actually i forgot to mention, you can do "search in youtube" in trackID and then share the song from youtube to A Shazam Downloader

Just to clear things up here for everyone, I figured I'd give this app a try on my Galaxy Note 3 running the OEM Stock Android 4.3 Verizon ROM and I haven't had any of the issues that ya'll are having. It's worked perfectly for me from the very first time I tried to download anything from Shazam. I was actually very surprised at how quickly it started to download each song...it was almost like I could press the "Share to ____" button within Shazam, the downloader app would kick in, then almost immediately I would have the little "Downloading to..." notification pop up in my status bar. I'd then pull the status bar down to check it and the download would already be finished, or 1 or 2 seconds away from being completed. I've been very satisfied with this app so far, minus the ads on each side of the "change download folder" button in the app. So, to clear up the fact that you guys think this app is just for android 4.2 and older roms, that's a very wrong assumption, as my android 4.3 Note 3 has done very well with this guy's app so far. Actually, there wasn't one single song that failed to initiate to download....I'm batting 100% so far with this app...I think I've tried like...9 songs so far and ALL 9 searched/initiated FAST and downloaded FAST. Thanks for this!
--my only gripe is your decision to place an ad on each side of the "change download location" button...it's VERY frustrating when I'm half awake and trying to press the button and then I miss-press and click the ad 2 or 3 times in a row. Move the ad(s) to the bottom of the screen or somethin...please? lol Aside from the advertisements aggravation, this app is fantastic! Thanks! :good::good::good:

the main idea was instant download, without thinking too much..
about the ads, your'e right.. pretty annoying.. i'll change their position next update
since the app is not on google play (i dont want to be banned from there lol), to update you need to download from the link again.

Awesome app man I love it keep it up

Does it support sound cloud download?

I am somewhat confused as to what your link actually does? I can't get it to do anything. When I click on the how to use, I get the pop up window that says to share it to a shazam downloader. And then it does nothing.

I've tested this on a nexus 4 running 4.4.2 and a Galaxy s 3 running 4.3 both hang and eventually time out.
I hope this is fixed, I really like the idea of this app.

"download songs directly from shazam"
I understand its use from inside the Shazam app, but does this actually download the song from the Shazam website/storage or does your app search the internet for something that follows a specific naming convention?
In other words, where does the file being downloaded actually come from?

Can you make it for soundhound? Thanks. Works magically! !

Excellent idea, but I also wonder where the songs are downloaded from and at what quality. Maybe different quality options and Soundhound support would make it a little better?

fur fixing purposes....doesn't work on my Nexus 5 4.4.2 either. Timing out.
like the idea of the app!
+1 where do the songs come from?

Hi,
Thanks for the interest in the app.
Next month my nexus 5 should arrive - be sure to check for updates and fixes
The app currently checks the best match from youtube and uses an online MP3 you tube downloader to download the song.
I like the idea of soundcloud, and soundhound, I have to check that.
It works for youtube share though

Hi!
I installed it yesterday afternoon, tried to log-in for a couple of hours but it only worked this morning. I have already chatted with a friend using whatsapp on iphone! Cgorki, thx for sharing.
I've been running and using it for almost 6 hours now with mobile internet always on and listening to music but when I go into battery usage this doesn't show up. Does this mean that it doesn't use battery or is there something else? It doesn't seem to drain a lot of battery because I still have about 85% left.
Thank you..
...well they obviously developed an app which charges your battery instead of draining it
I also have no problems communicating with iPhone users, also able to attach maps links, voice messages, pictures and videos
Uh, is this supposed to be distributed? I thought it's still a close beta.

When the owner provides a direct Link to the apk on his own servers, it doesn't really look like a closed beta.
Loving it. Thanks so much
Still random disconnects when sleeping. It only works after app and service are restarted.
Had it on the iphone, works great. I have been waiting for this for months and months now, but they still don't want to make it final. Either they are slow, it is just too hard to work with without the push thingy á la iphone.

well if you develop for android, you develop for more than only one device like for iphone, thats why it takes longer... btw. I can not confirm disconnects while phone is in sleep mode...
Update was released today, you can update the app via the built-in updater

Yes I noticed the update. I am using wifi only for this week. From next week on, I have a new contract with mobile data. Maybe there is a problem connecting after a while of disconnecting.

