you can't unlock it. If you have MDL firmware you can use an exploit but if you are on MK2 of MF3 its completely locked down

[Q] Soft Bricked i337

Hi everybody!
I think I soft bricked my Galaxy S4. I had MF3 firmware, flashed Safestrap and Installed custom ROM. Everything was Okay before I decided to flash another one. I flashed Alpha v10 ROM and it didn't boot.
Right now I'm stuck with Galaxy s4 writing and accessible Download Mode and stock recovery mode.
What should I do now? I know that we don't have MF3 firmware available but is there any possibility to boot this phone?
Thanks in advance
There is a script on here that you can flash with odin to make your phone boot normally its in the android development section for our phone. Try looking for it there. Good luck.
Edit: heres the link to it.

After rooting, install hashcode's SafeStrap (in android development section). Then you'll be able to install any TouchWiz based ROM (Verizon).

Use this link and it will tell you everything you need to know to root the verizon. and load custom roms. It is what i followed.
However if you have any troubles with kingo not rooting your phone, then try Kingo 1.1.6 version. Look at My sig down below at exactly what i did.

4.4.2 downgrade

so i took the 4,4.2 ota but ive read that root is not out for it yet, but still only certain recoveries and roms will work.
is there a way i can downgrade then install a recovery to flash an aosp/google play edition 4.4.2 rom?

There are plenty of threads with information in the general section, including a thread convienently named All Things MK2 And NB1. Make sure to check that and read more before asking questions unless you're on an I337m, in which case you can disregard anything I've said ;P

[Q] {UCUFNB1} Would Odin work to flash?

I'm looking to flash custom Recovery's and what not. I just got the phone 5/2/14. The SGH-I337 on AT&T. Got the phone with 4.4.2 kk. Updated when update was available. Wanted to know if I could use Odin to flash things like any other Samsung phone.

You can not flash a custom recovery. The bootloader is locked. If you want to flash custom roms look in the general forum. Look for " index all things mk2 nb1"

I'm on the same situation, just got my phone from AT&T (SGH-i337) with 4.4.2, now on baseband NC1, I would like to root the phone and it seems the only way is downgrading to NB1 and then downgrade again to MK2.
But I'm not so sure if it's safe to flash the roms having a SIM lock on my phone, is it necessary to unlock it before trying to flash?
Another noob question, a locked bootloader means I can't get CWM, but can I still install custom roms installable through Odin?
Sorry, No custom ROM's for locked bootloaders.

Sim Locking only restricts your phone to a particular carrier, it wouldn't interfere with a custom rom, as long as said rom was built for your carrier.

[Q] Couple of Queries, plz help

I have acquired an S4 i337 from At&t, it's on the MF3 4.2.2, i have used towel root to root it and installed safestrap as well...
i wanted to upgrade to 4.4, should i just odin the firmware onto it by putting it into download mode? which 4.4 is best for it in terms of stability and stuff...? i think only stock touchwiz is recommended since i don't know whether it's bootloader is locked or not...
second
can i root the 4.4 through towel root easily or is there a problem with it... which in your opinion is the best for the i337? I won't be able to downgrade again yeah?
I would flash the nb1 tar file in Odin and then go from there. You can root everything including oc3. Read through this and you'll find ask your answers, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53758227

thank you for replying, that's very helpful. Also if i may, i need to flash 4.3 before 4.4 or just go directly towards 4.4?
since it says from any base... ?
it's just downloading the firmware (NB1) then putting the phone into download mode, start Odin and wait for the phone to reboot? that's it?

Yes it's as simple as that. Put the tar in PDA or AP slot depending on what version of Odin you're using. Only have f.reset and auto reboot checked.

Yes you can with Odin, but do your know the bootloader version of 4.2.2 you're on? If you're on mdb or mdl you probably don't want to update. On 4.2.2 you can use twrp or cwm custom recoveries and flash any roms your want. Once you're on 4.4.4 you'll be limited.

Go into setting, about device. Look at the last three characters build number. That's a good indication of what your bootloader is. If your rooted the best way is in a terminal emulator type
su

final question, is 4.4.2 a good upgrade from 4.2.2? is it worth it? i've read 4.4.2 had some issues with the S4... should i remain on 4.2 or upgrade to 4.4? what do you suggest? i've got the firmware (NB1) downloaded alongwith Odin... should i go for it?

I would. It has bug fixes and you can update to lollipop if you want. You can still have root and safestrap if you want. There really is no downside to it.
