The search function doesn't work very we'll on this site. I have been searching for days and can't find any method to SIM unlock a S4 from a CANADIAN carrier that's not a AT&T phone.
Does anyone know if its possible ?

It does work. You have to use the search tool on the right side to search inside the thread.... people have used it on at&t phones. You need to be on 4.2.2 though.
If you are wary of this then pay for an unlock code

Bell doesn't have a 4.2.2 firmware for their S4 model (SGH-I337M). They were released with 4.3.

So there is no current method developed to unlock a Bell, Rogers,Telus, Virgin and Koodo 4.3 SGH-I337M S4.
Am I correct XDA ?

Kingo Root does. I used it on my Canadian model, which is an i377m btw, i377 is US model. Just download kingo root app, install to pc, attach the usb and click root. Be sure to allow any pop ups on device, and do NOT allow it to use the cfautoroot method (or odin mode), as that will trip knox. If it gets that far, just close out and run it again. I've had a few handsets take 2 attemps. You can install any custom recovery you want, and run any rom for i377m or international variant of the s4, just keep in mind flashing a custom recovery will trip knox. Kingo root itself, does NOT trip knox, mine is intact. i377m is a candian variant with an unlocked bootloader, i377 is the US version with a locked bootloader. Very different. mentioned due to you saying another method doesn't work on i377. well no, it doesn't, but if you're asking about a Canadian model, it's an i377m, and it will work.
I run 4.3 stock touchwiz, rooted, with wanam to fake official status, nova prime for the kitakat themed stuff.

Sammobile has the 4.2 firmware for the Bell I337m (Canada (Bell Mobile) 2013 July 4.2.2 I337MVLUAMG1 I337MOYAAMG1).
My guess is the hidden menu unlock procedure will work after you flash that firmware. Alternatively if you can locate and flash just the MG1 modem it should give you access to the hidden menu. You can then reflash your current modem.

I started with I337MVLUEMK6 (Rogers 4.3). I was able to successfully restore with that firmware with oden.
So it seems i337m doesn't downgrade on 4.3. Is there a way I can flash the modem to get access to the menu ?
It's all about umts secret menu access.

There are lots of kiosks in malls that will do it for around $20.... unless you are actually trying to kill the phone... (kidding)

It appears the Canadian models also have locked bootloaders which prevent you from downgrading the entire firmware.
I saw the MG1 4.2 modem in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324667
Once you flash that it should give you access to the hidden menu. You can then re-flash the MK6 modem after you unlock (also in the above thread).

I have fido on 4.3 stock I337MVLUEMK6 rom. I tried to downgrade it to I337MVLUAMDJ using the Rogers (http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyS4//SGH-I337M) to get the hidden service menu. I was able to get it downgrade and show the baseband and build version to : I337MVLUAMDJ using ODIN 3.09 and access the service menu(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285431) to go through the steps and unlock the phone. However I got the invalid sim error and also the phone wifi and sound doesn't work
Any ideas how to get it work on the I337MVLUAMDJ firmware?
Thank

Canadian models do not have locked bootloaders. even knox doesnt lock it. which is why we can run custom recoveries and kernels. will trip knox, but it is *not* locked bootloader. I337m = unlocked

Samsung Note n9005 AUSTRALIAN Help

Help i have a Australian SM-N9005 and i rooted fine and flashed the Omega rom which worked perfectly. I decided to some of the other roms out there and after flashing ROM][XXBUMI7][V1.1][8/10][N9005] K.I.D.1412| Fast|Clean|Stable|battery life| now my phone just boot loops after intial Samsung Note 3 logo. I can get into CWM still and Odin Mode and have tried flashing Kernel, Recovery etc etc and also a few other roms with the same boot loop. Anyone know what would be going on?
If that was happening to me. I would take out my Sd card and go into cwm wipe all! Then flash over stock with Odin

I ended up getting a swap over as the Aussie XSA Firmware not out yet. I'm not rooting mine again until more roms released and Aussies be careful flashing the roms already released
I recently upgraded my Optus contract and picked up the note 3. It has Optus branding. Once the Australian XSA firmware is released am I able to flash over the Optus firmware via odin like we used to do with previous Samsung devices or am I going to trigger knox? I'm not fussed about root for now, I just don't want the Optus crap.
Hey guys,
Any updates on if we can flash the sea firmware over the top via Odin?

