replaced by "tablet remote" for example.
same here...after updating to 5.1 the menu is gone! :*(
I might be wrong, but I think that LP 5.1 for "ATV" removed/broke the support for apps that... either don't follow Google's new Material Design guidelines or restricts apps that are coded to support the soft/hardware Menu button in Android devices. (The menu button and the the 3 dots on the GUI have equivalent functions in later versions of Android) Of course, it might also have to do with restrictions for apps that are not designed "specifically" for the Nexus Player ATV. I'm having this issue with Titanium Backup. I can't restore the apps I backed up using LP 5.0 because the Titanium interface is missing the main action buttons. The same version of Titanium works fine on my Nexus 7 running LP 5.1 for "Tablets".

exactly the same problem in my case. i cant restore my titanium backup and even to set up sixaxis app. Even tablet remote that has a menu button doesn't help... Maybe there is a way to get it back?? Or does vanillipop rom has it fix?
The inability to access the 3-dots menu is one of the most frustrating changes with Android 5.1 on the Nexus Player. Sometimes you can still access the menu if you try moving a mouse cursor over the area or by using Droidmote Client's hamburger menu button but that may not always work. As for customizing Sixaxis Controller, there is a solution. If you go in to the keyboard settings menu of the Nexus Player and choose "Sixaxis Controller" as the current keyboard, a "configure" option shows up underneath it which leads you in to the settings menu for Sixaxis Controller.
Is there no way to enable this? Sending the menu key via adb input keyevent doesn't work and the little ribbon that some application have don't show up either. Seems weird to remove such an essential functionality.
First screenshot shows trying to set a background with Nova. Second shows what's supposed to be there.
If Google doesn't bring back the 3 dots menu in Android M, then I think our only hope may be to see it restored through an Xposed module. GravityBox has a "force overflow menu button" in its miscellaneous tweaks menu but it does not seem to work on Lollipop, unfortunately. I've already asked the GravityBox developer, @C3C076, if he can fix that option in a future update of his module but he's going to be very busy with a project at his job until further notice.
I'm curious if anyone was ever able to figure this out. Not being able to get to the menu on some sideloaded apps is killing me. Do custom ROMS (AOSP or CM) have this same limitation?
Yeah I really need the 3 dots as well. Setting up vnc client and can't disconnect. Too bad there isn't some app to force the bottom menu bar, or an app that could bind the 3 dot function to a button the nexus remote would be nice. I'm assuming a custom rom doesn't suffer from this.
I found a solution! These are floating nav buttons. I used to use them when I had a Nook Color and it only had 1 physical button and app implementation for softkeys wasnt very great yet. They work on Nexus Player Marshmallow! You need a mouse or a pointing device though and these have to be sideloaded.
Floating Soft Keys *Root*

Works great - doesnt auto hide but everything seems to work fine.
-or-
Button Savior - Root Version
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey
Also works. Has an Auto Hide feature which is good. Less ability to edit stuff since there is a paid version. It will ask you to change accessibility services when you start, but it will then also say that device does not have this feature or something like that. The NP does. You have to go to Settings, Accessibility, Services, and then activate it. Then the app will work fine!

It's impossible to set xposed modules now because just like titanium backup, the menus in the xposed app are gone/missing. I tried using xposed to fix this menu button problem but no dice.

I tried out Button Savior on my Nexus Player with Android 6.0 but it isn't the universal solution that I was hoping for. There are still some apps such as AdAway and Xfinity TV Go which do not work when the soft menu button (four squares) is clicked on. The function works in ZArchiver but DroidMote Client already has this capability in the form of its three lines menu button.
Ya I believe Xfinity TV Go app doesnt use the dot menu though. It's a sliding menu from the left side. I believe you can click and drag it open in Lollipop but not in Marshmallow.

It's still encrypted

2. RootCloak (necessary in case you use apps that don't work on rooted phone)

Some parts are, I am unable to do things like remap buttons etc and it crashes if you try to do any quick management editing (which is to be expected). On the plus side, the developer has just ordered the 3t and is planning on making a full;y comparable version for us

That's right. But I still have to wait to have device in my hands as it's currently hard for me to assess what it will take and whether it is worth to work on Marshmallow version considering 3T is receiving Nougat in couple of weeks, which seems to be quite different (hopefully more AOSPish) compared to OOS 3.5.
The only one I seem to find a use for is "Ringer and notification unlink" so that I can separately set notification levels. It adds the slider with the others in settings/sound.
Is there any module to auto hide the navbar after a certain time to prevent burn-in?
/e: so trying to manipulate softkeys with GB results in some weird outcomes (e.g. backbutton not working)
I want this function but i can´t find any mod for it
Short press on recents button - Open menu
Long press recent button - open recents
Long press back button - kill app
Include my modules

a must have is "app settings 1.13" for the simple reason you can change orientation, dpi, keep on, and much more on any app

That's sad, maybe I've just been using it for so long it seems simple to me. I guess it just wasn't meant to be for you then because it works perfectly on every phone I've ever had including this one.
