Flashed the wrong Kernel on my I9505, URGENT help needed. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've rushed into trying to root my Galaxy S4, but used the wrong process. I have a GT I9505 and used the SCH-I545 pre-release kernel making it stick after the samsung screen.
It has a blue light in top corner, I've removed battery and put it back in and when I try to turn it on in top left it says;
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set warranty bit: kernel
Please help! At this point I would like to get my phone back to normal or root it properly. Thanks

Boot into recovery and Flash the KToonsez kernel then restart and you should be good to go!

I'm an idiot. I had access to recovery but now something has happened and it says;
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
Can I still flash using what you said?
I'm not sure if I'm on 4.3 or if I'm jelly bean or Kitkat. Kitkat isn't released generally is it? Cause I'm pretty sure I'm 4.2.
Those kernels can be flashed using Odin? Also can they be flashed on a non-rooted device?
It comes up FAIL(AUTH) on Odin when I try to do it.
OK!
Progress, I managed to install a root kernel and now I can get into download and recovery mode!
I just need the correct download and I'm hoping I can fix this!

As said in your other posts head over to Sammobile.com and search the correct firmware for UK and flash it with odin 3.09.

I've flashed it mate.
Now it's saying the keyboard isn't working every 2 seconds and I can't get WIFI!
Any help on this??

Which firmware did you had before flashing and what firmware did you flash now?
Try to flash It again and before flashing wipe cache and do a factory reset. Untick auto reboot and after pass remove battery and restart into recovery. Wipe cache, factory reset and reboot.

I'm unsure what firmware I had before flashing. This is my problem.
I can't seem to get into recovery mode now! Just goes back to an empty battery symbol. Can I wipe cache while phone is on, just application cache yeah?
Not sure where to find firmware either, total noob here.

Thank you. I'll do that. I don't think it's branded but I'm unsure! What's best to do if I'm unsure? It voids warranty if I chose the normal one and It's branded right?
I'm trying what you said now, but i'll also put that on download.
Much appreciated!
From where I am I can fix my phone right?
Downloading UK 4.3 most recent. 1 hour or so to download. HOPEFULLY that will flash!

If you are on the 4.3 Bootloader you already voided your warranty by flashing a different kernel.
If you had a branded phone you would have had apps related to Vodafone straight out of the box. So did you? If not your phone is unbranded.
I would flash the unbranded version. Just because I wouldn't want to have all that bloatware on my phone

Is there any way to fix the voided warranty? I have an insurance where if I break my phone I get a brand new one, might just drop 300kg weight on a barbell on it lol...

You think the correct firmware will get rid of the keyboard error?

No there is not. What I suggest is: download the official firmware of your region I would download the unbranded one and flash it. Once you've done that enjoy your phone. If anything goes wrong and you really don't know how to solve trow it of the big Ben and let your insurance know you've lost your phone.
Ore just ship it to me

No cover for loss. Only damage. But they give me a new phone there and then for 50 bucks if I break. Gonna need to run a tank over it lol
Could there be permanent damage meaning it can't be fixed? or pretty good sign I can get it on and reinstall firmwares

No its pretty hard to brick a phone. Certainly not by flashing official firmware MENTED for your phone trough odin. If you flash the correct firmware for your phone u should be alright.

I've downloaded the correct one. And I tried to load the MD5 file into Odin, but it just hangs and doesn't do anything? I read somewhere to take the MD5 extension out leaving it as a TAR file, I'm using 307

No wifi and calls crashing after flash

Hi there,
a mate gave me his i9505 which he had "bricked", I'm not sure what he did exactly but he was trying to root it and was flashing things to it.
I got it into download mode with my little download dongle and i flashed a stock firmware onto it. I got the firmware from the shell of my Z3X box.
but now when i try to turn on wifi it wont turn on and when you try dial a number the phone crashes.
I think i may need the separate firmware files for flashing eg: phone, modem, pda, csc etc....
but these are very hard to get, every time i download a firmware for this model it's just one PDA file.
anyone shed any light on this or know where i can get the individual files?
thanks

I would try flashing TWRP onto it using PDA.
Then flash the bootloader from https://my.pcloud.com/#page=publink&code=XZNd9Z0r02nWGjnxJq0XlD8UTmzjJfnqzk
and the modem from https://my.pcloud.com/#page=publink&code=XZad9ZwQESjS2rxwQjCYJvOVqePkGCrzPX
I would then go to recovery mode and from TWRP install http://www.foxhoundrom.net/ this ROM.
That should work I think.
I had the problem with the phone crashing on calls so I started everything again by flashing the bootloader, Modem then install a different ROM. everything was fixed

What android version are you on? You've just flashed a 4.4.2 modem and bootloader, so if you're on android 4.3 it's normal that wifi won't work. You can probably fix this by installing a NA5 based rom or 4.4.2 stock rom.

