So a buddy of mine gave me an OTG cable and I wanted to hook my PS3 controller to it, to try out some racing games. I downloaded Need For Speed Most Wanted but the settings don't seem to allow using anything except a "moda" controller or the phone. My buddy said it worked for him to play on his HTC One but I'm not sure what game he used. So my question is, will this work on the G2, and the issue is just game related?

I don't think you can use a ps3 controller on your phone with a cord. I do know that you can use Bluetooth with another app, it requires a little work and if you resync it with the ps3 again you'll have to do it again. Your buddy may have used an app to make it work. The MOGA controller is Bluetooth only by the way.
In short, it should work with the G2 it just needs an app to be the "middle man" between the controller and the game.

Sixaxis Controller is the app you want to use to pair your controller with your phone.
However, I have not been able to get it to work on my VS980. It works just fine on my Nexus 7 2012.

I wasn't interested in using bluetooth but thanks anyways.

I'm running stock 4.010.38 right now and I've tried XBOX 360 remotes and a Generic USB Gamepad but I can't get it to work.
ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to use it for Snes and N64oid emulator.
Cheers!
Edit: Please for those who are successful and unsuccessful with this, post your builds and your settings and gamepads! This way we can see whats what.
Edit: Progress (DEV)Richardtrips kernel 2.3 and Thors kernel they have generic USB gamepad support enabled! Awesome!
I'm running rooted stock and was able to get something from a final fantasy 14 gamepad. Gameboid couldn't detect some of the buttons, so it may be a limitation of the driver.

Have a old USB saitek 6 button - plugged it in, works fine. Only can use 4/6 buttons but it seems to work fine, tested with a snes emulator, using 4.010.04 stock.
My wired 360 controller worked on 3.0. I haven't tried since updating to 3.1 since no games use it.

Guys dont forget to post your build number
I'm useing the new Virtuous XooM v1.1.2 HC 3.2 rom and my a500 works just fine with my ps3 controller hooked up through usb
Pretty sure all 3.1 firmwares sould work with xbox , some USB and ps3 controllers the main issue is that you can only use them in some apps like the emulators.
you can not controll eg the browsers with them. and dont think games like NFS work ether.
4.010.40, N64Droid, ps3 = yes, usb = yes
works great
...running 3.1 stock rooted, use the honeyvillian rom too. Logitech wired gamepad works great on nesoid emulator
4.010.11 com Gen 2. Wired 360 controller is working with cordy, snes9x, and n64oid. For cordy, no setup required. For the emulators, go to the button setup, select a button, then push a button on the controller
3.1 with the Picasso mod.
WiiMote works great, even the motion works.
Had to download an app from the market, WiiMote Something.
Not sure if the ubs remotes are the same, but I have to change my keyboard input, from stock to Game Pad, then map them in the games.
Unable to get the Xbox controller on mine to work.
It isn't an official MS one, its called "After Glow" which connects via a USB cord. When I plug it in the light flashes on the Xbox symbol but have not been able to remap it in Snes9x or any other emulator i have tried.
Build: Acer_A500_4.010.40_COM_GEN1
Tempted to pick up a Logitech Dual Action Game pad as I can get one cheap and heard that it does work, anyone else have experience with this model?
*edit* Borrowed my mates official Microsoft Xbox USB controller and it worked fine so looks like I was just having an issue with the generic brand, shouldn't be surprised really.

Its working perfect for me im using a generic ps3 look-alike.
I think that generics should all work because it basically acts as an outside navigation tool like a mouse and you can move around the Honeycomb UI as soon as you plug it in the/USB port.
Will upload a picture of my remote later.

Theoretically you should be able to navigate the entire UI using the gamepad so I dont think that is strange behaviour.
Nothing to worry about.

Yes, USB gamepads are supported. Not 100% sure about analog thumbpads for psx playing though. Try it

why bother using a wired joystick when you can get a wireless joystick at just few bucks more..
i have PS3 wireless joystick and installed sixaxis contoller app... been happy and no problem so far
Those of you using an xbox controller hardwired..
my left analogue stick works but not the right one. also the top L+R buttons work but not the bottom ones..
do you guys have the same issues??
Also..
Those using the PS3 controller.. have you noticed that any buttons arent responding? might invest in a PS3 controller if they all work correctly.
thanks in advance.
I've bought this app on the market
(Damn, cannot post links...)
it's called 'USB/BT Joystick Center'
It's working perfectly to me...
I've tested 3 generic usb joysticks and all of them worked.
You can create the USB driver based on the bits input of the device.
really nice, and no root is needed.

Hey rafinhasantana,
I bought USB/BT JOY center too but i was afraid to install it. check out the permissions on that thing. Says it can record passwords you enter in another application. I know its probably needed to record button actions etc... but i was a little concerned.
Do you have any issues with it thus far? Anyone else use this????

Hi!
Well i've had no problems with that.. It works like an alternative input method, like in the Wii controller input, but you're not gonna use to type your passwords around. I've contacted the developer about the deadzone for sticks and he hass implemented that...
It's working fine for me, and since I don't use the tablet for banking I'm not THAT worried about passwords on it at all...

I just noticed the Six Axis app requires root... shucks.
Those SixAxis Dual Shock controllers... the ones listed as wireless still have the mini USB connection on the back. Is that ONLY for charging, or can those be hooked up via USB to the tablet for use as well?

