A few days ago I flashed a 4.4 KK rom on my sprint s4. Didn't like the bugs so I restored my nan backup. Since then when I reboot my phone it goes to black right after the Samsung 4g logo and nothing else happens. I can boot into recovery and have tried flashing thru recovery and odin to no avail. I have tried flashing jflterspr_mja_rooted_deodexed and have tried flashing jflterspr_mkz_stock02
What else can I try?
Thanks for your help.

I have a big problem with my new I9505.
Today I flashed new CWM 6.0.3.6 and 4.3 GE Jamal Rom. After I flashed some mods for testing.
Then I wanted to install a clean rom, I formated in CWM every point (system, data, cache, sdcard, dalvik and dont know what else).
After I flashed again 4.3, now it do not boot. Stuck at Google boot animation.
I thought it will be fixed if I flash the stock rom via Odin (only PDA with I9505XXUBMGA_I9505OXABMGA_I9505XXUBMGA_HOME.tar.md5).
But now I stuck at Samsung Boot animation.
It is possible to boot into Recovery and Download mode.
Whats happening?
I hope somebody can help me.
Big thanks.

Try to get into recovery and wipe both caches and reboot. If that doesn`t work also do a data factory reset. Don`t you have a nandroid backup to fall on back too?
My nand backup is corrupt :/

Just reflash the rom again with a full wipe and after the flash wipe both caches and reboot.
Okay I figure out my nand backup is not corrupt..
If I select backup in cwm it restore system but it cant mount data.
I think the mistake is here.. /data do not exist?

I would return to stock to get the phone running again. so:
1. Go to recovery and wipe the caches and do a data factory reset and format system.
2. Pull the battery and go into downloadmode
3. Flash a stock rom with Odin 3.04
4. Reboot, setup the phone and reroot.

I had exactly the same issue, except whilst i was reflashing my nandroid the phone shut down, formatted everything as one normally would using philz recovery, tried again and it failed.
Now i cannot even gain access to recovery it stays on "loading recovery" only option i suppose is to reflash stock via odin.

I've also experienced this on my gpe and it seems going back to stock is the best solution for doing the factory reset. I've tried doing the factory reset with both team win recovery and cwm.

UPDATE
I actually was able to get into the recovery at like the 10th attempt. Thank you so much for your directions! Imma hit thanks!
Hey, I seem to have gotten myself into a pickle. Here's what happened: I wanted to do an update to Cyanogenmod 10.2, so I downloaded the ROM and gapps. I wiped dalvik, cache, and system and flashed the ROM. When I tried to flash the gapps Clockwork Mod said it was corrupt. No problem, turned the phone off, pulled micro usb card and put the gapps on that. The only problem is now I can't boot into recovery at all, with the Power+down option and ROM Manager crashes when I try to open it. So the problem is that I can't boot into recovery and I can't reinstall ROM Manager because I don't have gapps. Titanium Backup is also having problems and can't get root access. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
I'd Odin back to stock and start over.

How do I do that? Will I be able to since I had CyanogenMod 10.1 on before I tried to update?
Also, It would be better if I could just reflash a custom recovery, is there any way to do that?

Hey all,
Just rooted my Galaxy S4 yesterday on AT&T. Rooted it using tLoki + TWRP + Motochopper CASUAL method. I have TWRP recovery installed and can get to that no problem. I have the following build of Cyanogen flashed:
cm_jflteatt-userdebug 4.3 JLS36G f65925b07a test-keys
CyanogenMod version:
10.2-2013007-NIGHTLY-jflteatt
Baseband: I337UCUAMDL
Phone works flawlessly after the flash, but as soon as I power off or reboot, it just hangs at the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen and doesn't do anything. Only way out is to boot into recovery wipe and re-flash the Cyanogen ROM.
Any thoughts? I don't even know where to start...

This has been an issue on other devices. Flashing with cwm seems to have consistently worked. Once you get it up and running you can flash back to twrp for your nandroids. I've had to do this on my i727.

This is already a known issue for Cyanogenmod 10.1 and 10.2. Using CWM will help it a little bit, but will still occur. There is no fix.

Get a cwm zip file and flash it like you would a rom but don't do any wipes. It'll flash on top of twrp and replace it. Do the same thing to go back to twrp.

