Greetings people ^ First of all Hi,im new to XDA
Awesome forum btw.
My question is : I have a SE X10i branded in Spain, Vodafone ES ...on R2BA024 (i think) and i wanna unbrand it to SE X10i UK Generic R2BA020 (That way i can get the 2.1 update faster, cause vodafone will take alot i think to get it rolling around)
Will it all work perfectly? I mean, will i concur with any problems?
Thanks in advance ^^
PS : My SIM Lock is off so i think ill be able to use any SIM i got
PS2: Sorry if this has been asked already ,i just couldnt find any posts regarding this.
I'm unlocked but branded Vodafone UK, build R2BA024 and would like some help in debranding too - so I can get the 2.1 faster.
I'm not sure how to debrand and what method will work
I have however managed to get root and have superuser permission (so i'm not a complete blonde)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
tia x
P.S. Hello and welcome xtrmshadow , I hope you dont mind me piggybacking your post
Please search the forums first before opening a new thread.
Go to one of the debrand threads where they have guides.

There seems to be a lot of questions regarding the steps laid out in the official thread, so here I'll try doing a STEP BY STEP guide for those who are confused with the steps.
I borrowed some stuff from the original guide, so thanks Bin4ry, jerpelea and biktor_gj for everything!
NOTE: Before you begin, you should know that this process will wipe everything off your phone. So backup your contacts, and text messages and everything on your phone! Download a free backup program from the market to make backups onto your SD card, and after you're done everything, download that program again and restore everything from SD card. Your SD card remains fine.
1) Install SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).
You can get it from here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/110/61/1275980198/Update_Service_Setup-2.10.6.21.exe
2) Run SEUS, follow the prompts. You don't need to update the phone through it, but get the phone ready for updating. This process should install the drivers necessary for the rooting process.
Note: I suggest you keep your USB cable attached to that USB port. Remember which USB port of your computer it's attached to, as changing USB ports can lead to a bit of confusion for the next 2 steps!
3) To check if #2 was successful, click on Start, click Run, and type: regedit
In the Registry Editor that pops up, click on Computer, press CTRL+F, and search for this: USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\
After it's finished finding, on the right side you'll see DeviceInstance, then it says REG_SZ, then it says something like USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\5&270d2a78&0&3
You'll need that last bit (in this example: 5&270d2a78&0&3 Yours would probably be different). This is your DeviceID (you'll need it soon!)
Note: You may have multiple of these if you plugged the USB cord into many USB ports on your computer. Each USB port will give a different DeviceID, so if you have more than one DeviceID, you'll have to choose one, and if it doesn't work (you'll find out when you reach #5!) you will have to choose another one.
Alternatively, download the file in the next step and extract it, go to the folder called 1st, and run the DeviceID.jar file. It should give your DeviceID
4) Download this:
http://filevo.com/1nlq8wryo11u.html
or from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/404363083/i_R1FA16_ft.rar.html
Extract it.
In the step1 folder, you'll see a file called DeviceID.txt
Open it up, delete whatever's there, and put YOUR DeviceID (that you found from the previous step).
Save the file and close notepad.
Note: Make sure there are no extra spaces or lines after/before the DeviceID. The ONLY thing that should be in the file is your DeviceID, NO SPACES/LINES (for example, only this: 5&270d2a78&0&3 [yours will probably be different])
5) Take out the USB cable from your phone (leave it plugged into your computer)
Turn your phone OFF
Open up step1.cmd (it's not inside the step1 folder, but outside it), but DON'T PRESS ANYTHING
Now we have to put the phone into flash mode. This is how you do it:
Hold the Back button on your phone, and while holding the back button, insert the USB cable into the phone.
A green light should come on the phone (like when it's charging or a missed call)
Quickly "Press any key to continue..." in the open step1.cmd window.
Let it finish what it's doing. It will say "Press any key to continue..." after it's finished. Until then, DON'T touch anything!
If you get problems in this step, refer to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6970868&postcount=3
Here's a helpful video for common java issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713457
After completion, this will give you a Generic X10i R1FA016 firmware (check it by pressing the left button, go to settings>about phone and at the very bottom under build number)
Keep your phone plugged into the USB.
6) Download this:
http://filevo.com/yzmh8wlyrgtz.html
or from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/404359845/ROOT_F2v2.rar.html
Extract it.
DELETE step4 folder, step5 folder, step4.cmd and step5.cmd
Now we're going to put the phone into Debugging mode:
Turn your phone on if it's not already on.
Press the left button, go to Settings>Applications>Development and check on USB debugging, press OK in the popup. Plug the USB into the phone (in case you disconnected it). You should see an exclamation mark at the very top left of the screen of the phone.
Do NOT have the SD card mounted to your computer!
Note: This next step can take a while!
Open step2.cmd, don't press anything!
On the phone, a list of buttons will come up eventually. Press the 6th option (something about update from SDcard). ONLY PRESS IT ONCE!
Leave your phone alone. Go to the washroom or eat a snack.
You'll see the progress on the phone screen, as it installs the package. Leave everything alone.
After completion, this will give you a Generic X10i R2BA023 firmware.
If you get problems, try this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7003121&postcount=1122
7) The phone should be on, USB plugged in, and already in USB debugging mode.
Open step3.cmd, and 'Press any key to continue'
Let it finish what it's doing, it will say 'Press any key to continue' at the end after it's finished.
After completion, this will give you ROOT! And it also installs some programs for you.
_____________________________________________________________________
Additional steps for X10a:
Download this:
http://filevo.com/okknxk23pbnr.html
or from here: http://hotfile.com/dl/52357616/84b4027/ROOT_F2v2_X10a.rar.html
Extract it.
Inside the step4 folder, there is a DeviceID.txt file. Remember you've seen this before? Copy the same one from step1 folder that you did in #4, and put it into the step4 folder.
Follow #5 (except with step4.cmd)
Next, turn the phone on (if it doesn't turn on, unplug the USB from the phone, and try turning it on again, then plug the USB back in). Put it in USB debugging mode if it's not (if you forgot how to, look back in #6)
Open step5.cmd
After it's done, press the left button on the the phone, go to Settings>About phone and under Model number it should say X10a

