I Am probably one of the biggest idiots on this site, My phone prompted me for an update so, like an idiot, I accepted the ota update. Okay, no biggie, you can fix that in the terminal. So i did the most idiotic thing, I cleared the system partition, and then I went to fix the bootloop into recovery mode, i entered the codes and then I reset, I didnt think anyting of it when it said no OS installed.. So i rebooted and it wont go past the lg bootlogo with the teal and green led. So am I basically just screwed or is there a way to fix it? This is my only phone and I can not afford a new one, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried this?

You could try putting the phone into download mode and using the LG Mobile Launcher. Make sure you have the most recent drivers.
Good luck.

Im about to install ubuntu so I can try this, but so far I havent been able to get it into download mode to my knowledge. It does however, make a sound when i attempt to , so that might be good. Thanks for the reply
The solution in the posted link does not require download mode. Just plug in to USB and follow the instructions. The LG software requires download mode.
Hope Ubuntu works for you.

Hello, I have the same issue.
I rooted the phone and unlocked the bootlader, it had cwm 6.0.4.5 installed. the phone took an owa update. the symptoms are as follows:
the phone only boots to the cwm recovery.
I can not get into download mode trying the up or down volume. My pc refuses to install the driver for the d800 even though i can see it as a device in device manager. I have installed lLGMlauncher as well as the LGUnitedMobileDriver.
Thank you for any ideas you may have

Have you gone to device manager, update drivers on your device, let me choose and then pick the ( I cant remember the exact name but it has to do with media, maybe mtp driver. It will then mount you phone
download a Rom along with gaps and flash
This is the basics, as I am away from my PC right now, there are many guides in the general area, I believe.
Sorry I cant be of more help at the moment
easiest would be to go to the dev section and download one of the many kits to get you back on track though.
Sorry. Was traveling and in cebu now. When I get my internet running I will try to check the driver. I still can not get into downliad mode on the phone however. I think it isn't PC dependant
I have VS980, with some version of PA 4. I hadnt updated it in a while so i downloaded the latest zip and tried to flash it with twrp. (i dont remember the exact version, but not 2.7) For some reason i suppose twrp didnt like to play nice with 4.4.3 and failed to something about updating binaries. I'm not sure what it was, doesnt really matter now though. That sorta messed up the rom enough so that it would never boot. it would get to the boot animation, but no further without intervention. So of course i was like "i gotta update my recovery!!" but alas i tried to flash it using adb and now twrp wont work, it only comes to a black screen. So i have been able to find no way to get into fastboot in lg g2 and i cant adb while in recovery and i have no ROM to work with. All i have is download mode which has (according to me) rendered my phone useless. I have been scouring the internet for hours trying to fix this with Download mode, perhaps with odin, but it's only for samsung devices i think. I have exhausted my mind and options and I am completely dumbfounded. If someone could shed some light on this it would be awesome. Before i take it to verizon to play stupid haha. All help is appreciated. I am a semi noob when it comes to this stuff, or i suppose really nooby.
I have been personally going through a lot lately and i cant handle this right now and i feel really bad but i really need help. all help is appreciated.
If you truly can't get to recovery use the lg flash tool to get back to stock in download mode. But I would keep trying to get recovery with the hardware buttons sequence. I was where you were with a black screen and was about to lg flashtool my phone but someone advised me to keep trying recovery and they were right. Its tricky to get it right and each phone is a little different.

Thank you Thank you Thank you sooo much. You saved my vs980. I had been trying to wipe it but the drivers never worked. I took your advice and tried the hardware buttons sequence on your advice and after 4 weeks of trying everything my phone is finally back. A very merry Christmas to me. Thanks again!
Hello my fellow XDA Members. I am stuck in a tight spot and after reading and re-reading some things the situation doesn't look very promising. I hope this is the moment that Karma shows up and I can get some help on this. Here it goes.
Specs - LG G2 D801 Variant > TWRP V2.8.3.1 > NO OS Currently
I was running Cloudy G3 Rom smoothly and got bored and decided to flash that new rom that is a 5.0 Rom all variants. Did the usual back ups and flashed it. Something happened when I flashed the rom. It went through the Aroma installer and then said "successful" but stuck in a bootloop. I tried it again and nothing happened. Then I tried to wipe everything again and started getting an E: Cannot mount (data or system I forget which as that error went away after I completely formatted data, wiped everything and reflashed Cloudy Stock. )
> Cloudy stock bootlooped and nothing is happening in TWRP. I Am using the USB OTG method of getting files on the phone and getting it charged but anytime I try to do anything (flash a rom, an older version of TWRP) it just immediately restarts TWRP and thats that. I have No OS at all.
> I tried to use one of the methods to get into download mode and flash a stock KDZ but the phone acts like it is going into DL mode (shows the little blue transition screen) but never gets into the ACTUAL download mode where the PC or flash tool can recognize it.
So in a nutshell > No OS > I can get into TWRP but it does nothing > No Download Mode > Don't want a new phone > Don't want to take it apart and try to short circuit anything if possible. LOL.
I am totally stuck here. I am done alot of work and even helped friends and family out with their devices over the years. I am just not sure if I need to consider it a done deal and get a new phone or maybe one of you guys know of something easy and obvious (please let it be the latter) I am missing. Thanks for any help you can offer. I Will be standing by.

I haven't thought about flashing a bootloader. How would I flash the bootloader if I can not the phone into either DL mode and or TWRP doesn't do anything either? Is a bootloader file just a flashable file like any other .zip file?

