is it just me or is the market running very slow in froyo?
This message was deleted by its author
any ideas why?
Check your logs, it's the usual socket timeout issues, like when you switch for a new Android phone... it should disappear very soon (I had it for an hour earlier)
it was working for me, but now things are downloading and not installing... they just sit there at 100%...
I can't say I notice Market being slow but this is really pissing me off... I bought bTunes and a couple other apps and Market has them marked as Buy as if I don't own them.
WTF.
I'm getting that too, bTunes says Buy, but a lot of other protected apps just don't show up! Is this happening for everyone?

Good call... MLB At Bat is MIA. Hopefully this is a quick fix for the Market crew. I think I should shoot them an email to make them aware.
Protected apps like m bank´s are disent from this version of the Marquet...
That´s my only problem with this awesome 2.2 update.
At a guess most of them are probably to do with the new apps2SD, no doubt when devs start updating them with the new move to SD tags we still start seeing them again
Going to give it a few days before I complain about not having some paid apps (bTunes) though, hopefully thats an easy fix!
really slow
I also see the market is really really slow, I wonder if 2.2 is going somewhere else for data and that source was not ready for everyone to jump on the unconventional means of getting 2.2 up; also, some apps I had are not available and do not come up in searching the market.
Edit: Almost uncanny, but after pressing submit post, both problems disappeared and the market is now the fastest I have ever experienced. Installing and browsing at super speed. No reboot, or anything and my market is normal. Hope it works itself for others so fast
same here some apps arnt there anymore. it happened when the desire came out, protected apps wouldnt show. am sure they had to do an update on the phone to get it working.
i had same problem when start it for the 1st time after flashing yesterday, problem went away after a couple of reboot, now everything is incredibly fast.
Slow!? Lol you must be kidding me.... i have been using Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 for quite awhile and i had to wait, hang on... 5 minutes everytime downloading 1 app.
Here on Froyo, its just instant!
Froyo FTW.
I'ts a common issue it will fix himself (don't ask me how). I had this problem to and one day it fixed itself. This was also with 2.1.
This problems starts when you make a fresh start. There was a silent update for the market and if you have this update market is working fast enough else you have to be patient and wait till you get the update (again).
If you didn't make a fresh start and updated you won't be seeing this slowness of the market.
I bought my wife a new Epic 4G and she has been having problems downloading from the Marketplace. It seems to be a 3G,4G problem. Even Wifi doesn't start right away, yet does seem faster starting than 3g/4g. It does finally work after about 10 minutes. I know it is a phone problem, not a 3G/4g or Wifi problem, because I have an EVO, and at the same time downloading from the market with the EPIC, the EVO has no problems at all. I do notice once it has downloaded the first item, it seems fine for the rest of the day. The 3g was active before my wife went to the Market to download stuff. She had already received her email, so the connection was there.
Is anyone else having problems downloading from the Marketplace on 3G/4G or even wifi? If so, how do I fix the problem. I do have the latest update installed and it still didn't fix the problem.
The Epic seems to have some issue with logging into Gtalk randomly. I have experienced downloads that wouldn't start myself. Simply opening gtalk will log you in (most of the time) and the download will start almost instantly.

Missing Apps
Same issue here. Many Paid and free apps are missing. Bad deal since I need the phone for work and now I can't get my TouchDown Exchange Client working because it lost the key I paid for on the Market

For me it is not the issue where the download fails to start (though I have seen that too). This issue is that the apps are "not found" on the market place.
NOTE: I can see the apps from my EVO just fine, just not on the EPIC.
Evo is on froyo isn't it? Mabye they are protected apps and won't been seen unless you are running a phone with Froyo. Unless google hasnt registered I18 as a approved build yet.

Interesting... I notice that if I install(ed) a ROM (in this case Epic_Experience_v1.1.3) the apps are missing.
If I wipe the phone and restore a nandroid from a few days ago the apps show up.
Not sure what that means, but at least I can get back to using my email. Still learning all this ROM, Root, Kernel stuff.

I concur with these findings. I'm running Epic Experience 1.1.3 and if I search Market I can _not_ see such popular FREE apps such as Fandango, Where and Google Places Directory.
No idea why..

