A .tar or a custom tw ROM?

I don't know. Would a tar (Odin file) restore my phone completely to stock? No root?

Yes, if that's what you want, that's the way to go. I don't believe there is an MK2 .tar, but there is a MJA .tar that you can use. Then let the phone download the MK2 update on it's own. If you are on either MJA or MK2, you have the KNOX bootloader and can't go back to any build prior to MJA.

Ok. Thank you! I have a .tar file I didn't know it restored it though I just thought it got rid of the root

Make sure you are using the correct tar file. If you were already on 4.3 then you need to use either the MJA or MK2 tar to restore your phone. You can't restore older versions to your phone if you are already on MJA or MK2.

Mf9 flashing custom recovery to obtain root.

So I tried to root using qbkings method with Odin and that failed and I had to do the unroot method. While this root method may have failed due to my cable not being the best as well as me not plugging my cable into the back of my computer. But I was just wondering. With the mf9 update can you flash a custom recovery via Odin and then flash a custom kernel and then finally flash super user in recovery to obtain root?

All you have to do is use cf-autoroot. If you are using any other method to root mf9 you are doing it wrong and will have problems.
1. run cf-autoroot through odin
2. install custom recovery of your choice
3. profit
Why does everyone try to make it so complicated.

If you flash this through odin then you dont need to root cause its already rooted. If you are in stock yes you can just make sure you get no wipe data tar. If you dont wanna lose data

You can use either cf auto root and root the same way as you did with mdl or you can use crawj's mf9 stock rooted tar and odin that to get rooted.

OK thanks alot for the speedy reply. Didn't know if the cfauto root would work with the mf9 build. I did searh, but couldn't find anything. I did see the options u mentioned though.

Not really possible ATM. No tar file available. So you are in a way stuck with 4.3 rooted.

Not really unless cnexus makes a stock odexed rom then we can just flash that, flash stock kernel and stock recovery and unroot. Then do a factory wipe. But we dont have those files so if you modded your phone. You stuck until we can get a working tar or the files needed.

I think I saw in the general section that there is a tar file for Odin now. You may want to check there

Yes, the full MJA tar file is available on sammobile.com, download it and flash with odin.

if one were to flash this stock MK2 over an already installed MK2 for a completely stock finish, would it trip KNOX? no because it's using stock recovery?
No, it will not trip knox.
