Currently not receiving any Gmail notifications. All sync/notification settings seem to be correct. Any ideas? Is there a way to uninstall/reinstall?

If it's listed in your play store app list, you can uninstall and reinstall.

ok so this started this past week. I get an email and I read and delete it on my phone. later on, I go back in the gmail app and in the top left corner by "inbox" it says I have a new email, however I don't actually have a new email...when I check the gmail mobile site it shows the same email I read and deleted earlier, as unread and not deleted...
does anyone else experience this/know what I can do to fix it?

uninstall the app and reinstall it from the market.
well I can't uninstall it fully (at least not from the market) but I uninstalled updates and then updated so I'll see how that goes

The same thing has happened to me. I'm on cm7 nightly 11.

Make sure your syncing is on. I had this problem, turned on background syncing and it was fixed. Hope that helps.
that was the first thing I checked haha. I have background data and auto sync both enabled though.

Happens to me all the time. I use gmail unread widget to view only unread mail to find the offending message

ADB / Root Explorer and delete Gmail.apk in /system/app/
I know that (sorry not trying to sound like an arrogant ass) so far uninstalling updates has worked though.

I tried to look for this problem, but couldn't find anything relevant...
finally got my unlocked nexus 4 in the mail today!
was super excited, cut my existing t-mobile sim card (I'm on a contract with them) and was able to connect to their network.
the problem is that no matter what network i am on (wifi, 4g, 2g) i cannot download any apps from the play store. I click on 'install', it brings up the permissions window, i click on 'accept and download' and it tells me "[app_name] could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]."
Also can't update any apps...
I am extremely confused.. has anyone encountered this problem?

Go to Settings>Apps> View all apps and find your app in the list. open it and enable it
Tried but its not in there

If it's disabled, it won't be in alphabetical order with your other apps. It will be at the very end of the list.
In the settings menu it is named Contacts.

You sure you froze the app and didn't accidentally deinstalled it?

Re-Check, the name might be. Contacts or it may be on the end of the list
If it's not, then try re-installing your rom or you can manually push the apk to /system/app/

Same problem with People App

How did you sort it out? I installed Overstock rom on my nexus 4 and after that I am unable to add contact. I cleared data from Settings->Apps-> Contact storage , still no luck.. Can you please explain what steps you took to sort it out.
Hi all. Out of the blue the email app stopped syncing. I tried to set up my account again with no luck. Notifications is on. And syncing is on in accounts and syncing. Nothing is changed in settings. Please help.
Thanks.

New hangouts version 2.1.1 has been released. Doesn't seem to be a major update, mainly bug fixes I imagine. Here's the DL link.

I have noticed, on Sprint with this version I can now see the APN option in the SMS settings menu. Have never had that appear before, there are TONS of options for Sprint/SPCS now
Does anyone have this issue where you can't see the avatar of the person who texted you?

Got similar issue on stock. In my case Hangouts also didn't send pics. Killing and restarting app helped.

Still have the problem with peoples contact picture not showing up in the notification window
The only thing irking me is the fact that randomly when I go into sms conversations it'll show the hangouts bubble on the bottom left - greyed out with the word "sms" in it... Drives me nuts cause the text is also in a weird spot... If it at least centered it wouldn't annoy me as much.

You have to manually set the photo in contacts again to update for notifications.

OK so the app automatically syncs em but for hangout notification pictures to pop up in notification pull down you have to MANUALLY set the photo again in contacts app. I emphasize on manually
