[Q] Need a quick clarification on KNOX, AOSP and S-View - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all!
I just flashed the SM-N900W8 KitKat update through Odin, and I am still on Knox 0x0. I really want to try out CM11 and see how fast KitKat can fly on the Note 3!
I have gotten confused with the multiple threads for rooting and how to keep Knox 0x0, I'd like a bit of clarification. If I use CF-Root, can I keep 0x0?
Simply put, is it currently possible to flash CM11 on my SM-N900W8 and retain 0x0?
Finally, I have a genuine Samsung S-View cover. Is there some way to emulate the functions of the S-View case on AOSP?
Thanks!

Cf auto root= Knox 0×1

Using CF root will trip KNOX, but also installing a custom ROM (you want CM) will trip it anyway if you managed to root without 0x1
General answer is no though.
You can use Hatdroid S-Vew Pro if you decide to flash CM for your S-View cover though.

Well it can yes, however you still need to be rooted to use it. If you wanna root and keep 0x0 you need to be on MJ1/MJ2

I just pointed that out because I've read a lot of posts saying custom roms can't be installed 0x0. But it's wrong information, yes it can. (For now you just need to have your phone rooted before MJ3 knox 0x0)
See what I quoted about your post. CF-Auto Root will trip Knox, but if he/she find a way to root his/her phone keeping Knox cool, it's also possible to install cunstom rom.
So to OP: CF-Auto Root will trip knox and to install roms while keeping knox 0x0 you need root. So no luck for now.

There isn't many (if any left) that have lower than MJ6/MJ7 with their Notes.

Cm won't work if you have updated to new kk bootloader. You'll have to wait a while till someone figures it out

I have a Telus SM-N900W8, I think it's unlocked? I see in the development forum, there was an update today for CWM for the SM-N900W8 with the KitKat source. Does that mean I can flash that straight from KitKat? Or should I downgrade to 4.3?
SM-N900W8 users are lucky in the fact that we can downgrade to 4.3 with no issues! I've sorta realized I'm going to trip Knox regardless haha. All I want to do now is make sure I don't brick.

You are one of the lucky ones (if yours is the Canadian or Mexican model, the w8 can upgrade and downgrade without any issues). - you can upgrade straight to KK yeah and then if you dislike it and have the said models you can go back to 4.3 without issue

Awesome! The thread I was talking about is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454079 I don't know of you have any advice on how I should proceed with this or not, should I downgrade to 4.3 and flash the cwm update from today for the SM-N900W8, or can it be flashed safely from KK?

I havent rooted yet amd im still on 4.3. Which is the best method to root without tripping? I just tried Kingo and it gave me a prompt about voiding warranty so i didnt go ahead. However, i was told that kingo does it fine with 4.3 and doesn't trip knox. So now i'm left conused :/
Yeah I was gonna try kings but read a bit 1st on there Facebook page they say kit kat 4.4.2 not supported! So gonna have to read up to do it manually fc-auto root looks OK but I need to know before I dive in and go ahead with it!

Just to clarify, you can unroot but you can't reset Knox warranty void to 0x0...
If you are on KK then make sure you use the LATEST cf-autoroot or you will get a soft brick... If you use ODIN 3.09 you put the cf-autoroot file in AP, if you use any lower then put the file in PDA...
Cheers don't suppose you got the fc-auto root link not sure if you can put up a link in here cheers

From what people say. There is an e-fuse for the knox switch. Once you Flash, the switch goes from 0x0 to 0x1. The e-fuse apparently cannot be reset.
But there has been instances where rooting has not toggled the knox switch

Where i live the N comes after the M alfabeticaly so you will get flagged.
URDLV http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498850 :
What devices are supported?
Just about every Samsung device with KNOX! (Excluding Exynos based devices)
Samsung has caught on and has started patching bootloaders, you can still root, but you will trip KNOX.
If you are running MJ4, MJ7, MK1, MK2 or higher you can still root, but you will trip KNOX!

Don't suggest towelroot if your not willing to test it yourself ? That's like asking someone to brick their phone intentionally ?
If you won't do it don't suggest someone to experiment for you

Is downgrade possible?

I have a rooted att s4(sgh-I337) that has been updated to 4.4.2 Is it possible to downgrade to 4.2.2 or 4.3?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
Well if your ok with tripping the Knox flag it can be done. Otherwise no. I accidentally tripped mine trying to just this and now I can install whatever I want. Beware when I downgraded to 4.2.2 I got no WiFi and no sound. There are fixes but none seemed to work for me. Anyway updated back to 4.4 then rooted installed cwm and install tasks aokp 4.4.4. Downgrade is not possible to any versions below KitKat on the sgh i337. The bootloader won't allow it being that its looked. If you try you can potentially brick your device. Best we can do as of now is root and safestrap recovery. Until the devs find an exploit to the bootloader The s5 face the same issues so if they find a fix there well most likely get the same workaround.

Magic? Honestly I'm not sure. Once the Knox flag was tripped Odin allowed the downgrade. Previously it would not. Still tho no WiFi and no sound unfortunately. Even when I installed custom Roms from cwm on 4.2 no WiFi and no sound. I believe it allowed me to flash the bootloader over but I'm not too sure. I will try again and report.

Plus if you flash anything custom, it will trigger the knox counter whichvoids warranty.

Bumping not allowed.
Plus if you flash anything custom, it will trigger the knox counter whichvoids warranty.
All I can say is, if you dont care about warranty, flash ozcan v5.2 or hassan rom.
If you care about warranty, wait

Well if you can see that method is for i9505. Towelroot wont work with an i9500.
So no towelroot, no root access, no root acces, no mobile odin, no mobile odin, no flashing thus ultimately no i9505 custom rom method.
Plus those files are specifically for i9505.
And you cannot flash a i9505 kernel on i9500

Well if that worked i9500 wouldve been equally popular as compared to its brother i9505.
There is minimal developement because of the restrictions and limitations on our "octa-core"