Market Fix:
If you have an X10i, follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719486
Otherwise if you have an X10a, use this file instead, but follow the same instructions as in the link above: http://rapidshare.com/files/405188255/Market-Fix-X10a.rar
_____________________________________________________________________
To delete preinstalled programs you don't want, such as Moxier:
Put phone in debugging mode if it's not already.
I recommend you unplug USB from phone so you don't end up running some file and messing your phone
Open up the step3 folder. Right-click on cleanup.cmd, and click on edit.
Whatever is there in that list of "@adb shell rm /blah/blah/blah" will get wiped off your phone. So change the list as you want. If you're unsure, REMOVE IT FROM THE LIST!
After you're done making your list of apps to remove, save the file, plug USB into phone, and run the file.
Here is a thread that says what some of the applications are, and additional ones you can add to the list, to remove from the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714021
Alternatively, you can install Titanium Backup from the market (it's free!) and use that to uninstall some applications. Also, it's really great for making a backup of your stuff (you can backup more things now since you have access to more things since you now have root!)

If you'd have stopped at step 5 and run seus you would flash straight to 026, instead of having to flash to 023 and then 026.
I've tried this method
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=195467
when I get to step 12 SE's PC Companion just re-downloads the Vodafone files again :'(
still stuck on uk 024 :'(
Same thing happens on the SEUS swap method, it doesn't attempt to download the files as they are already there so I don't get the opportunity to swap :'(
@debs ,that method doesnt work anymore mate, use the one from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...717949&page=22 .
That one works,i just tried it myself.
Regards ^^
PS: Just be careful on the steps, read em carefully before doing anything, you can brick your phone doing that.
Thank you sooooo much XperiaX10iUser and xtrmshadow. Chuffed to bits now I have finally got 026 on. I did it the way you both suggested but only up to part 5, then let SEUS update me to 026.
I'm one happy bunny now

I also read something about replacing just one file? I can't find the post anymore and don't remember the filename. I unbranded my phone months ago. But my wife has the same phone from Vodafone, but branded. If someone can tell me the name of the file and whether I can copy mine file to her phone to unbrand it?

No you can't exactly copy it.
Go to the debrand thread posted on first page and read through carefully then you'll see that the files are copied to a certain folder on your pc. Since you've done it before I'm sure it will come back to you if you simply reread the obstructions.
Edit:Btw the links posted by XperiaX10User and xtrmshadow are actually same post with I copy and pasted on first page. Just so you don't get confused.

I found it, I mean the build.prop. What if I replace her build.prop with mine? Would that work?
I know about the SEUS and then during the process replace the files etc. But that is not what I mean ;-)
Thanx again!