That's weird, I receive messages without ever opening it first, straight after booting and completely leaving the phone alone.
Under settings it always says service has started right on the minute that I booted my phone
*edit* Sorry I think I misread you, last night it gave me the option to install the latest version, and the change log said it fixed many random crashes, so far running great. But I'm sure you've upgraded
so far i can NOT use it, says auth failed.. any tips?
if you want the auth to run, email the support (even if the app says do not!) I did that and I got my access about 2-3 days.

mailing them will do nothing, I'm pretty sure they didn't put you on any "beta list"
you get your access just by trying to contact their servers, after hours/days your phone is successfully registered, thats what me and many other users have experienced.
I must have sent 14 messages untill I got through. Dont try it more than once, keep trying every couple of hours. Or even the next day. Once you get the auth, all reinstalls will be good to go.
Has anybody read the EULA?
It's talking about a "free trial period", and then a subscription fee per year.
Is that the same with the iPhone-app?

Car Home Project

I am wondering if anyone can take up this little project.
Basically this is the Car Home from the T-Mobile Vibrant and i am wondering if anyone can play around with it so that A: it can fit on the Galaxy Tab (app does not center properly as you can see from the picture), B: if the Contact icon can be made to work properly (as you can see an error mesage comes up) and C:when selecting the search icon nothing happens(the one on the right hand side of the contact icon)

Maybe just not in the 1 day since you posted it.
There's already a few good car home apps that work fine on the tab, which may be partially responsible for peoples reluctance to spend their spare time on this project also.
It's probably just a case of changing the name of the app it's calling, why not take the APK apart and see if you can work it out yourself?
i extracted the apk, but that's as far as i can go. have no idea what to do
this can get the ball rolling
as you can see there are three folders layout, layout-land, and layout-port
i dont know how to mess with xml files or dev in any other way, so someone can take a crack at this.

yea, the default google one is pretty good. i plan to use it in my car w/my tab and the samsung car mount.
on a side note, using the car mount right now just on my glass desk. works pretty dang well too!
That's pretty cool.
Looks like most of the images are intended for a 480x800 display, which is the resolution of the vibrant. You'd probably need to go through and scale a number of the images to fit the higher resolution screen of the tab. (Edit: Looks like the app is intelligent enough to scale this itself)
It's possibly a fair bit of work, but probably not all that hard. You mainly just need to extract it, work out what to edit, make the required changes, remove the META-INF tag and then manually resign and recreate the .apk. Not quite as straightforward as that (you'll need the Android SDK for a start). Might be a good exercise though.
I might have a play just for something to do. Maybe
Edit: Right, as with most things, _way_ more difficult than I estimated. I've decompiled the APK and I'm having a poke around in the sourcecode. I'll see how I go, but it's quite possible that I'll end up giving up and putting it in the "too hard" basket. Disclaimer: I'm completely unfamiliar with this sort of code so I'm having to decipher the syntax as I go. Editing just the graphics is a piece of cake, changing application calls and layout is a different story.
I managed to get most of it sorted. The icons are now centered and the Contacts button works. The search button doesn't even seem to be _trying_ to do anything though, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to achieve. I might just get rid of it, a text-based search in a car dock app seems a bit redundant to me.
I don't get a "Voice Search" icon on mine, I get a "Browser" icon instead, so I'd be interested in seeing what happens on yours.
The .apk is a little larger than the original, probably as it's being compiled against a newer SDK.

I fixed the "Alarm" option not working with the Home dock application as well:

I do have a car home app that came with Roto's JME v4 but i still like the one from the Vibrant.
I am not a programmer so i would not know how to fix it.