I tried to flash this on my n9005 from Kogan (Phone come from Hong Kong) & it kept failing in odin right at the end.
I eventually had to do a firmware recovery with Kies to get it working again

Not sure but could be that your phone is region locked to Hong Kong and you're flashing firmware from another region? But then again I remember reading someone downloaded Unknown - XSI from sammobile and flashed it without having problems and it supposedly didn't trigger knox not sure what firmware he was on though.
If it's region locked it says so on the box

My N3 is also from Kogan. I suspect mine was activated in Hong Kong before being shipped to me even though the OLB region is not meant to have Region Lock enabled. I had written to Kogan before buying the phone enquiring on the Region Lock of the devices they ship. I guess they activated the phone in Hong Kong just to be safe.
Looking forward to rooting and loading Omega ROM but until the process is a little more mature, I'm holding off.
Great to see so many people working hard on this device.

Love the Xposed installer with modules.
Hi,
I also am worried to flash anything at the moment.
Does that XSA Firmware (I'm assuming that means open, like directly from Samsung AUS...?) trigger KNOX counter? Its official firmware, I'd assume not, just wanted to see what others say or have had happen...
Do you guys think its better to wait till carrier updates to 4.4.2, so bootloader and everything gets done officially. then root and flash 4.4.2 roms?
Or I can just flash the Polish (or other NA7) 4.4.2 (NA7) and just go from there? Dam, I'm not sure yet...if anyone shed some light on this that would be great!!
Thanks advance guys!!

You can flash any Stock Samsung rom without triggering Knox however, due to a new bootloader in the Kitkat rom once you flash it you can't go back to the Aussie JB rom...
You should be able to go to the Aussie KK rom when it comes out but until then you are stuck using other country roms and modems....
I had the Polish NA7 rom installed and it worked OK however my phone was rooted so I didn't have some of the problems others have reported - apps unable to access/write to internal/external sd cards...
Since then I went to custom roms, much better...
Oh ok I see. Thanks for your reply.
So what do you recommend? Can't I flash the polish to get my boot loader updated then flash a custom kit kat rom? Then when an Australian one comes out flash stock again then root again? Is that possible?
I've never had this problem where I've been faced with how I can't "go back" Haha.
Thanks again.

Anyone know where i can get stock aus firmware higher than;
N9005XXUBMI7_N9005XSABMI1_XSA
Was preloaded JB 4.3 i forgot to save backup before i flashed.
I went to a KK 4.4 CM ROM straight out of the box.
I decided i wanted to revert to stock and play with the touchwiz features.
Strangely i flashed via odin the wrong firmware.
Pretty sure it was this one;
N9005XXUDML3_N9005IDEDML4_IDE
Which ended up being polish JB 4.3 (Orange)
And it worked.
=\
Forgetting my confusion about reverting from KK to JB,
After downloading aus firmware from sammobile,
Both the retail and telstra are failing with this message;
W REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 2 . Binary : 1
Checked the forums but only found threads relevant to SGSIV.
Something about new OTA update blocking root.
Any help?
Oh and if possible id prefer stock retail to telstra branded.
Cheers.
Edit ; sorted, found them, Sammobile just takes abit of navigating.

[ROOT KERNEL FOR TowelRoot] Tab Pro 8.4, 10.1

As you may be aware, GeoHotz has created an app to root an android device using a recently discovered exploit.
I tried it on my LTE Tab Pro 8.4 which had the latest firmware for my region "BTU" which is NB7,
It wouldn't work, but another XDA member @Inuit, said it worked for him with the DBT NE5 firmware he has on his device.
SO! I downloaded the DBT NE5 file, extracted the Kernel and repackaged it and flashed the Kernel on it's own. Then tried the root method.
I have now successfully rooted the device and kept Knox at a cool 0x0.
I chose to do things this way, as I wanted to keep my regions firmware and not that of another county.
So I still have my original firmware, but I am now using the newer Kernel, everything seems to be working fine but considering I only did this 15 minutes ago, I haven't had enough time to test. But connectivity is fine, battery levels fine etc...
UPDATE: Everything is fine for me, loaded Xposed modules, no adverse affects at all
I have attached the repackaged Kernel, all you need to do, is go into download mode and flash the file under the "AP" Tab in Odin 3.09.
Then install the TowelRoot app, which you can get from the links in the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
Install the latest, SuperSU (again links in the above thread).
You should be rooted and Knox kept at a cool 0x0.
I have tested the this on my Device the T325 and another user tested the Kernel for the Wi-Fi version T320 and are working fine But!

