I would also like to know peoples settings to get an idea of what's normal.

I can reduce cpu voltage on all frequencies by 40 mV but gpu lags at anything above 450 mhz(performance governor), also I'm on doomkernel and I can't properly underclock for some reason...

does ur battery life improved after this ?
im on 1.7ghz max , 300 min , slimkat rom interactive , row ..

Mine is 1574 mhz max and 300 mhz min interactive row, stock kernel and @Nut 4.3 ROM..do i need to set on boot the default governor? Battery life is good and not overheating too much while playing NOVA 3..

If you do that all your seffings will go back to default like governors. There should be the option to set the same parameters on boot to keep all like you have right now. I don't know if on rooted Z1 there is this settings but should be because I remember I did all of this with android on different devices.
My Z1 with DoomKernel and the latest Monx Rom
1.7 Ghz Max
300 Mhz Min
Intellidemand and noop
(I see a lot of people are using row though, so may need to test it and see if I notice a difference - that and undervolting..)
Current discharge rate is at 3.2% per hour and that's including wifi never being off, some gaming, instant messaging conversations and emails

i got setcpu also and i did a long benchmark it says 5628ms and lower is faster , what that means? and whats overclocking? how do i use this app to make my battery longer im on fw 026.
my profile settings are:
charging ac/full 998 max 245 min ondemand
charging usb/full same as above
screenoff 384max 245 min ondemand priority 50
battery <30% same as screenoff
are these good settings am i missing something?
It means your phone needed 5628 ms to calculate something. The less time it takes, the faster your phone...
There's a thread somewhere on the best settings for max battery, but lower settings make your phone slower...

Hi,
I am currently using an Arc S with DoomKernel 18 (1.6ghz) + Arconium 7.0 on .62.
I've used NoFrills CPU to set max at 1.6ghz and min at 0.3ghz but when I used the app CPU Spy I see the following: 1ghz 15%, 249mhz 47%, Deep Sleep 37%.
How come my arc s is never running at 1.6ghz? Is this because it never saw the need to and could perform at 1ghz or is it because it is clocked in some way?
Usually it depends on the governor you are using.
After you set the processor speed, try to reset the timer in the CPU Spy, which might help.

Is there a governor you recommend? I am currently using SmartsassV2 but it was initially set on interactive I think

Try InteractiveX ?

Smartassv2 works for me, just don't forget to tick the "set on boot" tickbox

So I was trying to mess around with CPU profiles and I noticed that the low end of the CPU is clocked at 1GHz. If I lower it with Rom Toolbox, it just goes right back up after I leave the menu. the profiles won't stick, governors don't make a difference, and I'm a little confused.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
I thought the lowest speed was 384 MHz? Install CPU Spy and check what it says.
It is 384MHz. The lower frequency change because of project butter that make the cpu run at a higher frequency when you touch the screen.

Dont you need a custom kernal in order to change the clock speeds?
sent via xda premium with nexus 7
No, we can already change it but it won't stick since it has its own frequency management.

Is this somewhat similar to perflocker in HTC devices? It had to be disabled to change any cpu settings AT ALL with the stock kernel.

You're right. I guess it just has its own profile to set at 1GHz when the screen is on, because the CPU Spy showed it in Deep Sleep/384Mhz for the majority of the night.

Hello guys,
I'm here to ask for all of your opinions about the cpu Profiles, frequencies and governor.
For screen on I'm currently using 1200mHz on performance, I would like to know if it would save more battery by using on demand governor.
Some months ago I had a discussion with few xda members about this subject. But that was on aurora v4. Now I'm currently on v5 u17. Let me know your opinion. Thanks

To be honest, I've never experienced any benefits of setting cpu profiles for screen on, screen off etc. Your phone will work much more smoothly if you stick as close to the defaults as possible.
I don't use profiles. My min is 245 and max 1200, using on demand governor.
For a while I experimented with profiles, and had bad lag when unlocking the phone, and terrible battery use when screen on.
Independent of profiles, your governor will put your phone into deep sleep when the screen is off anyway.
Do a search for "race to idle" this explains in more detail the benefits of using ondemand as opposed to other governors in terms of battery use etc.
IMHO, Android as a platform would be far better served if people stuck close to the default settings and cpu profiles. Most of the time, any negligible benefits are just placebo.

So according to the race to idle running with performance governor saves battery
Sent from my U8800 using xda app-developers app
In theory yes, but if your cpu is always running at max frequency, ie even when doing nothing, then no.
I have done tests, and my battery always lasts longer using ondemand as opposed to performance, or other governors.

Use interactive/bfq that's the best in my opinion

Hi all,
Im surprised that this topic isnt here already (or i cant fibd it)
Im on existenz v5 with doom kernel v20
I asked alot for peoples settings in roms and kernels to fully take advantage of both rom and kernel but in our Z but never got a reply so i start this thread in the hopes that people are ganna dump their settings
ROM:XistenZ v5
Kernel:doom v20
Settings:all stock (help me out, guys)
And please feel free to discuss

Stock 4.3 rom, XZ kernel.
Best combo atm.

I'm On stock 4.3, XzKernel with:
Max Clock 1,7Ghz, Min clock 384 Mhz, Mp-Decision on, governor: Intellidemand
Undevolt of -50mV for all freq.
GPU governor ondemand, max freq. 450Mhz
IO scheuler sio with 512 read ahead buffer
Modified screen gamma :victory:
With those settings in 4.2.2 rom I had 4h 30m of SOT.
Does only Xzkernel support gammacontrol?