Hi folks
Here is how to root 2011 Xperia running any of the 4.1.B.0.587 4.1.B.0.431 / 4.1.A.0.562 and 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware . No need to downgrade kernels or anything, just root it straight away
Rooting
Go to settings > Security > Mark "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode
PC Companion installed on your PC.
1) Connect your phone to PC ( IMPORTANT > Skip PC Companion installation pop up on your phone.) and wait for the adb drivers to be installed. If these drivers don't get installed, phone would not be detected by Eroot.
Make sure nothing else ( specially flashtool ) is running on your PC in the background.
2) Download this rooting toolkit. Google Drive /// MediaFire /// 4-Shared and run it. If any downloading starts, cancel it by clicking the green button. Don't let the eroot download anything.
It should now detect your phone and show an option to "-root". Just click on it, wait till it finishes
3)Rooting done ( For confirmation see if any Super User app has been installed )
4) If by chance it fails for the first time, give it another go. it won't harm your phone in any way. If you still face problem, click on show content below
Go to your C:/ Drive / User/Username/AppData/Roaming/ folder and delete the eRoot folder.
If it says cannot be deleted then open up task manager on your PC and kill bec.exe . Then delete eroot folder.
Still not working ? used the archived method to root 2011 Xperia here below the animated Xperia picture.

Confirm working on neo L
Confirm working on neo L
For neo L with Tigris Kernel,Vengeance ... ( Unlock BL )
Just connect to PC , and do the steps in OP
For neo L Lock BL
1. Enable USB Debugging from (Menu\Settings\Developer Options\Development)
2. Enable Unknown Sources from (Menu\Settings\Security)
3. Enable MSC Mode from (Menu\Setting\Xperia\Connectivity\USB Connection Mode)
4.Then simply flash MT11i_4.1.A.0.562_kernel via Flashtool
5.Then Root using the tool above , after done manually remove and reinsert battery
6.Then flash back MT25i_4.1.B.0.626_KERNEL ONLY_bywewenk or MT25i_4.1.B.0.631_KERNEL ONLY_bywewenk
*If you are on .626 & .587 use .626 kernel , If you are on .631 then use .631 kernel
Awesome
Confirmed working fine on Arc S (LT18i) running 4.1.B.0.587.
Awesome!!!!
Just today I decided to finally root it. I had been looking for some ways to do it here but hadn't decided how to do it yet. I wasn't too enthousiastic about having to downgrade, root, and upgrade again. (Most of all, I didn't want to have to reconfigure my entire phone...)
The primary reason for wanting to root was moving more apps to SD - I'm tired of not being able to install apps and having to decide every week which app I need to uninstall since I'm running out of space.
So - I used this. The menu is in Japanese (I think - correct me if I'm wrong ), but I managed to get it to work after 2 attempts.
If whoever made it could translate the GUI to English and add an option to choose a language. it would be great. But even without that, it did the job for me!
Whoever made this - THANK YOU!
Nabeel Bro, i tested ur signature, it's working fine for me !!
Hi Nabeel.!
This is a really easy way to root.
It works fine in my brother's Xperia Arc S running 4.1.B.0.587.

Yeah,
But what i need to know is, that eroot kit detects your mobile at all ?
It closes on it's own ?
It's probably the antivirus acting up buddy. I just tested again on W8 pc and it works really fine.
First connect your phone to PC with USB debugging on, then wait until the adb driver is installed. Only After that run the rooting toolkit . Cancel that downloading ( 10MB ) as soon as you see it, now see if it shows an option to Root.
If that doesn't help then follow this reply. ( Your antivirus might have removed some file of eroot, that's causing it to close on it's own, so follow this reply and install eroot again , but before that make sure you disable antivirus) >

Trying to fix my Bluetooth issue, as chronicled in detail here.
Wanted to ask you devs where Bluetooth configuration or a related error log is stored on the i9505G so I can take a look at it; something is stopping my BT from being able to turn on; it used to work fine pre-root (heck, even post-root for a day or so).
I figured the developers would be the best people to ask since you'd be familiar with the folder structure and config files.

KrossX this is the second time you have posted questions in the development forum. As I stated before these are for Q&A NOT here. Please refrain from posting your questions here and READ the XDA users guide and forum rules again. There is a reason for this. I am glad your part of the community and your questions and comments are noteworthy you just need to put them in the right place. We read those threads as well! MJ
This is for Development ONLY
Yes PLEASE no name calling we all make mistakes and this thread will be moved soon to the proper place
And to answer your question Kriss you could do a logcat but if your not familiar with that do a search and provide more info on what your trying to do ( configuration?)

