I'm not talking about taking a screen shot but taking a photo and then be able to write notes on it?
I still haven't been able to figure this out?
With the pen out use Screen Write from Air Command menu while on a picture?

Which one do you mean?
There is a SIGNATURE feature, but it's not really like taking notes on the image. It's kind of cumbersome.

Screen Write takes a screen shot, so you can't zoom in and write. And it's not the original resolution of the image.

That's very interesting! My Gallery app looks slightly different than yours. However, I did find the EDIT button! On my version (US Tmobile Note 3), I have to touch MENU and then the EDIT button is there.
I didn't know that we could scroll the bottom row of buttons, but now I do!
Thanks!!

Press the spen button and hold it, then hold the spen on your screen.
This will take a screenshot and open the editing mode.

not what she was looking for.
i want to write and draw with the s pen directly on the front of pictures too. would be very usefull when i´m at work
you can write on the backside of pictures(photo notice). that attaches a note to the picture but thats not what i want to do.
would be perfect if you could do it from the camera application or gallery right after you shot the pic.
i find it annoying to load it in another app first, then edit and save it again
isnt there a (camera)app or any simple way to do it ?
i saw you were right !
taking a screenshot of an image currently displayed on the screen and then writing to it works.
the downside is that the resolution gets changed but i can live with that atm.
thank you :good:

Actually, it's not too bad. I've been looking for the same thing.
I just take a picture, then open it and then go into the edit mode.
It's not too bad, I just wish the gallery app had good palm rejection like the Sketchbook Pro app which I use for drawing a lot.

I know this one!
go into pictures and videos and pick the photo you want, go to menu and select "set as today background" when that opens you are given the choice of how faint you want the photo to look. the lower the % the stronger the colours, then click "ok" and its done.
all the best
Jay
Thanks for the reply but I'm not getting the option to pick the % of the pic. I'm using a HTC Advantage x7501 if that makes any difference...TJ

Are you definitely using pictures and videos? start/programs/pictures and videos select your photo, either press and hold the thumb nail or open it and, menu blah blah! its been the same on all the PDA's ive ever used right back to wm 2002. It says transparency level: xx% with an up/down arrow
Jay
Ahh OK now its working..I was selecting it from the today menu instead of using a explorer or paint program. Thanks so much, now I can use any pic I want...TJ
Hi,
Ever since I got my Desire HD I've not been much of a fan of the camera (really bad quality when it's dark) and standard camera app. It's quite hard to press the button when taking photos and not looking directly on the screen. Do you know how o use one of the physical buttons like the volume ones to take a picture? Or do you have any other advice, e.g. a free phone app where you could at least press anywhere on the screen to focus and shoot?
Thanks a lot!

Hi there. When I take the photos to myself I mostly use the option of face recognition. It works pretty fine and takes foto just after catch your face in a frame and, by the way, you will hear it so that way to have a time to smile so you don't need to press anything! Cheers.
If you buy the pro version of Vignette, there's an option in its' settings to take a picture with the volume keys.
Cheers!
RE
In 2.3 version there is the same option... you can assign shooter to volume keys or to "find" button.

2.3 version of what? And where is the setting?
After reading this thread I downloaded the free vesion of Vignette.
That allows me to use either the volume button or touch anywhere on the screen to take a photo. I have a "flip" case on my DHD and that makes it a little awkward, but touching the screen is simples.
As the free version is classed as a demo I don't know if it will keep let me use these methods or not.

My only problem with 4.2.2 is when I do a screen capture from the small apps draw, i can't find screen captured picture any where?
You here the camera click sound while taking picture, you then press the save icon (floppy disk icon?) is vanishes?
Any one else with this?

The LAST screenshot by the small app is stored at /sdcard/com.sonyericsson.notes/clip_small_app/. Inside it there is a Screenshots.png. However it will be overwritten if you take a new screenshot by the small app. (Screenshots.png? Maybe multiple pictures stored in it. But just we can't view it)
So the solution is - DO NOT use the small app to take a screenshot if you want the original file. Use POWER+VOL DOWN key combination instead. It works fine just like before.
clip manager
The pix taken with the clip manager is located inside notes app
There should be a folder with the same icon

It looks like the new 4.2.2 ROM and the album app doesn't see .png files? At least i know where the screen capture is going now.

