[Q] Bluetooth app deleted on my galaxy s4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have a rooted s4 from att. I was using titanium backup paid version to back up my apps including both of my Bluetooth share and test. After deleting them and then trying to restore my Bluetooth doesn't work. I've been looking to see if there is a way to download the Bluetooth apk but have had no luck even when I have downloaded specific apps that are Bluetooth related. Please advise.

[Q] S4 stuck on 4.3 / Deleted touchwiz home how can I get it back

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i337M AT&T using it in Canada.
Right now its currently on 4.3 Jellybean but I cannot update it to the latest software as
when I click update it says something similar to "This version of Android has been modified and cannot update"
I know the reason why though, My S4 is software unlocked and I used this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 Called "Enable AWS on Samsung Galaxy IV AT&T i337 & Canadian i337M"
That unlocking method can only work on 4.3 but I've read some comments saying they have got it to work on the latest software.
I'm not sure how I would do it and I don't want to risk bricking my phone or anything like that.
Some of the new Galaxy S5 Apps that can work on my S4 cant because its still on 4.3 and the new apps work on latest software only.
If anyone knows how I can update and still have my unlocking without any problems please let me know.
Also : I tried putting the S5 Launcher and deleted my old S4 launcher and now the S5 launcher didn't work because it doesn't work on old 4.3 so now I'm using Nova Launcher but when I rebooted it said "Android is upgrading" and then said "reinstalling boot" and it showed that I have S4 Launcher back but when I clicked on it, it says "Unfortunately, Touchwiz Home has stopped" If anyone could give me a solution to fix this would be great.
Thanks

You're asking a few different things and I'm only going to address updating your firmware. First, once you're sim unlocked it should remain so to upgrade your firmware I'd head over to sammobile.com and download the 4.4.2 package for your phone(sgh-i337m) Then I'd flash that in Odin

Yes, I went into root explorer and found the Touchwiz.apk or whatever and deleted it and tried to replace it with the S5 launcher but that didn't work.

You'll either have to find a touchwiz.apk and reinstall it or flash the firmware in Odin.
Edit, read the third to last post in this thread where I've given instructions to flash your firmware. But from sammobile.com get the nc1 firmware for your device, sgh-i337m http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51676880

No WiFi access via hotspot on Rooted AT&T S4

Ok, thanks to k1mu's guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
I was able to root my phone properly. The key reason to root the phone was no access to tethering. Details for my situation:
Samsung S4, i337, MK2, andriod 4.3 from AT&T. I unlocked it and have been using with Rogers here in Canada but the tethering gives the Mobile data not available/invalid sim error.
I researched for solutions here and on google and all solutions required root, so I rooted the phone using the guide mentioned above. After that I used the method in this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535141
However, since I am using non-AT&T sim, this does not work any more. Further I uninstalled all AT&T apps using ES file explorer but still no luck.
Then I figured out and tried other solutions like FoxFi, etc etc.
Then I used the framework file from the thread below which was able to turn the toggle on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512981&highlight=at&t
Now I can see the the tethering tuned on. I can also connect to the wifi. however, it does not connect to internet. I think I am still missing some piece. I cannot post in the thread above as it is developers section. But I am lost, there is no further solution that I could find on forum or google. My mobile data works fine, I can turn on the tehter, I can connect to the hotspot, but I cannot connect to internet. It is a phone issue for sure.
I am not sure what to do in this case. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have tried this as well, but it did not work.

Does anyone think flashing with stock ROM will help? does it delete all system files altogether? But the only stock ROMs available are AT&T, so I do not see it helping much. Any ideas?

If there's a tethering mod for the i337m on 4.3, try using that tethering provision instead. Otherwise, you could try flashing a ROM that uses an i337m base, but you can't flash their stock firmware directly.

I have tried that tethering mod (if that means replacing the tethering.odex file in the system)
I don't know what i337m base ROM is, but if it is installing AT&T stock ROM, then won't I be in same situation again?

I337m is the Canadian S4 model, I'm saying to use a tethering method designed for that (the two you posted were for the Verizion and AT&T but not Canadian) or try a TOM based off the Canadian firmware. That way it'll have the file for your specific carrier tethering already in it.

Not the stock firmware, that won't work. I mean to try and find a ROM based off that firmware/made for i337m.

First of all I appreciate your patience in these replies and helping me out.
Here is my next query.
I found this custom ROM based on i337m
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313469
This post recommended this ROM
http://www.droidviews.com/best-custom-roms-for-att-samsung-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337/
but they also said I need to make sure that the baseband matches. I have MK2. Should I flash that or should I just go ahead and install the ROM as no such info is mentioned in the XDA thread. Also, are there any other changes I should make before installing this new ROM using safestrap?
please let me know

You'll have to look in the All Things MK2 and NB1 thread for install instructions and if it needs a modified updater-script for Safestrap. Also, the latest version is a 4.4.2 ROM so you'll either need to update to KitKat, use the KitKat Magic Toolkit, or use an older version of Goldeneye.

[Q] old offline Towelroot no reboot?

Hey guys. I recently started a thread in the general android Q&A but was given the helpful idea to check these parts...
I used to have an apk for towelroot that would root the S4 (i337 or i537) without requiring an internet connection OR a reboot to work! I thought I got it from the towelroot website but I have tried all 3 official versions from there with no luck and am now wondering if anyone here had the same APK I was using.
I lost my copy and miss it
Thanks!
What build are you on?
I337 stock NI1, rooted, unlocked

let me know if you still need it
I believe v3 is still the current version on the towelroot website. For me it requires internet, but no reboot

[Q] Galaxy s4 in a weird Not-Rooted/Rooted state

I recently rooted my Galaxy S4 using the Towel Root method. but a week ago or so while driving ATT forced an update and updated to the new version. The problem is I do not have Root active, but I can't use certain apps due to getting a message saying that they can't be used on a Rooted device. I am not sure how to remove this odd state I am in. Has anyone had this issue and know how to remove it?
Device: Samsung Galaxy S4
Carrier: AT&T
Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
Android Version 4.4.2
Build Number: KOT49.I337UCUFNI1

What is it that you really want - to regain root or to unroot?
1. To regain root - read the root section of All Things AT&T thread
2. To unroot
a. Without losing data -- I am not sure exactly how to do this
One way would be to re-root and then unroot using the superSu app.
b. With losing data -- Oding NB1 stock and update to latest. Follow Return to Stock
I would like to have it go back to unrooted status. I was hoping for a data safe method. But at this point whichever will work. I am assuming i'll have to root, then unroot. But I didnt know if this causes problem as apps believe it to be rooted but the system says I am not.
I'm having the same dilemma
I rooted my s4 using towelroot. Later att forced an update to 4.4.2 which i thought wouldn't work because it was tooted. But it actually did work and updated. Now the phone is not rooted but it seems that there are some files that are still somewhere that pretty much makes it be partially rooted but with not real root access. Now that the next update is being forced by att for version 4.4.4 it doesn't work. It stores installing at 27% with a failed message. I uninstalled towel root and super user but with no success. I whiped the partition and no success. I did a factory reset which i thought it would work and remove the files that maked look rooted and no success. What should i do exactly to unroot it?

You would have to Odin the nb1 tar file, it's the only version that exists. Then ota to 4.4.4, nj4. Any version of Odin works. It will wipe your device and you'll have to start over setting it up.