I thought that since I was aiming this more at the devs it would've been in the Dev forums. Sorry for having you move yet another thread of mine.
Didn't mean to cause a ruckus; never really got a chance to read the post by deaffob above before it was edited by the mod so no offense from whatever name-calling was done, haha.

Any ideas (referring to attached pic)? I filtered at the Error level in the logs for the term "Bluetooth"

The first error there looks like it may be relevant, but you'll need to get a more thorough logcat in order to trouble shoot it more. Please grab one with adb and post it to pastebin or here in a [ code][ /code] box.

Good news and bad news.
Bad news: I am unable to run logcat; I am unable to access my device via USB ever since the root and when I tried doing the logcat steps, yet again it couldn't connect to my device.
Good news: I believe the solution to this issue (being unable to access my device via USB) may also lie in the logs along with the bluetooth issue. The reason why is because of this error message I received while trying to reinstall the USB driver (attached pic); it points to not being able to "start" a device. I think this will all eventually tie-in with some services not running correctly on my phone.
So, is there another way for me to post a log for you kind folks to review on here via my phone directly?
If I can do that via catlog app on my device, let me know what sort of log (which options) I'd need to run and post. Thanks!
Well, did a restore to stock + root. That didn't help. It changed the Baseband, Kernel, and Build versions but did nothing to fix my issues with BT and USB connectivity.
I think I am going to start researching ways to start from scratch. Like a factory reset/wipe back to first-use condition. If anyone can point me towards some reading material on how to do that safely and wisely, it would be much appreciated!
I just ended up doing a factory reset (Menu-->Settings-->Backup & Reset-->Factory Data Reset) and that resolved the issue (while wiping my phone).
Bluetooth issue is resolved; tested it just now and it works just fine again. As is the USB issue; as soon as the phone was connected to the same exact PC as before, it was recognized and showed up as a device that I could open and explore.
My Kernal/Baseband/Build versions are all back to the ones I had when I got the phone from the Google Store, so that's comforting too.
Thanks to all those who attempted to help!
PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVEN'T CREATED THIS SOFTWARE. I AM JUST SHARING IT.
I REQUEST YOU DON'T CLOSE THE THREAD PLEASE.
Hello Everybody,
I am just sharing this app for rooting any Android...
It works for my Sony Xperia SP even without flashing with DoomLord's Method.
But The Only Problem of this Application is that it's in chinese
The Superuser which comes after rooting is also in Chinese but it will 100% root your phone
Please make a backup of your nandroid before using it..
I will not be responsible for any bricking, I have tested the software myself and currently using it. If your device is bricked and you pointed on me, I will laugh at you.
READ THE STEPS CAREFULLY..
Steps :
1. Extract the .rar file and install the software (I know it's chinese but please try to Understand)
2. Make sure your Internet Connection is ON and star the Software.
3. Turn on USB Debugging and Unknown Resources from your phone.
4. Connect your phone to your PC and If the PC Companion is troubling you, then close it.
5. Then it will take some time to install drivers automatically and when the bottom right button of the software turns grey to Green, click on it.
6. It will take some time so be patient.
7. Then after some time your phone will restart. (It may take some time to start, dont worry)
8. Then check the superuser app (Blue Shield Icon) and grant the permissions (if asked).
9. Your Phone is Successfully ROOTED!!
Steps for Unrooting your phone:
1. Turn on USB Debugging and Unknown Resources from your phone.
2. Connect your phone to your PC.
3. Start The VRoot Software.
4. It will detect the phone a another window will come.
5. Click on the Green Tab Button located at the bottom right of the window.
6. Then Your Phone will restart.
7. You have successfully Unrooted your phone.
CHECK WITH ROOT CHECKER IF YOU HAVE ROOTED OR UNROOTED.

OK Please @mrjraider you by yourself close the thread. Cause I can't do it myself...
THE THREAD IS CLOSED...
The fact that this is an executable application is making me think it's fake most root creators like @DooMLoRD use a batch file for rooting this executable is perfect for hiding malicious apk's
I rooted my device via this option, but my phone decided to randomly reboot every now and then, so had to go back to stock and root via doomlords method, No problems for me now
But yea this thread/links need to be removed as its not 100% safe to use this method

If you don't know what the software does then please do not share it.
This software has been shown to record imei numbers and send them to a remote server.
As of receiving this from Kingo
Hey, Merry Christmas!
Once we received your letter, we realized the seriousness of this whole IMEI issue and we removed it from our code right away.
Best Regards,
Kingosoft.

Instead of just saying that it's solved, please explain how you solved it. That's the point of having these forums, sharing of information, you sharing your solution might benefit someone else in future.