My Tab came from China going by the firmware that came with mine out of the box and I replaced it with the UK BTU firmware no problems, you have to wipe the device etc for the CSC to apply though.
Pretty certain you can get difficulties if the new ROM is older than the one installed, if it's number is greater than or equal to the currently installed firmware you should be fine.
All the above is for official firmware though, not custom creations.

It's not modified, it's a stock kernel from an exploitable firmware, for those who don't have an exploitable firmware for their respective region. As I mentioned, the latest version available for UK, is a step behind the German version, the UK version will be the same as the German one "at some point" in the future, but why wait when it can be done now.

Hey can OP or anyone else upload the SM-T320 kernel to another site that doesn't require registration to download?

Edit: I guess Mega requires registration if you are trying to DL via a mobile device but you don't have to in order to DL via a PC.
Uploading for the benefit of others who are trying to DL via their tablets.

no.
some discussions long ago suggest knox may used a technology called eFUSE, originally invented by IBM.
once knox detects a tampered bootloader, it will "blow" a micro-fuse in chip. then we see the warranty bit set to 1.
this is a physical-level change, so no way can revert it.

Hi, sorry noob question.
I have SM T325 with Hong Kong firmware originally. If I want to flash another firmware from a different country via Odin, will it trip the Knox? You said yours was Chinese firmware and you flashed a British one and it didn't trip the Knox, but I just wanted to confirm it. Also, after I flash the different firmware and I flash the root kernel, it won't trip Knox right? Sorry for repeating your words, just wanted to make sure, thanks

flashing official firmware from different region won't trigger knox, only rooting and installing custom recovery will.
SMT520 was kernel jan14 flashed his kernel apr3
used towelrootv2 and don't have root access
on build anae fwiw
it also seems to know something is up because now i get a notification that tells me there was suspicious activity on my tablet and to reboot to make changes. rebooted and still get the notification so i assume it's just trying to revert. at this point i dont feel the need to flash stock recovery i'm sure a reliable, working root method will be there sooner than later.
on further reading it just appears that any exynos processor tablet wont be able to take advantage of towelroot until geo decides to open support. makes sense the 8.4 (wifi/lte) versions as well as all the qualcomm LTE versions of the tab pro/note lines are working.

Not true it can trigger Knox. I found out the hard way on my European 8.4 flashing a US ROM. It didn't flash properly (ext4) error and then I had to restore with kies.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Can confirm it works on Tab Pro 8.4. I didn't have to mess about with flashing different Kernel for some reason. Below is the firmware that was on my device.
Device: Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 WiFi Only (SM-T320)
Region: UK
Version: T320XXU1BNE3
Build Date: 2014/5/27
After installing towelroot V2 I just pressed the button on the app and let it do it's magic and then installed SuperSU/Pro. And that was it. All rooted and it didn't trip the Knox flag. Now titanium backup and similar root like apps work. Brilliant. Well pleased

[Q] Flashing a SM-G900AZ Galaxy S5 from Cricket Wireless

Can it be done? I want to flash to Samsung stock firmware so that tethering back in the phone's firmware. I rooted the phone with Towel Root successfully.
If this can be done, what firmware works? Any custom ROMS available that work and have been tested on this model? I am currently downloading SM-G900AZ_NA_KK_Opensource.zip from Opensource.samsung.com. Is this a stock firmware or just source code? Otherwise, would the AT&T stock firmware work from the GalaxyS5Root website?

I have the same phone and have been on the hunt for months now for a rom for this phone. I did read somewhere that the at&t and the cricket rom are one in the same, just cricked rebranded it and changed a few letters at the end of the model number. I did give that at&t rom a shot but didn't get far. I was able to install Safestrap 3.75 (TWRP v2.7.1.0) Recovery and do a back up of my current stock rom, rooted the same way you did yours, and wiped my system and tried pushing that at&t rom on the s5 but it failed. I did a restore and everything was back to normal 100%. So, this is a working recovery but I haven't found that magical cricket rom yet. I'm in the same boat with the tethering thing and it sucks... It's also my understanding that cricket is now at&t just rebranded so the at&t rom should work but i'm not sure.

Update:
I tried installing cm11 that is supposed to be able to be installed on all s5's and it failed out saying this rom is not for "klteaio" and it gave a read out for the one's it is for and the names were similar like "klteuh" "kltetew" "kitewvd" those are just examples cause i don't remember the names but i do remember them being in the structure of "K LTE AIO" K probably for kitkat and LTE for the s5 band and the AIO is probably the identifier cause the aio was the only difference in the name. I'm looking into adding the klteaio string into the cm11 zip file somewhere.

any luck in getting a custom rom for the cricket s5?
no luck...
Nothing yet...
Hey guys any ROM for att s5 will work on our phone as long as its tw-based. I'm almost positive our boot loader is locked(would love to find out otherwise) so any custom kernel or aosp-based ROM will NOT work..
I am running dynamic Kat v4.0,the Dev just put it out yesterday and it has a appealing theme as well as tons of customization options, probably the next best thing behind actual aosp. Find the ROM in the regular development section of the att s5 subforum.

Have you tried installing this APK?
https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Also where did you get towelroot that works? From here https://towelroot.com/ ?
I'm answering my own question for other cricket S5 users:
Towelroot works.
I have not tried any custom roms I doubt any will work but on my older S4 the Golden eye room made it so much faster so I'm hoping someone can confirm that works.
Still not able to get tether. I have installed X Tether module under Xposed but no luck. There is no tethering to enable.
Installed Greenify and hybernated several apps now its much faster.

Not sure which part was "misinformation".
I still cant tether on the Cricket ROM. I am not interested in other ROMs. I just want to find the darn shortcut to the tethering module in the stock ROM. I have a feeling Cricket only removed the shortcut from the settings menu, not the entire module from the ROM.
I even tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/app-hotspot-entitlement-bypass-v1-1-5-9-t2705152
but it didn't work, it says it failed to execute command.
Has anyone tried flashing stock Cricket firmware onto a stock Att branded S5? I'm about to tinker with my ladies S5 since she upgraded to the S6. I would think it can be done since its possible to flash Metro PCS onto a Tmo phone. Thoughts?

If you just install the latest official cricket rom, (lollipop/released a few weeks ago) the tethering feature is built in /enabled by default, just go into settings and turn it on.

Bought SM-G900AZ with latest lollipop cricket rom, want downgrade (to 4.4.2) for rooting.
Trying with Odin official 4.4.2 rom from Sammobile. Got error fused 2 binary 1.
Any help appreciated.
So, like an idiot, I updated to the latest OG3 lollipop on my G900AZ, thinking that I could still root. And I thought I had read everything pertaining to this. Towelroot did not work for the update. Anyone know of a way to root lollipop OG3? or is there a way to downgrade back to what I had with Odin, which was KitKat NK2? Any help would be awesome!
UPDATE: I followed the instructions in this post to get root on OG3

Unlocked bootloader allows you to flash custom ROMs, including those with different kernels. I ended up flashing BOG3 out of desperation to recover my device, so I confirmed/answered my own question. As of BOG3, the Cricket S5 (SM-G900AZ) is still bootloader-unlocked.

Have you already flashed any custom ROMs for BOG3 on this phone? If so, which one do you think is the best and most stable? I might consider trying one if there aren't any major bugs.

[Q] What model (version) of s4 is exactly this?

What model (version) of s4 is exactly this phone? which software is installed on it? is it stock or not ? plzz help and tell me its complete version details
My phone is sgh-i337 or gt-i9505 ? Or only baseband version is i337...or any firmware version difference ? Help
Open the back and remove the battery. Look on the label. Unless the person who sold you the phone physically changed the label, or removed it, it will accurately tell you the hardware version of your phone.
Given that the boot loader and modem (baseband) are for the AT&T version, SGH-I337, it seems likely that the hardware is I337.
Edit: Also, check that it's not a cheap fake clone. There are apps that can check hardware, and run benchmarks, etc. Search "Genuine Galaxy" on the play store.

I've really no clue. I'm not aware whether an AT&T modem will even work on that phone.
If the hardware is genuine GT-I9505, then you will most likely get a more definitive answer in the XDA-Developers forum for that phone.

It's most likely an I337 with an I9505 system. Either way, since the bootloader is i337, that means it's locked so if it ever was an I9505 it's not now, but mist likely it wasn't ever.

The boot loader is locked, so you can't do this exactly. You can install stock KitKat, install safestrap, and upgrade to lollipop that way. You need to read through the forums to understand what you are doing before you proceed. I'd suggest you do quite a bit of reading, and only flash when you are sure you know what you want to do.