There have been several threads about this issue. Google has to take action in the Market to recognize the DI18 firmware as legitimate. (Perhaps Sprint has to take action to goose Google into taking action.)
This same problem occurred for several days after the last update.
See this post earlier at xda.
yeah this is pissing me off considering it all worked just a day ago...
I had my Epic rooted ever since I got it....the last few days it got sluggish and got bricked. I got it back to stock tonight and I can't upload apps either. I'm on the version ending in "7" when I went back to stock...if anyone can offer tips that is reading this would be greatly appreciated!!!
im getting annoyed by this GTalk sign in issue... not only I use gtalk alot but also market won't work without it.
I noticed I get signed off and loose connection almost every time I make/receive a call. Or sometimes just randomly.
Hey have you tried this?? I just did this below....
****UPDATE 4 hours later*******
so after screwing with everything I could possibly (clearing cache, resetting phone, rebooting countless times, etc) I logged out then back in to TALK using my gmail account and VOILA! everything downloaded.
I am on my fourth one (long story -- don't ask). I get this fourth one, everything works fine and dandy for a few hours. Then the same problems that happened to my last one are happening again. Random apps are trying to download and they show up as downloaded "unsuccessfully" and when I try to download apps they are stuck at "Starting download...". I thought this problem on my third Vibrant was caused by me messing around with flashing some custom ROMs, going back to stock, etc. (after the JI6 upgrade via Kies bricked by Vibrant). However, the replacement I just got - one that I have not done anything but rooted - is now having the same problems. Random apps are downloading by themselves only to be downloaded unsuccessfully and I can go longer download any apps from market - they are all stuck at "Starting download...".
So, then I thought maybe it wasn't the Vibrant that is the problem -- maybe it is my sim card. So yesterday I swap out sim cards, and the problems still occur. Maybe it is the JI6 update that is causing problems, or maybe I am just cursed when it comes to the Vibrant but this phone has been nothing but trouble for me since I got it in July...
That said, anyone have any helpful tips on how to get my issue resolved? Otherwise, I am going to call up T-Mobile and move to myTouch HD (when it comes out) or G2 (I really don't want G2 cause of physical keyboard and rootkit).
Sounds like reception problems. It happens every so often to me. Definitely not reason to return the phone unless it happens more often than not. Considering it's your fourth phone...

It isn't reception issues. I have full bars, can surf the Internet, etc. and even tried it on WiFi. There is definitely something wrong. It isn't the sim card (I swapped it out). It isn't my Google account (I tried different ones). It isn't the specific Vibrant I have (I just got an exchange two days ago -- both phones had same problem).
So all I have left is either it is JI6 causing the issue or a rogue app. I just did a factory reset to see if maybe that solves the problem. If it doesn't, well, bye bye Samsung hello HTC.
The chances that both phones would have this obscure market problem is very unlikely. Given that all other data services work well, have you ever considered that maybe it's Google's market servers? Did you sign into your Google account then immediately start to download all of your paid applications while it was syncing all of your contacts and email? Are you over dramatizing the problem? Again, this is your fourth phone...
user error?
Not the phone, it's your location/service. I have issues downloading from market at certain places even with full service also. It's poor data connections I believe.

I think it's user error.

I can't be Market. The downloads are working perfect after a reset that took a mere two minutes. Market up and down in two minutes? I doubt it. The real test is to see if it will continue to work, because it is after a few hours that the problems occur.
Syncing works fine all the time, and market works perfect after the initial setup. It is after a while that it messes up... I don't know whats up.
That said, why would I be over dramatizing the problem? To get pitty on XDA?

Could be JI6 caused some location-only issue? Because I was able to use my Vibrant just fine for 1-1.5 months without this issue. This issue really only showed up for I upgrade to JI6.
@Everyone else: Thanks for the input -- I will be sure to take it into consideration.
rogue app. man I was going nuts when I first got this phone, because randomly it would reboot and go into a boot-loop. after trial and error, I found out is was THE Hero of Sparta HD game from gameloft.
I would reformat and install the basic apps first, then the extras, one by one... to see if you have a bad app. Its the only way I got the the end of my problem.
Stock J16 or a J16 build?
Stock JI6 -- updated via Kies.