Im also thinkimg of getting a set or paiir of ps3 controller. Im kinda leaning towards the bluetooth wireless sixaxis. But before i pull the trigger, can anyone plz confirm that you can connect two wiireless sixaxis controllers simultaneously for 2-player mode in some games? If not, can the wired controllers do it? Tia
Anyone know if PlayStation One (dual shock) controllers can work properly?
I have one hooked up via an OTG cable and a USB conversion hub (to plug the controller into) and can only seen to get the analogue sick to work on FPse. The others buttons (other than the D-pad and right analogue stick) seem to be working in the joycentre but I am not sure how to get them to work outside it, out how to tell the joycentre what physical buttons the presses relate to. Does anyone know if a tutorial video in English?

I have been following various threads on the Onlivefans.com forum about using an Android device to play Onlive games and mapping hardware buttons to software controls. None are perfect and do not play the games I would like. Now the Sony Tablet S is compatible with Onlive using a real PS3 controller. The Sony Tablet S is a Playstation Certified tablet. What would I have to modify on my Nook Color to make it think it is a Tablet S? I already have Sixaxis Controller app to allow bluetooth connectivity to my PS3 controller and it works great for all my emulators. I am really hoping this will let me avoid a $50 purchase of Onlive's official Universal Controller.
Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance.
could you clarify what you mean when you say bluetooth works fine? I was under the impression that book's bt radio was too weak to even keyboard properly?
there are apps on market that allow you to spoof other devices but if it is a hardware or driver limitation you might be able to usb joystick it
The bluetooth has worked great with my PS3 controller. I have used it up to 3 feet away with no issue. I have not tried to use two controllers at once but it seems technically possible.
I guess my real question is, does anyone have a build.prop from a Sony Tablet S and I will try asking in one of those forums.
The PS3 controller works a little bit while using OnLive but they do not allow you to map keys. They want you to use their controller only.

The sixaxis app says it lets you connect four controller but the nook apparently only recognizes one at a time.
I could have sworn when I had my Samsung S2 I would plug in an xbox controller via usb through a USB OTG cable and it would just work in games. This isn't happening with my Verizon LG G2 that I thought supports USB OTG. When I plug in a media card reader for example I actually see a popup like something is working. Nothing pops up when I plug in the xbox controller.
Anyone get a gamepad to work or have suggestions?

I'm on Moga and Moga Pro Bluetooth controllers! Don't have a OTG cable. I did get a slimport cable though, and let me tell you, it is sweet playing Modern Combat 4 in 720p on my projector (don't have a 1080p projector) with a wireless controller ON A PHONE!
so you love the Moga? I guess I just figured since I had an xbox controller I'd save the money and only have to worry about battery life on the phone and not the controller. Also the xbox controller is awesome. What to do.... ugh.
Anyone else with gamepad setups they want to share? I guess I'll end up pulling the trigger soon if I can't resolve this. My gaming impatience will get the best of me : )

I like the Mogas but they Feel similar to a 360.
Personally I think you can't get any better then a PS3 controller. It will work Wired out of the box (haven't tried on the G2) and also wirelessly through bluetooth with the rooted sixaxis app.
The PS3, I think, is a much better controller because of the separated DPad that becomes very very handy in retro gaming. Try playing SNES Mario World with a Moga or 360 and you'll hate it. I currently have 2 Ouya BT Controllers, a 360 Controller w/ Wireless Sync USB, and a PS3 controller.
I'm also curious if the PS4 was ever successfully paired to Android yet. The PS4 is similar to my Ouya Controller in a sense that it has the touchpad built in, which makes it very handy for navigating Android apps on a TV that aren't 100% gamepad compatible.
For gamepads to work, they need the specific .KO file that has the profiles. LG may not have included it. Custom roms should work out of the box though.

Is that possible to include it ?
No answer from LG. I'm furious ! A so good phone and no way to play with a wired controller. I was thinking that the ability was included diectly inside android. Why LG did extract this ability ? Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa I'm not saying they excluded it, but probably did... or goofed it up somehow.
Just do Bluetooth. Wired controllers don't work well anyway.
Are you sure it isn't working? You usually are required to download an app from the play store to really start utilizing the controllers for gamplay.
You can also just root and grab an app to restore the .ko file.

Hi
New here and to the Mojo. Haven't got one yet but am considering. Does anyone know if you can use an X-arcade controller with the Mojo? If yes, is it hard to set up? Do I have to side load anything or root the device?
Any help would be great.
Thanks,

Hi,
Well I don't have one, but I have used USB controllers just fine.
I would check if the MOJO's kernel version (2.4 or 2.6 from memory) support the controller and if it does.. there is a good chance it will work fine.
I doubt it would need an app for using the controller, if the game/emu lets you map/configure your controller then you wouldn't have a problem.
I would still recommend rooting in any case.
I'm not sure which X arcade controller you have, but from the X Arcade website it says that the joystick acts like a keyboard and the trackball acts as a mouse. It also says it's 100% compatible with any operating system. Based on this it should be recognized on the MOJO. It did say that you need two USB connections, one for the joystick and one for the trackball. The MOJO has only a 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports, so keep that in mind. Until Kit Kat comes out, you need to have the bluetooth dongle in the MOJO for their controller to work.
On a side note, on the Madcatz website they have a 20% off code for the MOJO until July 1st, so you could save 40 bucks on it now. I really like the MOJO. It has a few issues, but for gaming on it's been awesome. Reliving some of my old Playstation games atm on the MOJO with FPSE emulator and works great.
I've barely used my mojo as I haven't got my hands an a male to male yet . But have you tried using something like USB/BT joystick centre?
