Camera app itself works fine. But it lags too much and I can't make any videos. I downloaded snapchat qnd tried it out, but the camera immediately stops working and I can't take pictures. I don't know where to download any camera fixes. I'm using cm9.
Any help here is welcome.
Thanks
PS: I think, that the problem is caused by the custom ROM I've installed.

What kernel?
Also, why an outdated "stable version"?
copy the contents of ur dcim folder. then delete your dcim folder. reboot phone. phone will recreate dcim folder and hopefully everything should work fine.

Why YouTube quality. Just record in the highest quality. It will still upload to YouTube just fine and will look better

As soon as I get the chance I will try that, thank you.
first off dont hate on me if i posted in the wrong section. This is the only part in the forums I'm allowed to post in.
Now to get things started i've been using neutrino a while now (1.4 s ee)
and I recently tried to use oovoo but it wont allow me to video chat. even in the settings of the oovoo app their is no camera options. oovo always worked for me before I flashed neutrino. does any one else have this problem? is their a fix for it?
Ive already searched for this but no one else seems to have this problem on neutrino.
All that aside this rom is just fantastic.
Thanks
neutrino rom uses miui camera not the stock gb cam soo it doent suport front camera extract camera and gallery from
cm7stable and swapp out your camera and gallery

The front camera does work with Google hangouts and with chat if you install the add-on zip. Most things that don't work with neutrino do work after flashing the add-ons

I should've mentioned that i did flash the camera add-on but still nothing. Can provide exact instructions on how to go about doing what you described?

[APP] Quick-Fix for "Cannot Connect to Camera" error for Epinters CM10/CM10.1
I know this should go in Atrix development, but I am relatively new to the community and cannot post in the development section yet.
I have been frustrated by the camera connectivity issue that has been affecting Epinters CM10 ROM. Luckily, Epinter posted an easy solution to fix this without rebooting the device.. Looks like this works Epinters CM10.1 ROM based on comments in that thread (I have not tested it).
I decided that it would be a good idea to wrap this in a simple app that would allow a one-click fix!
This app requires root in order to kill the mediaserver process.
To Use:
1) Install
2) Open "Atrix Camera Fix"
3) Click "Run Fix!"
4) Grant Superuser permission
5) DONE!
If there is interest, I could create a one-click widget to do this as well.
Changelog:
Version 1.1:Added ability to kill the gallery/camera app (com.android.gallery3d)

Edit (Dec 11): Fixed typo. Thanks saldirai for letting me know!
Edit (Jan 1): Added changelog and updated apk
Edit (Mar 3): Seems to be compatible with Epinter's CM 10.1
Edit (Apr 12): Reports of working with CM 10.1/10.2 i9300 (International Galaxy S3) & CM11 sprint galaxy s3
This would have been a nice addition few months back, but I personally haven't run into this issue since the early CM10 builds. Maybe because I started using Camera FX, but camera always works and is never laggy like before. Still thanks for your work, I'm sure it will definitely help someone.

I still see this issue when using the stock camera, mostly after opening the camera multiple times in a relatively short period (~15 minutes) from the lock screen. I imagine that I can't be the only one seeing this. If this helps just one person, i'm happy!
Haven't used the stock camera in a long while, I remember it being annoying to restart. I'm sure there are going to be people who will enjoy this.
Try camera360 from the play store. It's free and has lots of options. It doesn't crash either...

I was using Camera 360, with Epinters CM10, but after the last update of camera 360, it wouldn't connect yesterday when I tried using it.

What version of Epinters ROM are you running?
Please ensure that you have granted Superuser permission?
My solution is to use tasker to run the shell command: kill -9 `pidof mediaserver`
On every screen wake. So every time I turn screen off and back on the cam is good to go.

My app does exactly that and adds the ability to kill Gallery, as it sometimes hangs when the camera stops working. Essentially the same solution with different implementation
Yeah I was pretty sure it did. I just wanted something a little more silent and automated. Useful regardless. Hopefully the new kernel devs will fix the problem with cameras entirely.
Note: although on the new alpha kernel the cam always connected for me, I still had problems where I would get "static" artifacts on the bottom of images. Running this fix solves that issue as well.

Works on me i9300 cyanogen mod 10.1. Thanksssss
Yeahhhhhh:highfive:
I read about your app once a while ago and then I wasn't able to find your thread and today I finally did.
You should make this app more popular since it helps a lot. I'm running an international S3 with CM10.2 and cause of the lack of source codes by Samsung this app is more than welcome on my device.
Thank you again!
It works!!
I found out that this also works for the camera problem on CM11 sprint galaxy s3

Which kernel?
Not to mention the fact you revived an old thread, which may get you reported...

What's going world.. I'm kind of getting really annoyed at the fact that no matter what KitKat ROM I flash on my phone I ALWAYS run into the same issue.. Video playback is unstable.. Whether it be on Chrome browser or YouTube.. Two apps I use ALL the time! I'm running latest Mahdi ROM and still the same issue and I always find my way back to LG's stock ROM because quite frankly it is the most stable of all ROMs.. Any suggestions on a ROM without this issue? This is truly annoying to me.. Thanks in advance!

What are you're specific issues? Its hard to help without more info to you're problem.

The video playback on each and every KitKat ROM I've flashed always have video playback issues.. It takes a bit to load videos here and there and it usually force closes on both YouTube app and through Chrome browser.. Also every now and then(not often) even videos on my sdcard won't show the video it will just be a black screen. I'll have to reboot phone and then it works again.
All the kitkat roms are based on cyanogenmod kernel. All aosp roms will have the same issues as cyanogenmod. This has been the case on most phones for a while

Any clue if this will be fixed? I don't know if I'm being a bit ignorant but shouldn't it have been fixed by this time already? Been quite a while.
Been using this ROM and Youtube seems to work fine for me:
