You can get into TWRP by pressing and holding the power and volume down keys until the phone reboots, releasing them, then pressing and holding them again once the LG logo comes up. It's a little tricky and might take a couple of times to get the timing right. There will be a white screen that says "Factory hard reset" (which just means boot into recovery since the default recovery performs a factory reset). Press the power button 3 times to confirm and you'll enter TWRP.
Thanks for the info, haha Ive been using ROM manager to get me into recovery since I never knew how to get there using hardware buttons
You can also install GooManager from the Play Store. It has an option to reboot to recovery.
thank you soo much now i desire to custom my device hehee

Hi guys, (LG G2, Rooted, had twrp but now its vanished?!)
I managed to get my LG G2 into a bootloop. I was replacing bootanimations and rebooting and testing them out. I finally tried this 1080p boot animation that looked sweet. Once the device rebooted it would show half the boot animation and then reboot. I had twrp installed but now every time i try to access it it just ignores the hotkeys as if it doesn't exist anymore. I can only get into download mode if a usb is plugged in.
All i need to do is flash TWRP again so i can flash the stock bootanimation back. I do not want to do a fresh install as I have many important files (i know i should have backed them up). I have tried to access my phone via adb using windows commandline tool whilst in download mode. however, adb doesn't find my device (I was going to attempt to push the stock animation back).
Please help me guys i need my phone to be working by monday as i have work! thanks in advance

1. If you connect your phone to PC, what happens?
2. I also had trouble accessing TWRP, so I did the "Factory reset" button combo (Don't remember what it was) and when I slided to confirm, twrp booted. From there I think you have adb and can fix everything.
To get to TWRP, hold the power button until the phone turns completely off, then turn on the phone while holding the power and volume down buttons, then when the LG logo pops up, let go and re-press those buttons. When prompted for a factory reset, press the power button. Works every time for me.
Alone i used lg flashtoolnow, its ok. I didnt click factory reset i assumed it would delete everything? With lgflash i have restored system and everything is how i left it.

First off, you'll need to make sure your phone isn't plugged in or it won't work - I'm afraid if you can't enter recovery you'll have to go back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

Try to flash the Kitkat baseband or if you are fully stock then i suggest you to flash the KDZ to go back to full stock(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476)
If you still have important data like pictures or what then do normal flash. Use the Android version you also had as stock and use that as KDZ. If you are not stock then can you reach TWRP?
and what did you do before that causes the black screen?
Stuck with the LG logo. Nothing happens in download mode
Hi All, not sure if this has been answered prior. This is what happen, I wanted to flash SOKP so I backup my phone and saved to PC using Titanium. I have TWRP installed.
Boot Into Recovery Mode and Wipe Data,System,Cache,Dalvik
I restart so I can flash the SOKP Rom and all I see on my phone is the LG logo. I try to restart using the Power and Up button, but it just sits in the download mode saying "Firmware Update" with no movement or action.
The phone is unable to turn off now. This is my first go at Flashing a Rom. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hey, I have the nearly same problem with my G2 running CM12 also installed recovery
But I can't reboot in recovery neither with the factory reset buttons, nor manually with SDK Manager, because the device is not found.
So I can just reboot and it shows the CM boot image, or get in the download mode.:crying:
Any suggestions?:fingers-crossed:

TEAMWIN screen... Please help how to fix it...!
USE method with .tot is working for me
I know that there are loads of threads on XDA regarding bricked G2s (and how to fix them), and believe me, I have scoured every one I could find. None of them had the same situation as me. Here it is:
- tried upgrading rooted G2 (d802) to KitKat through PC suite
- on reboot, phone gives repeated "Unfortunately, com.android.systemui has stopped" messages
- this prevents me from doing anything - cannot start developer tools/USB debugging; cannot software factory reset; may as well have a broken screen
- tried booting into recovery - there seems to be no recovery
- I have booted into recovery before the update; I tried using the same method - nothing
- I googled for alternate methods, none of them worked either
- has download mode - what does this enable me to do?
- tried using a 'restore to stock' flashing tutorial on XDA - didn't work
- it is here if anyone was curious
- cannot access through ADB
- TWRP gone
- have no idea how to access through fastboot
Any other options available? Is there any other way to enable USB debugging, trigger fastboot, access the phone through ADB, or factory reset it?

ok well first entering factory reset(or custom recovery)
-before d80220d the key combination to enter factory reset is with phone fully powered off hold volume down+power and when lg logo pops up let go and hold volume down+power
-after d80220d(or any update that includes knock code) the combination was changed(pretty sure it had to do with the fact that on kitkat we used stock recovery to install root and everyone who couldn't get in via adb just had to use button combination which everyone knew) and the new combination with phone fully powered off is to hold volume down+power and when lg logo pops up let go and hold onto volume up+down don't touch power, if you have tried these then you should mention it

You are an absolutely beautiful person. I think I have fallen in love with you. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I swear I found at least 5 different tutorials and none mentioned this.
If your name doesn't go down in history, the world is cruel and unjust.
Sorry. But thanks. SO MUCH.
Im facing the same problem, wanted to go back stock and had CloudFlexy 2.3 installed. Did the firmware flashing, got stuck with procesesses stopping and couldn't boot into factory reset.
Found this thread and got to factory reset, tried factory reset but now my phone only has android figure with spinning thingy inside of it going on in my screen. ADB wont recognize the phone.. I think i need to flash stock rom or something but not sure how to. Please help, how did you proceed rtswan1211 after getting the factory reset screen?
Edit:
After waiting for 'bout 10mins for something to happen i just tried to reboot the phone and still the same spinning android logo came on. Finally plugged in the USB cable and phone booted up with working software. Had me really worried.

after tried several times, FACTORY RESET successfully done.
Previously, I updated the 20G through custom recovery and forgot to wipe clean. After completely installed the 20G, error shows blocking the screen and the custom recovery was gone. after several attempted, I succesfully done by:
- turn off the phone completely
- press vol down and power
- release immediately, upon LG logo pop up, and
- press vol up and vol down
- Factory reset menu pop up
Seems now is harder than before, I need couple times to try before succeed
Here's my problem.
I can't get into recovery by pressing the power up, home, power buttons. It says it's 'entering recovery', but then it gives another 'buzz' (like when the phone starts), and just reboots normally.
I used to be able to get into recovery with ROMManager, by selecting the 'boot into recovery'. Then I just got into my CWM and could do whatever I wanted. Now I can't do that anymore, probably because my device is not rooted atm (got CM12 on it though). I wanted to root it, but I can't get into recovery.
I already tried flashing TWRP with Odin (download mode does work), but that doesn't work either. I obviously searched google and XDA for the problem, and I saw suggestions for other phones, like updating the bootloader. But I can't find any information or files for updating the bootloader.

Reboots trying to go custom recovery are normal sometimes.
Lil guide for enter custom recovery (TWRP):
1. Power off your device completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
3. Release only the Power button when the logo of Samsung in white appears (you will see little letters in blue and red on the top left of the screen).
4. You will see the blue logo of TWRP (pic attached) then and you can release all buttons and start to navigate for the custom recovery.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think you understood my question. I know how to get into recovery when it all works. I've done it many times before. The problem is that it shuts down while booting into recovery, and then just reboots normally.
I only installed TWRP because CWM wouldn't work, but TWRP doesn't either. So I guess it has to do with how the device boots into recovery, regardless of what the recovery is.
Anyone? I kinda want to flash another ROM, but I'm unable to right now.

I don't think that's the problem. I have 0 issues with the power button. Also, when I try to boot into recovery, it actually says it's 'starting recovery'. Then it stops with a buzz and reboots.

Hi guys,
My Yotaphone 2 is currently stuck in a boot loop (shows android logo, then black screen, repeat) after a software update. I can get to the 'Downloading...' screen via power + vol. key and so have tried adb/fastboot as suggested in other similar threads. ADB can't see the device, which I guess is probably normal since it isn't booted up, but fastboot seemingly can. I've tried flashing the TWRP recovery which seems to go through fine on the PC end but doesn't seem to do anything at all on the phone itself. Calling a fastboot reboot gets the phone back to the boot loop and power + vol. goes back to the 'Downloading...' screen.
I've also tried using the Yotaphone flashing tool to flash a full android image - this also looked like everything was operating OK on the PC end but didn't seem to change anything on the phone once the process was complete.
Is there anything I'm missing or anything else I can try? Any help/ideas much appreciated!
Cheers.

Do you have any idea what caused the bootloop? (maybe installing xposed or something?)
When you keep vol-up pressed at (not after) the moment the phone vibrates during power on, you will end up in TWRP recovery. There you can at least wipe->factory reset. Don't do this if you have stuff on your phone you'd like to keep though. (you can try to rescue/backup those by trying "adb pull <path_to_file>" when the phone is booted into TWRP)

It was caused by doing an OS update (wasn't rooted or modified), I've only since tried installing the TWRP recovery and using fastboot to flash an official image to fix the looping. Flashing TWRP appears to work according to flashboot but holding the volume up key at the vibrate on power on doesn't do anything sadly.

Maybe I should rephrase: the vol-up should already be pressed once the vibrate starts. For a timing-insensitive, fool-proof (no pun intended) way you can enable bootloader (like you did before: you get the Downloading... screen). Then keep vol-up and power pressed together, after 15 seconds the device reboots hard, keep both keys pressed until you see TWRP 'curtain' screen, then release.
Did you try to use the YotaFlasher Windows application to reinstall an official ROM and restore factory defaults? You can get it from here, also download a ROM for your region here.
Hi,
I have a LG V20 (LG-h990DS) and have recently received the OREO update.
I am trying to get into the recovery mode to wipe the dalvik cache.
I have tried using the ADB method. I get to the screen with "No Command" and the little android robot. From there no combination of key pressed seems to have any effect to accessing the recovery method. Holding volume up and pressing power has no effect eventually restarting the phone. I have done this recently before the update, but this menu does not seem be accessible now.
Can someone please help? What is the correct key press combination as I maybe doing something wrong?
Thanking you in advance.

Sounds like you are going into stock recovery. Is your phone rooted? If it was an you updated it with stock firmware it probably replaced the recovery with stock recovery. You will need to go through the process of installing twrp again.
Oreo doesn't use davlik runtime anymore and has switched to android just in time compilers. If you are trying to do a master reset, you can always try
with phone off
power button and volume down press and hold
when you see the lg splash screen
release only the power button and press power button again (while holding volume down)
it should ask to reset the phone - with stock recovery, this will wipe all data from the phone so you better have everything backed up. With twrp installed it will actually start twrp recovery.