Just download ROM Manager and flash CWM.
Which ROMs have you tried so far? Are they based off of CM?
Try to clear the delvik cache and the cache. I believe it will boot normal then

No, they're not all based off of CWM.
The last few I tried were BeanStalk and Task650 AOKP. The Task650AOKP booted up fine the first time, I did a reboot and then it was permanently stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen, even after I cleared cache's and factory reset with a re-flash. I tried that several times and still couldn'y get back in, so luckily I had a backup of my original rooted config and that booted up.
I did install rom manger just now and flashed cwm recovery...just afraid to reboot..haha. I wish I knew what the problem could be here...
Hey guys, I am not new to this scene and have been running, flashing, roms since the S2. Today I ran into a major problem I cant seem to fix. I am running TWRP 2.5.0.2, always have for about 4 months with no issues. Today I did a complete Titanium Backup + recovery backup of my rom. After that I wiped for a fresh new rom install and noticed the rom I placed onto my internal storage is not there (it was def there in its own folder but through TWRP its not there). No biggie right? Just mount USB storage and put it somewhere else that TWRP can get to, but then USB wont mount on Windows now. No biggie right? Ill just restore the rom, put it in another directory, then wipe and reflash. However none of my backups are showing up when I hit restore, I had like 3 backups and everything is gone.
At this point what do I do? I tried everything to mount usb from recovery but windows wont take it (win 7). Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Nevermind guys I was able to get around it by putting the SD card from my S4 into the S2 and putting the rom files into another location. Once that was done placed it back into the S4, booted into recovery and flashed it. (phew!)

Did you do an internal 'sd card'/media data wipe?
Best bet would be to Odin back to stock and start from scratch:

Then from there just use casual to root and install TWRP in one easy step and you're back:

I know what I did, I was using Touchwiz and instead of doing a regular wipe I did a format and input "YES". I heard TW has major issues with this and thus screwed me up completely.

Sean, I flashed from Odin like 3 times, how can I install TWRP if I cant get the phone to load up (boot loop)- Ill read up on casual. Thanks.

Did you do a factory reset in the stock recovery after Odin? That'll usually get you past the boot loop.
Should I ODIN with the RE-Partition Option?
Just Odined again and no dice. I booted into stock recovery and noticed after wiping factory I get "Can't open /efs/log/boot_cause" which pointed me to this fix someone on the Galaxy note forum said they did and it worked but I dont understand the steps, need some elaboration.

Yep did that mulitple times, also did wipe cache partition in the same stock recovery. I get to the Samsung logo where the blue halo spins around the name, then it freezes there and reboots.
Hmm, never had to mess with EFS stuff on our phones before.
Did you make a backup ever in TWRP by chance?
Sorry if you tried the stock recovery options there's not much more I'm familiar with.
The good news is since you were able to Odin and get 3e back, you are technically warrantied again and could work with AT&T to get a new phone since your phone just stopped working out of the blue one day

Try flashing using cwm. It'll probably work fine. Then you can go back to twrp. That's worked on other devices. Seems one you flash it once with cwm then twrp works from that point forward. Idk why

I tried flashing with a PIT file I found online but it fails through ODIN everytime. I tried on multiple versions of ODIN as well. I also cant seem to find readily available PIT files to test as well, (perhaps the one I used does not work). Also I did try to flash a CWM through ODIN but failed, but again there isnt anything that I have read that says "hey you can do this that way and it will work".
From what I understand I need to be rooted to install CWM or TWRP, and since I unrooted to try and fix the problem I cannot root myself through conventional methods. Everything I found online requires the phone to completely start up. (to the menu screen etc)
What stock firmware are you flashing with odin? I get firmware from sammobile.com. since you had a custom recovery I'm guessing you where on mdl firmware to start with.

Ive only flashed using official Samsung firmware from sammobile.com I tried both that are available for SGH-I337 with the PIT file as well and no dice.

You sound like you really don't know what you're mate.
I think the best advice anyone can give you is to put your phone down and read some more.
If you have successfully flashed CWM then all you need to do is flash a ROM of your choice then wipe data / factory reset.
Also before you even think about flashing anything to your phone you NEED to back up your EFS partition.

Just go back into recovery & try flashing again once you get status 7 go back & second line from bottom where you chose zip you will see "allow update old binary" tick the box if not ticked or until if it's selected then select zip to flash & it'll go straight through
