For a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0...
Anyone know of a Google/Android split keyboard similar to the stock Samsung keyboard? I'm currently on AOKP Kang ROM and love it. I didn't like much about the stock Tab 3 but did like the stock split keyboard option. Tried to install a stock Samsung keyboard but didn't seem to work. The Google/Android keyboard doesn't have a split option. Thanks.

I'm trying out the Adaptxt keyboard now and it seems cool but I really don't need so many features and it's taking some getting used to.
I use Thumb Keyboard and it's great on my 10 inch Tab 3.
Use SwiftKey it is the BEST one and features far exceed any other.
Make sure you try SwiftKey

Definitely. This is the best keyboard ever. (typed with SwiftKey at superspeed)

+1 for Thumb Keyboard!
I also have google, swiftkey, and swype, but thumb is my daily. Thumb has more layout and size options. It could use better themes, but I take function over fashion!
I also prefer the standard predictions in thumb. I find swiftkey (2nd choice) gets a little wonky after a few months.

I use that on all my android devices. Highly customizable.
I gotta say swiftkey x tablet.
Best keyboard for phones and tablets hands down. Once it adjust to your typing style you'll be cranking out messages in no time.
Touchpal for my phone. Supports both normal and swype writing. Here is a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Cr8eXuKl4&

Using this as well. Best keyboard i've tried.
Surprisingly, the Gingerbread keyboard is pretty awesome once you tweak the key size and such. Really awesome error correction. Been using it right from the get go. Happy with it ^^
I would suggest thumb keyboard, it's a really great keyboard and will make your typing flying. But not support for chinese typing
i have tried the thumb keyboard but there is a bug with it. i use it for thumb keyboardin, but hooking a fullsized hardware kb causes wierd glitches.
the smart kb pro works well. i will look at the others.

Obviously we already have this great dock (Well most of us), but what I have yet to find is a great soft keyboard to use when I want my tablet to be, well, a tablet.
I have tried the various Swype keyboards (Swype, TouchPal, SlideIT), also some regular keyboards (Stock android, smart, hacker), but sadly I have yet to find a keyboard that works well.
I don't really like the idea of a two hand keyboard, since usually when I am typing without my dock, I am holding the tablet in one hand and typing with the other. On the other hand the Swype keyboards work, but not very well. On my Galaxy Nexus I have gotten it to work really well, but, the Transformer in landscape is just too much real estate to use Swype effectively.
So post something about your favorite keyboard, what you use, and why you use it. I am really interested to hear what you guys (And gals) have come up with.
swiftkey works well for me
Funny you mention that as that is what I am trying right now. So far so good!

I use stock on day to day and MultiLing Keyboard when using a different language. It is the easiest one I used for switching frequently between languages.
Try TSwipe pro in the play store, its free to download and supports many different languages and supports swipe and most of the features of hackers keyboard.
Hope you enjoy it

Forgot to mention that the keyboard allows you to switch languages through the keyboard with a touch of a button or swipe of a finger. It is the keyboard that I currently use and I too have tried all of those others and this is simply the best.
Try it I am sure it will solve your problems too.

Using swift key 3 beta. It's the best I've seen yet. It really eliminates the space bar.
i love TouchPal.. . went to it from Swype. Swype was boring and white. TouchPal at least had a few skins abs i Lee dark themes. .. easier on battery

Thumb keyboard works great for me with switching languages. The spacebar key has the current language and if you swipe the spacebar you can switch the language. Plus with its split design it is the balls in landscape mode.

I'm using SwiftKey Flow.
You can flow couple of words at the same time, which is awesome, and you can enter ?/! very fast!
Samsung keyboard. Only one with swipe, handwriting and number row. AFAIK.
For me the Samsung continues input is a very superior option. Even with fast and sometimes inaccurate swiping it manages to get it just right most of the time. One of the best keyboards I've used. It's just so fast and accurate.

hacker's keyboard for me the best!!
Samsung keyboard memorize your frequently used sentence even. You enter the first word and it will keep predicted the entire sentence. Love the default one with continues input
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The default keyboard is the best IMHO. Every other keyboard, irrespective of its benefits, leaves out the benefits of Note 2: lacking in s-pen support etc.
The only irritation with the default keyboard is that there is no autocorrect. I have to manually choose the correct word from the list and it doesn't autopick the selected words when space is pressed.
For me samsung the best.
Anyone find a way to enable Swift Key or Swype tablet modes? One of the best options on the default keyboard is that it has one-handed control. Swype and swift key have this mode as well but only for tablets. I miss easily swyping symbols. Perhaps the only way is to root and change the DPI?

I am now using the Kii Keyboard and loving it. Very fast and accurate typing with lots of options to customize.
I prefer stock JB 4.2 Keyboard. I canys stand stock overcrowded/cluttered keyboards.

I prefer gn2 default stock keyboard.. I write a lot in Serbian, and i can use swype then.. When im writing on english i use handwriting or prediction.
The numbers above keyboard are Major ability why i choose stock keyboard

I have been using SwiftKey since it first came out. Would try others but always came back to SwiftKey. For typing or swype, I just am not getting comfortable with the stock keyboard but would hate to lose the s-pen button. I will be a very happy camper if SwiftKey adds support for the s-pen.

SwiftKey 3 for me, since I type both English and German text, and the keyboard recognizes (and makes suggestions for) both languages at the same time.
Been using SwiftKey 3 tablet version for a while now.
Have to say it's the best I've ever used.
And it works very nicely with my 240 dpi mode.
Also nice keyboard when in landscape mode
I alternate keyboards randomly!

Swype is the reason for me to stick with Android, but their latest beta is ****ed up with dictionary issues, so I tried latest SwiftKey Flow Beta, and it has some issues as well, so for now it's Samsung's default keyboard with continuous input. But I'm keenly waiting for the next beta of Swype, which is coming shortly as per their mod.

Use the swift keybord trial from play store it is awesome specially the split mode stock keyboard is no where near when it comes to split mode compared to swift
Hackers keyboard. Its a tossup between that and stock. Having to switch to symbol sucks, whereas long press serves as a shift key on hackers. Hackers obviously lacks handwriting input, which is a nice feature on stock. that's the only thing I miss with hackers though.

I'm quite happy with the Swype keyboard. It has both a Split and Mini keyboard built in. Im dearly in love with the mini keyboard, only gripe is that I can't move it around the screen as much as I would like too. Being able to Swype with the pen and not trying to hack out letters is key.

I have just installed Kii keyboard from the market, I usually use Swift key and would only have installed any new keyboard similar too it.
All I can say is, this keyboard will give Swiftkey a run for its money, it is currently in beta and available in the play store and has similar features with a ton more. You can choose various keyboard styles, predictive suggestions similar to Swiftkey, you can add arrows and make numbers independent of long pressing.
I am currently using the ICS layout. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. The developer also has an active thread on xda forums, I think it was under android general and in the apps section.
One thing to bare in mind is that you have too enable Swype functionality through the settings and is labelled " gestures" I'm still messing around with it as there are tons more options that I still need too discover.

yeah i like the stock keyboard but the handwriting detection puts all first letters in capitals or it sometimes repeats phrases in one sentence, crazy bug that, i don't like the fact that i can't use the in built spelling feature without turning on the predictive text, i currently use the jellybean pro keyboard, nice and simple, i don't like swift key keyboard, hackers keyboard is very good though and it's free too.
