I recently installed the Dec.20.14 build of Kitkat 4.4. However, when my Defy booted up, from the start, the Wi-Fi said it was "turning on," and stayed like that for a couple of hours, and wouldn't turn on. Does anyone know the cause, or how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.

ROM only first
Try flashing ROM only and reboot.
If Wi-Fi works then reboot to recovery and flash gapps and other zips if needed. :good:

Thanks for the advice. Without gapps, 4.4 has wifi. However, now, i cannot flash gapps, as it says "Insufficient storage in the system partition" or something like that.

I think you used GApps Standard (~70MB), try using GApps Core (~16MB).

Dunno. I've flashed Evervolv a few times with no problems other than the known features that ain't working yet.

when i flash a rom that has gapps already installed, everything works, however on CM7 and evervolv, the ones that i have to flash GAPPS myself, it wont work

And it never works. At least redownload it and try that. If not that maybe one of us can make you a new flashable with minimal apps, similiar to the tiny gapps packages that several mdpi roms carry with them.

And you said everytime you have to flash GAPPS yourself it doesn't work. And no one else is having that problem. Therefore, you are doing something wrong.

Umm, the first times I flashed it it worked perfectly, so I don't know how it could be my fault considering I have done it the same every time. I mean I don't know how much I could do wrong by installing a zip file from recovery.
Smoothtaste, that souds great, ill re download the rom and GAPPS both when I get home, then ill get back on here

Sorry, BrandoKC is the man you're looking for there. He's awesome at step by step guides. I take it you tried redownloading GAPPS again?

I have no solution for you, but want one! I've been getting the same problem all day today. I reflashed cm7 then GAPPS and couldn't log into google. It is the same GAPPS and cm7 that I flashed before with success. The GAPPS also worked with evervolv.
I went back to the saved evervolv rom and had to reauth to my google account for some reason. However, I STILL couldn't log in!
I had to eventually go all the way back to my stock backup in order to get access again. (it didn't ask, was already there)

This is what i did, and it worked! i cant guarantee it, but hey if it works then yay! if you have downloaded the roms and GAPPS on your computer, delete them, delete ALL traces of CM7 and also GAPPS or Evervolv if thats what you are using. Also, delete ALL traces of GAPPS and the roms on your phone/sdcard. Then, redownload a new rom and a new GAPPS.. then of course get them onto your sd card. then boot into recovery, make sure your using CWM 3!! then wipe data, wipe the cache, and also wipe the dalvik cache Andvanced>wipe dalvik cache. once its all wiped, flash the rom. STAY IN RECOVERY, and flash GAPPS without ever booting, flash it right after the rom installation is complete. then, reboot, enter your info and hope it works. PLEASE let me know how this works out, im eager to help you.!!!

Ok, so, I was trying to install a newer version of AOPK Rom for my Nexus 10 when I forgot that if you delete the whole system, it will remove the .zip too, so I did it and now I have nothing on my Nexus. If there is anything I can do to fix this please let me know I've only had this since christmas
I'm on Windows 7 and I'm using TWRP

Well it's pretty much a requirement when flashing AOSP-based firmwares like AOKP, Cyanogenmod, etc. Otherwise, you have little functionality as the Play Store and other crucial Google proprietary apps are not included with the firmware itself.
Follow the directions listed in the thread:
MAKE A NANDROID
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
[*]flash Gapps
reboot

i've been sitting on the purity rom black screen for 2 minutes.
EDIT: I think I forgot to wipe my data
First boot could take 5 do 10 minutes. Wipe data is always a good idea. Wipe cache and dalvik after Ron flash before boot.

What is the procedure you're doing? Wipe data (to start clean, but you lose your data), wipe system-cache-dalvik, then flash ROM, Gapps, superuser, then reboot. It should work if you follow this.
I wiped data and flashed everything again. still waiting to load

Which Gapps did you use? It shouldn't really matter, but PA Gapps of Slim team gapps are suggested.

Hello, I have 10.1.3 CM on my phone right now. If I flash any other Roms like 10.2 CM, AT&T stock MF3, etc I'm having reboot problems. The initial first boot into the phone desktop is fine. However, I can never get into again. It always gets stuck on the Samsung boot screen. It's the image with Samsung and a unlocked lock. When I go into recovery, I have to wait a long time too. Sometimes I get the enter a password screen in TWRP. Once I get in, I have to format data and I can get to phone desktop again. However, when I reboot again, I get stuck and the cycle continues. The only thing that reboots for me with no issues is 10.1.3 CM.
Are you wiping data, system, dalvik, and cache before you flash?

Yes. But as long as I go back to CM 10.1.3, it always works fine and no issues at all. It's only when I try any other rom I get stuck on the Samsung boot logo screen after a reboot.