Yes you need to use a file manager (like ES file manager) to view that png.
And the key combinations are not really hard to remember, as there're only 3 two-key combinations:
Power+ vol up for a while: reset your device when it hangs
Power+ vol down: screenshot
Vol up+ vol down: that's not sensible

The album app does see .png files. Mine sees the screenshots I've taken with the Pwr&Vol- button combo. I think the small app just saves the screenshot in a folder that also contains a .nomedia file, so the album app doesn't find it.
Any one have issues with listening to music and using Walkman and in lock mode? When I press the unlock button, I can see the album and also slide up/down flickering like mad.
Using the Hong Kong version and can't seem to shake it.
Also on another note, anyone know how to add additional apps to the lock screen? Only can see basic apps to choose from.
I don't think the thread needed to be made seeming your "bugs" have not been identified others, not to mention the majority of bugs and improvements in their new ROM seem to be in peoples heads.

My problem with Snote is that when I click to start writing with the spen a blue box appears and all writing is done in that box. When it goes to the next line the blue box expands to include that line.
How can I get rid of the blue box.

I would like to ask some questions, if that's okay with you? It's mostly so I know exactly how things appear on your end and to make it easier to answer your questions.
First, are you clicking the button as you are writing in SNote? Have you tried writing in SNote without clicking the button?
Does the blue box appear at the bottom or in the middle of the screen?
If it's possible, grab a screen shot and attach it.
Which firmware are you on. ?? I am using my script notes and it's super fast.. Best ever.. .. Any idea on when our devices ll get kitkat??

Attached is a view of what I mean. I have the P605. I dont click the stylus button. But you can see the blue box around my typing if I put in another line the blue box expands. I wrote a lecture for half an hour and when I went to review it I could only see part of it. there should have been 2 pages but could only see one.
The blue box appears as soon as I touch the screen with the SPen.

Thank you for that screenshot! It was a very helpful thing.
That bluebox is for the text input mode, and it will show up pretty much automatically when S-note is in edit mode. When not in edit mode, as shown on the first attached screenshot from my Note 3 (since they essentially share the same S-note other than Templates...), you should see no blue box.
You WILL however, see a blue triangle at the bottom right and possibly the upper right. Try tapping that with your pen or finger. The end result should be the same as the second screenshot, a pop up window. You should be able to scroll and find the rest of your lecture that way.
...but yeah, that mode will end up treating that box as one continuous, yet scrollable page. It should keep everything, though.
Hopefully that helps, but if I was way off base, lemme know.
Can you tell me a bit more about what your problem with s note actually is so that I can compare my problem with yours??

That was exactly my problem. I have found the you CANNOT write for half an hour taking notes and expect the snote to move to another page when the first one gets full. That was how the note 8 snote worked and that is the one I prefer. I don't want to have to keep creating text boxes just so I can have separate pages. IMO the new snote has gone back to the stone age. I don't use it any more, gone to lecture notes.
I discovered these merely by accident and never knew about them before so others may find them useful too!
1. Press the multitasking button (square) to see your thumbnails of running apps. Now tap and hold on anyone of them to get straight to the app info page where you can do things like alter the notifications, check the storage and battery use etc .
2. Using the keyboard with word prediction, you are given a list of words to choose from right above the keyboard. If there is a word you don't like, don't use, spelled incorrectly or accidentally added to the custom dictionary, you can stop it from appearing again. Just tap and hold on the word you want to remove from the custom dictionary and a pop up window will show - confirming your decision.
Hope these help.

Ok , lets take 2 gestures
Open gallery you will find on top 2 tabs one is album and other is photos tab on photos you will find photos classfied according to date
Then if you slide down there with your finger you will enter to camera.
Another one in camera if you slide up you enter gallery.
Try.
Also in the Gallery app, go to Photos tab and you will see 4 columns of photos. Do a reverse pinch to zoom gesture and you will now see tiny thumbnails in 9 columns. Tap and hold one one of these super tiny thumbnails and you will see a small zoomed image of it and you can drag your finger all over the screen (maintaining pressure) to see more zoomed images as your finger passes over them.
Finally when viewing an image full screen, reverse pinch to zoom to get to horizontal scroll mode to quickly navigate to other photos.