Great work on the Car Home, but i was wondering if you could make some changes:
This what it looks like on my Vibrant, any way you can get to look this way?
and in regards to the Desk Home, the Alarm does not work i get an error message:
and one question on the Desk Home, on the weather icon next to the date and time shouldn't it show the current temperature? on both the Vibrant and Tab it just shows 00 C, not that important but it is weird that it does not update after you set the City and change the temperature to F on the Daily briefing icon.
Thank you again for your help.
The apk on your vibrant must be different, the one I'm working on doesn't even have the images for "Phone" or "Music".
As for the alarm, I've no idea, it works fine here. I'm running the JME firmware which may have something to do with things.
The weather displays 00 if it doesn't have a net connection, it works fine as soon as it can access the server, but it looks like you've got data running. Can you put it on Wireless and see if it updates then?
knightnz said:
I don't understand why you're getting different icons than I am. It'd take me a lot of work to decipher it and try to fix things, someone who has a better understanding of smali code would need to have a look at it.

The Car Home from my Vibrant i got it via the market when it was available, the one currently on my tab i got it from the link on my first post so i could not tell you why they are different. Well i gave it a try, i'll keep it the way it is but it looks better than before and at least the contacts work. Thanks.
Regarding the alarm i am lost, i am running Roto's JME v4 so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
In regards to weather on the Desk Home i'll try and get better signal and i'll try wifi connection see if makes a difference and i'll report.

Sprint's new emergency alert system on any 4.1 NS4G roms

I was playing around with some different aosp roms the other day and I thought since the new emergency alert system Sprint was so kind to give us in the 4.1.1 ota update is such a great new feature to have maybe I should try to get it to work on a rom other than the OTA. Well, it turns out it 'just works' by default!! The app will not install the traditional way, but if you copy it to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r-- it works! The menu shows up in system settings>wireless & networks more> cell broadcasts

FEMA wow, no way is this coming near my phone, eff that
YAY! Now I can be informed via Klaxon that rain sometimes causes flash floods. If you use this, keep your phone on mute or people in theaters and conference rooms will hate you. Personal embarrassing experience talking here.
I would be okay with it if you could shut off the alarm. Trust me, it's nothing like any other notifications else that exist on your phone. I want to know about Amber Alerts, and very severe weather events, but this appears to be all or nothing. Imagine the chaos if everyone had this on their phones and they all went off at once, which I assume must be the intent. Talk about shouting fire in a crowded theater. Not well thought out, but neither is FEMA.
for the record this was on an epic 4g touch, i assume the same behavior on anything else unless the federal govt is building device specific apps

did you not see the screenshots I posted?? There are toggles for different types of alerts. And you can turn notifications off, as well as test notifications. Also, if you don't like your alarm notification, just change it. We live in a world where rooted phones are possible and you can do these things It's as easy as swapping ogg files!
no, actually i did not, thank you for calling my attention to them. apparently pictures get cut out when i access xda from behind a firewall, literally looks like there's nothing there on pc, but tapatalk on my ns4g has them. Maybe they are getting it right, I will have to take another look at it. When I found it on my nonrooted e4gt, it looked nothing like this.

Great rom.
I tried playing around with it and for some reason it wont work.
Idk i really want to have this feature but for some reason i cant figure it out.
Lets just review.
I move the apk to /system/apps.
Then fix permissions to rw--r--r.
Reboot
Fix permissions in cwm.
Reboot check settings?
Is there something im missing?
Try accessing it from Messaging app. Hit settings.
If I can find some time this afternoon I will flash RBJ and see if I can figure out what's up
I will also look into it also but not for myself, lol. I hate the alerts.
This works on today's port off rasbeanjelly for ns4g by rustyjay. I used root explorer to move the apk to system/app, changed permissions to rw-r--r--, and rebooted. No need to go to cwm.

Android L Bugs Collection

Figured it might be a good idea to start a thread about various bugs people find in Android L.
11/11 Some of the bugs ppl have mentioned in the thread:
1. Bluetooth playback stutters and is overall inconsistent. **
2. Some report calls unable to patch through.
3. The Device randomly picks an app and said app drains the battery with extreme prejudice (personally it has occurred twice for me with Gmail soaking it up once and the other was Motorola connect).
4. Battery is not being managed properly
5. Ram is also buggy?
6. Google Now launcher working Incorrectly.
7. attentive display isn't working properly in all apps.
Android l final realease is out ?

For some reason I cant find the silent mode. Not sure if it's a feature or a bug..

