YouTube videos open in Streaming Media with audio only, no video

When I first got my Tilt 2 I could play youtube videos fine, but now I just get audio, no video. When I launch youtube URLs they open in the browser and get redirected to m.youtube.com. When I click "Watch Video" it launches HTC Streaming Media, the About screen shows 3.10h (Build 1918.1332). The app connects and buffers just fine, and the sound is fine, but no video. The screen is just black (or grey actually, sometimes with random back bars). No difference in Portrait or Landscape mode.
I'm still using the AT&T ROM, I've installed a few apps but no media players. If I manually launch the YouTube app from \Windows\YouTube the video and audio are great. This About screen shows 2.6 (Build 1917.4121).
I searched this forum and the general forum for youtube and "streaming media" but didn't find an answer.
Did I do something to change the default player for RTSP? Should I even bother fixing the Streaming Media app or just figure out how to change the default player to the YouTube app?
youtube URLs never open in the youtube app as far as i know. but try a hard reset because even in streaming media, you should be getting video.
I've got a lot of apps installed and custom settings, it's not worth a hard reset just to get youtube videos when everythign else works.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?
Have you tried Pyrorobs youtube update?
Streams fast and works allright.
It only doesnt support landscape atm.
Hello... First, my English is not very good, i using Freya ROM, 23138, it's very good... but i have sound problems when stream from youtube using Streaming Media, there is no sound, only video is playing, i can't set up eny other player to be default streaming player when i open opera mini and m.youtube.com to stream. How can i fix sound problem in streaming media when i watch youtube stream? Any codec, or fix, patch, reg key or something to fix that stupid problem? I try using TCPMP end registry change rtsp key, opera mini than doesn't recognize stream and then i see rtsp error, i have all plugins installed for tcpmp and youtube and codecs. Default media player won't stream large files?

Hi guys,
I'm having some problems trying to play the website iphone anime. It streams just fine on the iphone and the encoding is mp4, so that should be ok. I can only download the files and then play it, I cannot stream it. I've been trying to change the default player but I can't seem top do so. Any our ideas?
Just tried with Meridian and get the error message about "streaming to this device", might be a 1.6 issue.
can somebody test this in 2.1

If you have trouble streaming .mp4 files it may be becasue you have uninstalled mediascape. I found that i couldnt stream .mp4 any more after i uninstalled mediascape & MediaPluginManager.apk, one quick reinstallation using adb later and its all working again.
i never touched mediascape so it isnt that. Try websites like this... http://iphoneanime.net, http://mediamp4.com ,http://iphonehentai.com/ and play any of those listed movies. They are all in mp4 format (great sites by the way for movie buffs who love to watch streaming videos)
I never was able to get them working while i was on 1.6 and after 2.1 the default player still says unable to load file. I then tried Vplayer (awesome, get it from the market) and now i am able to stream 50% of the movies on these websites. I think it has to do with the native streaming support of the base player. it just isnt any good......

Google Video app crashes with recent 3.1 update?

After the latest update, my Transformer freezes when playing local video files through the Google video player. Some files that played fine before (Mp4 files mainly) crash. Last error was "Activity Video Player (in application Gallery) is not responding.
Factory restore did not fix the issue. Stock, never rooted Transformer.
*Files play fine under Mvideoplayer if anyone else is experiencing this.

Did you get the 8.4.4.11 3.1 update last weekend? It added a new video player that plays my videos perfectly. At the top you have tabs for rentals (Market) or Personal Videos (local disc). Is it your old Google Videos app that is crashing?

Yes, it's the 8.4.4.11 update with the new video rentals option. When I go to my personal videos, my MP4's crash after a few seconds.
The same MP4's worked fine under the gallery app prior to this.

Open video in player instead of playing in browser?

On my nexus 5, when I play a streaming video in Chrome, it will prompt me to select from apps that I can launch the video in. I like this so I can play it in a dedicated video app instead of through the browser which usually lags.
I'm not able to do this anymore, any suggestions? All videos just plays through chrome. Thanks!

2019 10HD video and Youtube playback issue

Is this a common issue with the Fire 10HD?
My tablet is not rooted but I used ADB to disable all the Amazon apps and use Evie as a launcher.
I've installed Google framework, Youtube and VLC. I have also installed Kodi.
Other than Kodi, I have not been able to play any video files locally. Youtube also would not work unless I play it through Kodi Youtube addon.
Is there something missing from the tablet basic installation that will allow it to play the video files and Youtube?

NVM,
Turns out the tablet was buggy and stop playing video altogether. Anyway, a reboot seems to clear up whatever was causing the issue.
