Root explorer is still the best for me.

If its "best", perhaps some feature comparisons are in order?
No way I'm just gonna randomly install apks from someone's dropbox.

Honestly even if he put it on the play store, it wouldn't be much safer. Now, that's not to say that it was completely safe the entire time.

Personally I'll always stick with FX File Explorer.
Multiple windows, clipboard management, cloud management (with plus addon), root permissions, great UI

It's on the play store, not sure why he didn't post a link to it on there... Kind of sketchy. Looking at it on the play store it does seem to have some interesting features such as multi windows with drag and drop.

Precisely. How would I know its safe? Op gives hardly any app description then doesn't upload it to Google play. Just doesn't necessarily scream "legit" to me
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

The app is available on the Play Store for a while now. It's also featured among "apps to watch" section.

I just switched from Root Explorer to this a couple days ago. Very nice on the eyes and seems to do just about everything the others do.

I absolutely quote.
This is not the best, and is not safe to install an apk "spammed" from a DropBox account (while the original is simply on the Play Store, easy to be linked...).

This, Solid Explorer and X-plore are the best "advanced" file managers.
Clean File Manager ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.clean ) is the best "simple, quick and easy" file manager for basic operations.

I find myself using different explorers for different reasons. I find myself using X-plorer a lot though. Once you get used to it, it functionality is great.

I wanted to test this file explorer out awhile ago but every time I launched it I got this message:
Not sure what the problem is.

Solid explorer has the nicest blue folders GUI IMO
Via my NeXus™ 7 FHD on Tapatalk⁴ Pro

I use Es File Explorer. I love it because of the sliding tab navigation, the SMB auto discovery and FTP support (used to move files between Nexus 5 and my Pc), the ability to send directly file to another phone using ES in the same LAN, the Cloud support, root access, gestures, recycle bin.
I can copy/paste from every local/remote/cloud folder directly to another local/remote/cloud folder, and i think this feature is just amazing.
And it's free!!! What else?

Root Explorer FTW

I settled on Solid for my day-to-day file manager needs, including SMB, FTP and SFTP. I still use root explorer for root exploring though.

still use solidExploer unlocked
love it when u can slide file in everywhere

I like this one, File Manager...

Works VERY WELL! I have lived by miren browser... this blows miren out of the water... very snappy to load pages! My new favorite browser! Now they just need to make it work on something other than ics and it'll be the only browser I need!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I agree, its pretty snappy and it feels like it should have been there all along.
I like it very much.
I just downloaded it and I really like it so far. The tab system is really smooth and good looking and there are a bunch of nice optimizations (like the magnification bubble that pops up when clicking on small links, like page numbers on a thread). The desktop bookmarks is SUPER laggy though, it takes a good 15-20 seconds for it to load and let you click on something.
Been using this on my PC's for years and I love it on my phone. Fastest browser yet! I just hope they come out with a dark version. Previously I used the dark dolphin mini and blacked out miren, chrome is soooo bright!

How often do people go to Kongregate on their phones through the browser to play games? There's enough apps with similar games, and you will still have the stock browser with flash if you really need it. I find that I barely use it in the browser. The Chrome browser is really well put together and will only get better!
HTML5 is just about ready to bust out; youtube has a whole branch for it. I am thinking really soon HTML5 will get the big push. (in that non-computer geeks will know it exists)
i agree flash is out dated but alot of sites still use it. thought it deserve a mention for people like me that dont want to have multiple apps for one purpose cluttering their phones. chrome beta is a great browser but until flash is completly gone it wont work for me. just my prefrence.
Running this on CM9-alpha1 and loving it! Tab management is the best I have seen to date, very clean. Also, syncing bookmarks and history is a huge plus. I type "f" in the address bar and it auto-suggests straight to the Epic 4G Android Dev page on XDA, just like it does on my laptop and desktop.

Irrelevant. It is a browser's job to show me web pages. If there's an old page with useless flash content, it is the responsibility of the browser to render it.
Regardless, I downloaded this earlier and wonder why it hasn't been part of Android all along, or why it wasn't just an update to the stock browser. Google now has two very similar mobile browsers for Android.

New XDA Theme

Well this new look is a big change. I refresh my page and bam! New layout, lol.
Thoughts on it?
Too bright. I'd prefer an inverted version.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
Too big. I browse XDA on my second monitor which is a 15 inch. Besides that, I think it looks alright.
I like it. It is bigger. Should look better on my 24" Monitor when I get it, also should look much better at 1080p as well.
it is a bit large but I think I like it better than the 2010 theme. I wish they had a floating bar a the top though, one that would stay while you scroll with the account options and maybe page selection.
I fixed my problem by going to control panel, edit options, and changing the skin to the last one on the list. Now I get the nice theme and I will not have to read XDA on my bigger monitor.

DroidTools - The best android utility available for Mac, period.

About
A little about how this app came to be! It’s really quite simple, regular users shouldn’t have to fumble with the terminal to get a custom device experience.
We quickly realized after getting a boat load of Nexus devices that flashing via terminal with all our specific tweaks took too long. Don’t get the wrong idea we love the terminal, but we just thought, for the people out there who love their Android device and may not love code there must be a better way. We started coding, and DroidTools was born. It’s simple, easy to use, and good looking.
DroidTools is an Android utility that provides the same capabilities you'd find using ADB terminal commands available from Google, the difference being this application presents a more user friendly experience for the somewhat novice user. (Research still required) to understand what and why for example you'd wish to flash a different baseband ect. This utility doesn't have embedded phone home capabilities, and this application doesn't store ANY device specific information. If you wish to use the integrated wifi capabilities DroidTools will store only the IP address of your device to attempt connection (at the time of your choosing), and can be reset at anytime. We developed this application because we simply wanted to contribute to the Android community, and in that spirit we've made this application available at no cost to you.

Increase Speaker Volume

Hi all,
I got my SHIELD Tablet today an I'm pretty impressed so far, especially the gaming performance is great.
But I would like to somehow increase the speaker volume. I rooted my device and found the /system/etc/nvaudio_conf.xml file.
Every value I edited didn't have any affect or even made the speakers mono and very low volume.
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance

He was asking which one you used. Like which version? I'm gathering you downloaded the one from the official website. You then unzipped it, installed it. and ran it. I too have done this. I'm using this Version: FX version 2.3.3.0 from here http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=31
I liked the one from the play store better because it had way more options. The one that says 4.x. However when I install it and try to install the drivers it says reboot. Only too reboot and it ask me to install the driver and ask which cpu version I have. Then reboot and the same thing over and over. So I had to go with the one from the official website version 2.3.3.0. Is this the same one yall are using?

I have no problem with Samsung keyboard so far, but I'm not fast typist by any means and don't type much. Isn't there another keyboard you can load, swiftkey or something? I think I had it on my old phone and at the end Samsung was better for me, but should work for others.
Stupid question: since we can disable programs using settings/apps, what is the benefit of using separate dedicated program, besides the usual faster/easier? For example can the program disable apps settings can't?

I froze the Samsung keyboard and am still having problems with it, lol! I still see that bug where the Sammy keyboard periodically tries to place itself back as 'default' is still around. It somehow screwed up my Swype and I had to make a few settings changes to get it working right again.
I've now tweaked my note 7 to where I'm literally getting 1hr and 20 minutes of SOT per every 10% of battery!

Samsung keyboard has issues. Google keyboard is working legit. No issues whatsoever.