When using the volume rocker, there will be a "none" option. That silences the phone

I would love others to confirm this. My music playback on the L soak test build is too fast. It speeds up the music just a half beat or so. Everything is just a little bit faster than it should be, and in some cases it's hard to discern. But I have tested multiple tracks and gotten others to listen and confirm too. Music playback through Play Music is not timing the songs correctly.

Nope. Google Music on my desktop and Google Music on my phone play the same song in absolute perfect sync.
I'm having a pretty major problem where apps like hangouts and gmail seemingly randomly decide to stop syncing in the background. I'll get a message, and it will either not notify me at all, or wait up to several minutes to do so, where it used to be nearly instant.

Maybe you can try deleting and then adding your google account again.

I've tried that, I've cleared data on play services and google framework, cleared data and cache in hangouts, rebooted multiple times, etc. I've done everything short of factory reset it.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe you need to factory reset. Did you happen to flash the system.IMG from the toolbox?

Yeah, my method for updating since I was rooted before was the toolbox system.img, then supersu into safe mode, then at&t modem, then update. I factory reset first thing after applying the update, but that doesn't seem to have fixed it. What's weird is that I'm having very similar issues on my nexus 7, which is running the 5.0 developer preview.
Edit- I factory reset it again. Lets see what happens.
Don't know if its Google Wallet or Lollipop but overnight my battery went from 90% to 15% with the screen off the entire time. And Google wallet was responsible for 41% of the usage.

Bluetooth seems unstable on my Honda Civic. Music was kind of skipping / jumping but the second time it was OK. Also, connection time seems to take much longer than it did on kk.
Sorry, should have clarified that my music speed issue is happening when I'm playing through my car on bluetooth. Ford Sync with MFT. Can anyone try playing through a Bluetooth device and see if playback is sped up?

I had to put my phone in safe mode https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/94932/p/30,6720,8696/kw/safe%20mode.
Once I went into safe mode tried encryption and the phone rebooted, encrypted then rebooted again and I was good to go. Please note you must have a fully charged battery and it plugged in for it to encrypt.
Hope this helps and good luck

YouTube 1440p NO ROOT/ STOCK

This is how I got 1440p to work in my NON-rooted Note 4 (S-Note fully functional):
1. Force stop YouTube, delete data, delete cache, uninstall update and turn off.
2. Reboot
3. Install the newest YouTube app 6.0.11 from here:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-6-0-11-apk/
3. Open YouTube, sign-in, and test by searching 4k video, play the video.
**Has been reported - if above steps don't work right away, try:
1. Force stop YouTube app.
2. Clear cache and data
3. Reboot
4. Open link below and check for changes in settings

How many of these threads do we really need
I'd say about 3 more and we'll be at the minimum...
Edit:
Although, if it works it's useful for those who choose not to root.
But this is XDA.....who comes here and DOESN'T root?....
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
The other ones I've come across ate intended for rooted devices. I haven't come across thread for non rooted. Non of the others worked for me so I thought I'd tale time out of my day and share.
What's your issue anyways? Why not encourage members to help each other instead of discouraging?l

I might just have a note 4 that is dysfunctional. I have tried every single trick in the book and I can not get anything over 720p

So had I but this worked for me. It's important to do everything listed in OP (including reboot).

I'll tell you one hiccup in my case.
The only YouTube on my device is one I've side loaded so I can not "turn off & uninstall updates". I can only uninstall after I delete days and cache.
Yes I've rebooted as per instructed and followed the instructions to a T.
I don't have YouTube as a system app
I can confirm this works.

Perhaps try returning to stock and try again. Not sure what to tell you since the method only worked for me after following ALL the steps. If you do get it to work, please share what you did.
No go for me but I've had a few. LoL. GO BUCKEYES!

Well there's my thread with my guide on how to do it, but with my method you must be rooted.
So I believe this thread is very nice for unrooted users, that's what a lot of people were worried about in my thread.
Sent from a potato.
Followed the directions and this does not work for me.
Does not work
Bruce, I changed your i instructions a little, this is what worked for me.

6) install the YouTube version linked by Bruce.
