Hi,
My note 3 came with ap mj7 and csc mj4.
Root de la Vega won't work without tripping Knox.
Tried to find straight info about Kingo, some report it works on MJ4/MJ7.
A lot of mentions that Kingo steals data :/
*bump*
Nothing is guaranteed safe I'm afraid. Only way to be 100% is to try it. Unless Kingo state otherwise.
what did you read about Kingo? All I read it was sending IMEI to China which was supposed to be fixed by now and that they use Public Chinese servers for data storage, like it freaking matters with all the NSA revelations. Oh and there was this guy saying his antivirus program flagged Kingo as having virus, until someone pointed out his antivirus was actually fake and virus itself. I have Kingo on my computer, doing full virus scan daily and it comes out clean. After all this is hackers web site, you got to take your chances. Some guy had MI7 and claimed Kingo tripped the flag, when it worked for many others, so I would say there are no guarantees.
Well, it seems that Kingo is Knox safe for Verizon note 3 on up to mj7.
There are lots of reports of it working, almost all on Verizon.
There is the funny 'sending IMEI to China' bit, but still.
it would be nice for this to be confirmed working for international unbranded n9005.

Indeed! Got my N9005 unbranded with MJ7 and I'm willing to try Kingo, but I'm not sure if it will trip Knox :/
EDIT:
Gave Kingo a try but no joy. These are my FW config...
Can you clarify what do you mean?
Kingo didn't work and you have no root or you have root with tripped flag?
Sorry. Kingo didn't root nor trip my Knox.
EDIT: Also, didn't root cause I cancelled before the Custom Recovery installation... So I think it'd work if I went through...

I gave up and used CF-Autoroot.
Knox 0x1 and I don't have to worry anymore :good:
Posted my FW above. Tried vRoot now but no joy again. No root, no trip, no nothing. It just fails. I can't understand because it's in chinese.

Just got my N3 yesterday, mine is MJ7... Will VRoot work with the latest OTA already installed? I've done quite a bit of searching on getting this thing rooted but xda "banned" KINGO cause everyone is freaking out about some Chinese server or exploit threat or whatever, supposedly La Vega won't work after MJ7 OTA... Even though I've been rooting a while, this all has me confused on what really works and what just made it to the forums first but might not work... Any help with legit root and recovery methods would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

If you're worried about Chinese root method than you better stay away form vroot. Even the interface is in Chinese. Kingoapp, has addressed the concerns that some people had with their latest version, 1.1.2. You can check out their facebook page where they explain it all.
Understand that if you plan on using a custom recovery or ROM it will trip Knox and vroot and Kingoapp are probably not the way you want to go. You might look at CF Root instead.

CF Root will trip knox. What I was saying is that if you want a custom recovery or rom, you might as well go with CF Root because it is going to trip knox anyway. vroot and Kingoapp doesn't trip knox because you don't get a custom recovery or rom as part of the root. They let you use apps that require root and do modification on the stock rom (if you know what you're doing).
Will De Vega Work?
so will the de la vega root method work for the latest VRUBMJ7 update? If not, what other root method will work that will not trip KNOX? Thanks in advanced

So even with the canadian version unlocked bootloader you cannot install TWRP without tripping knox? Guess i can just use TBU to backup everything instead.
If you do root with one of these methods be careful. They are a security risk. I'd use mobile Odin to reflash my stock firmware after rooting and maybe even factory reset, just to be sure that I'd nuked any naughty apps. Mobile Odin will allow you to retain root.

It still was NOT easy to use, but I can confirm positively that it can work and in my case did not trip knox. I had to reboot the phone manually at one point because it appeared stuck and I tried a 2nd time. The 2nd time the windows app rebooted the phone and it did get rooted.

People have got root on that version that have flashed a hexed version of it, and those who have the older boot loader have maintained the Knox counter at 0x0 in the process as well.

It does work with MJ7 on VZW. I did Kingo on mine a day or so ago. Works fine. It did take several times to go through Kingo though. IDK why. Kingo never finished all the way through and said rooted. It kept getting stuck on "waiting for device". I eventually downloaded a root checker from the market and it verified root
Also, Knox was not tripped for those who care (I dont)
I just used Kingo on mine and it worked with no issues.

Doesn't trip the Knox. I did it a couple weeks ago after updating to the MJ7 and just checked for the 3rd time today, just incase. It isn't tripped and it isn't going to trip. Kingo worked like a charm, so far. I just hope there is no adverse affects down the road, like my bank account being emptied.
Type of cable used?
For those of you successful in rooting with Kingo, congrats.
Question: Are you using the stock USB 3.0 cable or a USB 2.0 cable?
I've read elsewhere that Kingo had an issue with the stock USB 3.0 cable that came with the N3

Since my N3 can use a 3.0 it is what I use all the time. I do a lot of large videos so it makes life easier with the transfers
So to answer your question I used mt 3.0 for the Kingo
I removed my gmail accounts & any apps that may hold personal information. (Just in case). Pretty much just a brand new out-of-the-box Note 3
I used Kingo 1.1.4.1785. Root process worked flawless. This version of Kingo installs SuperSU 1.65 but I updated via SafeStrap 3.65 to SuperSU 1.75.
First thing I did was run a backup of my stock using SafeStrap (Thanks Hashcode0f!) Took about 25 minutes with compression enabled. Looking forward to Rom-ing in those SS slots!

Hey guys.
I recently got my new Note 3 (N9005, unlocked, no carrier) and upgraded it to the latest MJ7 FW. Now when I started to look for ways to root it, without triggering that KNOX counter, I couldn't find any clear info on it. Is it possible on the latest MJ7? If it is, how? Have anyone tried it?
Oh, just to make it clear - I'm aware of that "Root De La Vega" but first couldn't find working link to the scripts and second I couldn't find any info about whether it triggers the KNOX counter on MJ7 FW?
No that is not possible yet, because you are on the 'new' bootloader now, which prevents the RDLV method. I read that also kingo and vroot triggered knox. Sorry man, but for now it's better to wait for some smart developer to come up with a solution...
And going back to older FW is not an option? I mean downloading old FW from sammobile and using Odin dropping this older FW?

Downgrade isn't possible. U'll end up with boot loops if you try.
If u want root without triggering knox, then you'll have to wait until another exploit is found.

I tried kingo and vroot on my Note 3 (SM-9005, Firmware version MJ7). They both failed to root the device. But the KNOX remained 0x00, meaning that the warranty was still valid.
So, what do u mean by ' I read that also kingo and vroot triggered knox.' Does it apply to MJ7? Or did someone succeed rooting the Note 3 with Firmware version MJ7 and end with voiding the KNOX warranty (0x01)?

There is NO WAY at the moment to root MJ7 without triggering Knox... Period...
If you needed root you should've rooted it before update to MJ7 and then updated with Mobile ODIN Pro...But that ship hasn't only sailed, its been hit by an iceberg and sunk....
Thx anyway, I have to wait before new approaches are revealed since I'd like to keep the KNOX flag 0x00.

I have a N900W8 (Canadian Note 3) which is on 4.3 Jelly Bean.
It was rooted, tried to update to the OTA 4.4.2 and was denied with a "custom" error.
So I used SuperSU full unroot option, still custom system status, cannot upgrade.
I have downloaded 4.3 and 4.4.2 stock firmwares that correlate with my CSC from sam-mobile, my question:
If I use Odin 3.09 to install the 4.3 firmware again to get back to stock, will this trip Knox? Also I am assuming if it will not I would be ok to upload the 4.4.2 firmware directly after as well, via Odin 3.09?
Let me know if you can, really itching to do this, will not do it blindly however. Need an answer from another member before I go ahead.
I hate Knox so much, last Samsung phone for sure. Stuck with it now however, I had no idea about Knox, had I known I would have most likely kept the Nexus 5 I traded for this beast,

I actually have major flashlighting on the left side of my screen. Only visible with white is anywhere BUT the left side of the screen (Best way I can explain it). Anyone know if Samsung will repair this?
Not interested in defective hardware, it's obvious this Note 3 is a one off and needs a new screen. Hoping Samsung is not going to deny me.
Just need to pick up my replacement HTC One on my actual plan (Bought this one straight up, HTC One I had was lost, have insurance.).
REALLY would like to know about the flash counter before I send this off. It has been rooted with Root De La Whatever it is (LOL) then unrooted via SuperSU, then I Odin'd the 4.4.2 update. There was a checkbox ticked called "F.Reset Time", is that it?

Hi all
I have just rooted P605 4.3 BMJ9 with TOWELROOT by Geohot, Note is rooted and Knox is 0x0. Root problem solved. It was released today for S5. According to Geohot, it should work for several android phones. I have not tested it on 4.4.2 but it's likely to work. I will use Mobile Odin pro to update firmware to 4.4.2 and then flash bootloader separately just in case.
PS: I was on 4.4.2 NEE but downgraded to 4.3 NEE and then back to my region BMJ9 BTU.