I just rooted my friend's phone and flash the bootloader and modem.
After booting up WIFI won't turn on.
This is normal and was meantioned from the above post.
Just flash the rom to omega, Foxhound or Echo and everything should work fine.

Yea i think thats the problem, so you just have to flash a 4.4.2 rom now. Once you have installed a 4.4 or 4.3 bootloader you can't back to 4.2, because than you will brick it

Thanks, I flashed the 4.4.2 from the "mega" link you provided a few posts up and when i extracted that one, it had all the individual files like the AP the Modem, the bootloader and the csc, etc....
so i loaded them all into the version of Odin that came in the zip file
it worked!!
I now have a fully functioning S4 again, the wifi is working and everything.
one slight problem
when my mate gave me this phone, he said it had 4.3 on it.
i have downloaded 4.3 from sammobile.com but it's just one PDA file, can i just flash that to update ?

Odin failed

Hi,
I bought a new S5 for my girlfriend who is in love with Samsung. The phone is an unlocked G900F coming from a UK dealer. After first boot I checked the software status and the phone installed an update. Now it has G900FXXU1ANCE G900FVFG1ANC6 on.
Since I wanted to install all her previous stuff from her old S3 I rooted the phone and installed twrp 2.7. After backing up the EFS partition and making a nandroid backup I tried to install the latest Vodafone firmware because it is her provider.
But Odin fails when flashing hidden.ext4. It might be important that after the FAIL message the phone cannot boot again, however, when I install twrp again, it boots into system with no changes. I tried different PC, different version of ODIN, reinstalled the drivers and with and without SIM and SD Card.
Could somebody help me? Am I trying to install and older firmware? I had no luck with Kies3 as well (tried recover the phone) because Kies lost the connection to the phone when I choose emergency recovery.
Many thanks in advance.
I think there are small differences between the firmwares. I have an international g900f and tried to install the latest firmware from T-Mobile France. I got the same error. Then I installed the open Netherlands firmware and had no error

Just extract the downloaded file once with 7-zip (or similar software) and you`ll see a MD5 file. Load that file in the AP window of Odin 3.09 and flash it with your phone in downloadmode (enable usb debugging and terminate Kies in windows task manager first). A data factory reset afterwards is adviced.
BTW you need the PC Odin version and not Mobile Odin Pro. Link http://odindownload.com/ Odin 3.09

Am i right in thinking that to get a modem / baseband you have to download the entire firmware and then extract the file? Is it ready to flash? Does something need to be done to it?
Any help would be great, many thanks.
I have done a fair bit of searching but haven't found much, I only started looking as the one i'm currently using has poor performance and i've noticed a knock on effect on the battery too.
Thanks.

WIFI Disabled after trying to root

Hi guys, im from Argentina, i tried to root my S7 edge SM-G935F made in vietnam using CF-Auto-Root with Odin following a tutorial in youtube (big mistake), when i finished, the Wifi icon turned grey like it was disabled. I cant turn it on (obviously cant find any Wifi networks because its off).
I tried doing a hard reset but the problem continues. The phone was working perfect. I downloaded root checker after trying to root but says "Root access is not properly installed on this device" , so totally fail :good:
What should i do? What ROM can i flash? and how? Here is my actual software:
Android version: 7.0
Baseband version: G935FXXU1DQB1
Kernel version: 3.18.14-10422490
Build number: NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQB7
Thanks

First things first, flash official firmware via odin, then try rooting again and choose Any touchwiz rom from xda (cause aosp is not really stable as there's no source code released)
How to flash firmware via odin
Do some research on google (at least it's how you become pro [emoji6] )
Cheers mate

yes, but try to flash the one for your country as the csc has the codes need to have your phone working optimally with your provider.
Other countries will work but not 100 %

updato.com, go to the firmware section, type in your modelnumber and search for the most recent update for your country.