I'm On My Fourth Phone And Its Not My Fault.. (This One Works Fine Now)
First One Was Data Issues
Second One Was A Password Lock Error (Hardware Locked As Well)
Third One Was A Phone To PC Error (Unrooted Stock And Not My Fault Phone Turned Off And Turned Back On And It Was Like That)
Fourth One.. All Fine And Dandy
(Erased by the author)
It's your Google account at this point. Swap it out for another!
Hmmmmmmmm
The Google account may be the problem..... but not convinced I think the statement (user error) look in the mirror is more correct. BTW, I always use wifi in updating it is just easier and faster, I would assume that you re doing the same.

yeah. I have the same problem. it seems to be location specific. it sounds dumb but when I'm in the mall area near my house i have all but one bar full 3G connection (and that stays pretty consistent give or take a bar or so) and both market and browser have major issues. if you try a bunch of times it might go through occasionally but for the most part it says I have a great connection but I don't. but when i leave the mall area all is fine again. its a pretty large area about a mile square or so. I also drop calls alot there. its really weird. wifi works fine usually although some public wifi connections have the port you need to download from the market blocked so don't get frustrated if that doesn't work either. internet browsing works fine over wifi though
my wife has the exact same phone and has the exact same problems in that area so I'm pretty sure its not the phone
also oddly I never tried using my phone at the mall before the JI6 update (Which I got OTA not a manual install) so I suppose it could have to do with the update but I cant confirm that.
I can say that my Mytouch 3G worked in the same area just fine (although its been a month or so since I tryed it), so its kinda weird.

A little confusing here since you were able to flash custom roms successfully which is much more harder and dangerous for you and most of us here, AND you can't still figure out how to get the market app working properly? hmm..Not to blame directly on you but your case MUST be very rare.
Let me start at the beginning. Whenever it was the new market was available, I installed it manually (2.2.6?)
It autoupdated itself to 2.2.7 no problems.
Yesterday when I hit Downloads it came back with a server error. Today, when I look through apps, I see they don't even show as installed.
I've cleared cache, cleared data (of Market, Market updater and Download manager) and even uninstalled updates, but nothing helps.
Any ideas?
i'm having the same problem
Having the same issue too here. I thought it might be an issue with marketenabler but seeing that you live in the UK Andy, it cant be marketenabler.
edit: actually im using marketaccess, buts thats irrelevant.
Same issue here, suddenly.
works now!
Same here, tried again like 20 min ago, appears to be fine.
Must have just been a google related issue after all. Good thing I didnt try to reflash to fix it.

Hi guys any1 experience any there stock browser freezing up at times? Keep getting white screen and i have to close it and reopen. Im on ke2. Im just doing general searches nothing with flash content from Google search bar.
I don't think it's happened to me a single time, but then again I don't use it very often...
I used it everyday, already one week, no problem so far

No worries here.
Bit strange then, maybe something with the wi-fi then ,ill have to try a day on 3g instead.tnx for imput
Doesn't happen on WiFi or HSDPA.
No crashes on with the browser here, had it for 12 days now with lots of surfing on both 3G and WiFi.
The only thing that has managed to proper crash my phone was robot unicorn attack
The browser hasn't worked for several hours, and I've restarted the phone several times and also cleared browser settings several times. It simply doesn't load the pages.
Please note that other internet connectivity works fine, e g google maps, market and Firefox (I've made sure it is not cached data).
Dolphin HD has the same problem as the stock browser. Seems very strange, but I guess Dolhin HD uses same Android framework as the stock browser for certain things where Firefox uses their own code.
I've had the phone for 6 days, no problems like this before today (I'm on KE2 since monday).
Does anyone have any solution or similar experience?
All theses tests have been on 3g/HSDA, I'll try wifi later today when I'm back home.

I am with KDJ FW and any browser with flash freezes for me. IS it solved in later FW?
my browser freezes at times too. different websites, different connections.
although I have found rotating the screen unfreezes it.
I was experiencing similar problems but I am now using Opera browser and it is FLYING without any issues
This was happening to me on ke2 also. Usually when I had multiple pages open and trying to go back a page. I stayed on ke2 becuase it gave me the best battery life. It didnt happen often but usually when I was trying to do multiple things at once.
Now im on villian rom 1.4 and dont have that issue since my week of use.