I do not own this phone, so I can't test or speak from personal experience. I already gave you the links to the information you need ^^^. I don't know if you can receive Over The Air (OTA) firmware updates. You may not be able to if you're not in USA. Also, I'm not sure if you need to be on an AT&T sim. If you can, you can get stock lollipop without root with this method: go to the "[GUIDE]Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Installing Safestrap" which is the second link. Go to the second post titled "Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Safestrap Instructions" and click the button to expand the instructions for "OPTION 1 - Stock Lollipop (No ROOT)"
If you cannot receive OTA updates, then currently your option would be to first flash NB1, manually flash the NJ4 update, root and install safestrap. In the Odin to Stock guide, perform both step 1 and step 2 under "NJ4 -- KitKat 4.4.4" After this, you can use the "[How-To] Update to I337_OC3 - 5.0.1 and KeepRoot (4/7/2015) " thread, which is the third link above ^^^.
Your third option would be to wait until the developers post a method for flashing Lollipop directly from Odin.

Now that you have updated your user account, we can see that you are in Faisalabad, Pakistan using Mobilink carrier. As far as I know, you will not be able to receive an over the air update, nor be able to use Kies to update. Someone who knows more could give a definitive answer on this.
Assuming that you will be unable to use OTA or Kies, your options are:
- root, install safestrap, install rooted OC3
- wait unitl (and if) developers post an Odin flashable version of stock unrooted OC3.
As far as your other issues, you could install the NB1 modem (baseband) and see if that clears up the issues, as it was working before.

Fix For Those Who Tried Flashing The g930u Firmware

Hey, just wanted to make this thread to help out some people who wanted to know if the unlocked firmware was flashable on the tmobile s7 and the answer is no. The unlocked firmware's bootloader is version 2 while T-Mobiles bootloader is version 3 meaning we can't downgrade and you'll be soft bricked if you try. I found this out the hard way and here's how I fixed my device and hopefully those who have tried and can't figure out how to fix it will benefit from this.
When the unlocked firmware failed to flash, I tried flashing the stock firmware but got an error and it failed at system.img.ext4. File too large. To fix this you have to flash the pit file and the stock firmware via odin. My first time I was caught in a recovery bootloop, all I did was reflash the firmware without to pit file (Must have flashed it already) and it booted up normally. The second time I soft bricked (someone said unticking oem unlock worked for them but on an at&t s7 so I tried, no good) I flashed the firmware and the pit and I booted up without an issue and everything was saved, however I needed to reroot and xposed was removed but other than that no data lost. Not sure why this happened but just an fyi. I did factory reset the first time so don't reset if your're soft bricked and just flash the firmware with the pit file and see how it goes.
Here's the stock firmware(Latest PG1 is rootable, I've tried it and many others have confirmed): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242688258
Here's the pit file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzyeAt2hy6XeR1pTM29ORWhDalk/view
Here's the thread with the g930u firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/xda-community-love-g930u-t3415875
I'll gladly help anyone with questions, and if you've seen the other threads and still need help rooting I'll gladly do so.
Edit: You can now flash the latest unlocked firmware because the bootloaders are both v4. You can root the latest unlocked firmware.
thanx mate worked on the first try, if youre stuck on the tmobile splash screen flash the pit and ap thru oding, thanx again mate lifesaver
Quite unfortunate.

I have not tested it, but I wouldn't recommend bc of the possibility of not being able to flash back or the possibility of bricking. But I could be wrong and it may work.
How did you go about rooting the PG1 firmware?

Thank you so much! I thought my s7 was gone for good. I had to reflash somethings but it ended up gr8!
Any updates on this? Is there a version 3 G930U firmware or a way to downgrade the 930T?
Thanks
So I have an SM-G930A and flashed the 930T firmware as I use T-Mobile. I was able to flash the 930U firmware before I flashed the 930T. If I want root and the ability to flash the new Note 7 Port Rom, am I able to flash back to the 930U. Or does the BL file in the odin package change my BL to the locked one on the T-Mobile model?
I believe you'll be unable to downgrade to the bootloader on the U firmware, but someone might confirm it.
You can go ahead and try it
August OTA update for G930U firmware is still bootloader v2. It's actually kind of funny T-Mobile's device has the least amount of tweaking.

Funny in an infuriating way, this is really pissing me off. Thanks T-Mobile, the Un-Uncarrier.

Is it safe to flash any of these ROMS? If Yes, Which one do I flash on my T-Mobile Galaxy S7 SM-G930T?
I'm on Build: MMB29M.G930TUVU3APG1

I believe none will work because you are on pg1 which has bootloader SW v3 and all U firmware are version 2. You can't go from 3 to 2.

Amidst all this chaos with the Note 7 FIASCO, Samsung should at-least make some positive contributions towards development of S7 by providing a bootloader unlock. F**k samsung F**ked up big time !

The Latest PI3 firmware for the SM-G930U now flashes to the SM-G930T. The bootloader is now on v4 for the U variant.