The first one I can not do as I do not have any knowledge at all of Ubuntu, Linux, or any of that. It would take forever to get a working knowledge of that software in order to get things going again. I would probably just have to either take it to a cellphone repair shop or get another phone before I could do the first link.
I have not tried the second one but it is a viable option. I was looking at it online and trying to talk myself down from having to do that. I would reallllllllly rather not have to take my phone apart if I can keep from so that's kind of what this post is all about. Just trying to see if anyone knows of ANYTHING else before I go taking apart my phone.
Can you describe more about "twrp doesnt do anything"?
Does twrp boot up?
Can u see/wipe partitions?
Can u install any rom in twrp? Does it finish?

TWRP boots and I can go into wipe, advanced wipe, and format data and it says it's successful. I can use file manager and move items back and forth from USB OTG. If I try to flash anything it just reboots TWRP immediately so I can't install any .zip files at all.
My guess is that your bootloader is damaged.
The only option i can see for you is that Ubuntu thing i shared with you. So, lets stop acting lazy and do what needs to be done. Dont scare since there is nothing to loose. LG G2 is unbrikable
Booting up ubuntu or any other linux os is so easy. And there is nothing much to learn. Trust me.
Go to ubuntu website and download their newest iso file. Burn it on dvd and boot it up. You dont have to install it, just choose "live mode" and it boots up. Just like that. Then yiu can proceed with tutorial mentioned above and it shouldnt take more than an hour from you. Its all typing some commands in terminal (remember CMD in windows!).
Just make sure to download the files mentioned in that tutorial before proceeding.

First of all calling people lazy is not nice. I'm not lazy I am trying to play it safe. I wouldn't want to brick it to the point to where I don't even have recovery and it can not even be charged any longer. I have Ubuntu on my desktop upstairs. I have used it a little. It's not that I am completely ignorant to Ubuntu I am just a total novice. Also the issue described in that post doesn't exactly match my situation. I am not in a black screen. It's more like a bootloop that I can not get out of because TWRP is not doing what it needs to do and I can not flash TWRP a ROM or get into DL mode at all. Also that post says,
"VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! You must use the img files that correspond to the ROM you have installed before getting the problem to avoid breaking your phone."
I don't have a rom on my phone soooo...
You didn't answer my question well. If on TWRP you can finish installing rom without any error, and you keep coming to twrp after restarts, that's another situation. Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
But if you cant even finish install in twrp (twrp gives you errors or just restarts before giving you "successful", either you have problem in rom you try to flash or you need to build everything up from start.
That lazy thing was for encouraging you to do it.
And you cant brick your device. There is always a way on G2.
For img files: find them from last stock rom that was working on your phone.

Hey guys, it's 4am where I live and I'm becoming desperate now... Hope someone find a solution for my problem and is willing to help me.
I was using the latest CM12 nightly on my new d805 and decided to try the new CloudyG2 3.1. I was told the easiest way to do this is flashing a Lollipop bootstack (which I found here https://github.com/lg-devs/bootstack...master/d802/lp) followed by the Cloudy ROM itself.
I did it through TWRP, and then things started to cramble. On reboot the LG logo briefly appeared followed by a black screen. I've found this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2432476, downloaded the appropriated .kdz but my device isn't recognized by my PC. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and using the universal ones, but my computer just doesn't care about the phone being connected or not.
I tried to start sideload on TWRP so I could push a CM12 .zip back to the phone, but the sideload doesn't start, so I essentially can't send any file to the phone. Is there any hope for me? I'd be so happy if someone gave me a solution for this... I really can't afford to buy another phone right now and this is my only method of contact with some relatives.
Huge thanks in advance, this community rocks.

So I need a specific cable to do this? Is this the only way?
You need a normal usb-otg that can find in every electronics shop
Hey guys, i need your help please.
My Lg G2 D802 goes only in download mode and i cant proceed with flashing recovery or anything because the MTP driver fails to be installed correctly.
The background of this is that i installed a marshmallow ROM it all went fine and booted. But then i realized that my recovery wasn't supported anymore so i had to install a newer one. That means that although i managed to install marshmallow with an old recovery, i could not get my phone into recovery after marshmallow booted normally. So i was trying to install a new recovery through bad apps and some windows programs. All i did was to soft brick my phone cause now the phone gets stuck in booting logo. I manage to get into download mode and connect it to windows 7 64 bit and windows 10 64bit but the MTP driver wont install correctly. I have tried a bunch of drivers and versions. Non work. So i cant use the LG windows tools.
I must add that fastboot hasnt worked also. Maybe i havent tried it in the correct way.
Please give me a way to proceed fixing my phone from download mode.
Same thing happened to me. Some guys say that it could only be recovered with J-tagging. Please someone share some kind of experience. Phone lays down with running LG logo, nothing else..

J Tagging is a professional thing with special equipment and a thorough knowledge of hardware / software. So try to find some pros who can handle it, and, of course it is not free..:crying:

My LG G2 had a nicely running ICEX ROM Final with TWRP recovery. Why on earth I thought of putting that f***king Optimus G3 ROM instead. It was installed, but right after, went bootlooping like crazy. Now I sent the phone for J-tag. I will have to wait another 2 weeks, if it can be recovered at all...
I am sure that J-tagging is not necessary. There must be a work around this MTP driver. How should i use the fastboot? Can i use google drivers of some sort?

Maybe you can try this extensive method. I wish I had seen this before I sent G2 for repairs.
